Level 52 or 53?

This question may have been asked to death but here goes... I noticed ppls are advertising themselves as level 52's or 53's. Does that mean they have been level shifted twice or three times? Would I see a +2 or +3 when I select these ppls?

You will only see 50 (+2) or 50 (+3) inside the BAF or Lambda trial. These two new shifts are for incarnate content only, and aren't active anywhere else.

Basically, these people are advertising themselves as having Tier-3 shifts or better in Alpha, and Lore and/or Destiny. They're not actually level 52 or 53 -- the maximum actual level of characters is still 50.

Hi,

I use +3 because I got 5 Incarnate slots and three of them are slotted to a tier that says "This power also gives a level shift". So I figure I got 3 level shifts in total albeit that 2 only work during Incarnate trials/Stuff.

And I am sure you will gets posts explaining exactly how these level shifts are not actually level shifts but I don't care that much about the science, what's on the tin will do me

Edit to add: I actually do not use the +1 2 3 thing in game, but now just use iscrappie/iCorr et cetera lft. I have 5 Incarnate slots all at max so I figure an i for Incarnate says it all

Short answer, yes. They would read Level 50 (+2) or 50 (+3). The rare and very rare alpha slots provide a level shift that is always on. Two of the new incarnate slots, I think lore and destiny, provide a level shift in the trials only.

Yes, they raised the level cap but called it funny.

When broadcasting looking for a Trial league, I think it's a reasonable shortcut to refer to a character as 53 because typing "50 (+3)" just seems overly pedantic.

Anyone who claims that they are 52 or 53 are either lazy, don't know better, or are lying. It is 50+2 and 50+3 since your health doesn't change as it does with regular leveling. They are still 50s, but level 54 mobs see them as -1 or -2 instead of -4 so 50+3s will hit more often, attack better, and survive longer than 50s.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

It makes you sound like an Apple Computers product.

Meh, see my previous comment about being overly pedantic. There's no confusion if I type "lvl 53 LF BAF" and it reads easier than "lvl 50+3".

If people say Level 52 or Level 53, we know what they mean, so it's all good.

<nitpick>Actually, only Alpha Rare and Very Rare say they give a Level Shift. Lore and Destiny Rare and Very Rare say they give Incarnate Shifts.</nitpick>

Just a sign of lazyness like afk instead of away from keyboard or lol instead of laughing out loud. Most people that do incarnate trials know that 53 means 50+3 while in an incarnate trial, but a person that doesn't read up on the latest changes to the game could be confused that the level cap has been increased.

That's a bit harsh.

Overly pedantic. Where's it written in stone that HP MUST increase with every level for it to BE a level?

Then it'd be a fair assessment to say that they could, actually, qualify as L51, 52, or 53. Any damage not taken is at least equivalent to any additional hit points they were not awarded for those level shifts.

You can thank laziness for every single advancement humanity has made (and, conversely, you can thank not lazy enough for every single conflict in human history ).

Didn't say anything about laziness being a bad thing. Just like science, laziness is good or bad depending on how it is used. Too lazy to pick up your kids from Soccer in the rain, bad. Too lazy to fight with someone, good.

The term 'lazy' generally carries a negative connotation.

It's sheer laziness to use a canal system to irrigate your crops, when you could just haul the water yourself.

Damn kids and their canal-feed irrigation systems! Back in my day, we used to walk over ONE HUNDRED MILES up hill to the river, and fill up our 32oz buckets with water (while fighting the man-eating aligators), then, we'd walk back ANOTHER one hundred miles, still up hill to our crops! We'd then tacticfully use an eye dropper to specifically position each drop of water for maximum effect!

And we liked it! Damn spoiled kids...
