Canceled due to lack of merchandicing?

I know I'm a couple weeks late on this but Sym-Bionic Titan was canceled not due to poor ratings but lack of a suitably sized product line!

Did they even try? You have monster of the week, in both character and kaiju size. You have the main characters, their armor, Titan, The HMER, G3 troops, G3 mecha, Am I missing something? Oh, their gadget watches.

grumble, grumble, grumble, idiots

Yeah it's a bummer that this show was canceled. From what I've heard Cartoon Network did try to get a toy line started, but from what I've heard Bandai, Hasbro, and others all passed on it.

Kind of surprised their reasoning was "marketing", though with the amount of shilling their doing for B:TBatB, Generator Rex, and Ben 10, I guess it doesn't surprise me.

What made me mad was that they moved the last two or three eps to Saturday morning, and my DVR missed a week of it with that change. I know they needed to move things around with such a heavy Friday line up, but, knowing they had one that seemed generally strong, why did they let Adult Swim take over the 9-10 hour? Had that not happened, it could have stayed on Friday nights and played out it's season, even if they had no plans to renew it. Which irks me.

i think SBT was another good show that got canned before its time. i was glad to see Octus finally come back and then find out it was cancelled.

You didn't miss much. Not that it was bad - more watchable than Generator Rex, IMO - just forgettable.

Kind of sad when the biggest factor in a shows survival is how many toys can be made from it.

I thought this was a good show but it suffered from the same problem shows like Caprica did: They apparently tried to make a "never-ending" episodic TV show out of a story concept that would have been better served by a fixed-length dozen episode mini-series.

Basically the entire premise of the show was that the 3 main characters were exiled to Earth after this evil dictator guy staged a coup to take over their howeworld. Clearly they were leading up to the idea that these 3 would eventually go back and lead a revolution to retake their world and save the day. Why does that story have to require more than about a dozen action packed episodes? Do you need to drag that out 100+ episodes? No, of course not.

So because they apparently didn't have a plan to "finish" up the story anytime soon I pretty much assumed months ago that eventually this thing was going to be cancelled without being properly finished. It's kind of disappointing my prediction had to be right once again.

No better or worse than any number of anime series that go on "forever".

Besides "monster of the week" they had "fitting in" with high school youth; who is G3?; is that Lance's father; dealing with Steel; personal growth; back stories; accessing Titan's full functionality. A lot of potential story material to tap.

Sure I don't thing the series could drive a storyline as long as Bleach et al but another 13 to 20 episodes, sure.
