Shark so OP because?

I'm not saying it's bad, I just honestly don't know why Leviathan mastery is popular, in particular Spirit Shark. Can someone explain to me Leviathan? It seems to me on paragonwiki that its pretty average but for some unseen reason it's great. So, again, explain to me. I seriously don't get it.

It does alot of damage from hidden status in PvP.

First 50 was a brute. She's a cat. So she throws fish. It amused me.

Other people have other reasons. (I want to say KB in PVP is one of them, but don't quote me on it.)

It's popular with Crab/Bane/Hunstman because Venom Grenade gives more -res to toxic than other damage types, so that meshes well with Bile Spray.

It's also fairly popular with other ATs for Water Spout.

Possibly for Hibernate too.

And the novelty value of shooting sharks at people (and throwing up on them).

It's Jaws..why else would we have it!

For my lvl 50 controller fire/storm, I wanted another tornado. Water Spout does knock up instead of knock back so it can be more team friendly.

My other option would have been Psychic Mastery, that tornado doesnt move though Adding world-of-confusion to Hot Feet could be really fun though... both 6 slotted and IO'd just right.

I keep thinking about making that second build... one of these days...

Because a big giant ghost-shark comes out of the ground and chomps on your enemies 'til they are dead.

Seriously, where is there a bit of Not Win in that statement??

it's not kb it's their broken damage

It's stupid broken in pvp. Sharks do like 300 damage from range and crit. That's basically all you have to have to play a stalker in pvp anymore

BU>sharks>placate>sharks>repeat

The kb mag isn't high enough to really do anything. Most builds are running with 40 kb points. At most it'll just show who hasn't slotted for kb. But you want it for the damage

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Nowhere. I'd also like to draw attention to the part where you launch a m'fing ghost shark at the bad guys' faces.

Which on the badass-o-meter is roughly equivalent to Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis wrestling ten nazi bears.

This.

With the I13 changes PvP damage was adjusted for powers based on new criteria, namely activation time and recharge rate. Spirit Shark has a 3 second activation and a recharge of 6 seconds. With whatever formula they use (I don't think we've been giving it exactly, just in general) it sits right at the "sweet spot" for damage vs usability.

For a Stalker the base damage is only 38.9 in PvE. For PvP that base number jumps roughly 4x to 154.5. Now add in an 80 foot range and criticals from Hide.

By comparison an Assassin Strike does 250.2 base damage in PvP, has a 7 foot range, is interuptable, and requires your target to stay in sight the entire 3.6 second activation time.

Plus, you know, shark vomit.

You can't mix movie metaphors like that!

(Unless you're Charlie Sheen in Hot Shots! You know, before the crazy...)

"Arachnos submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Supa_Powered. We was comin' back from the island of Perigrine to Atlas Park... just delivered the bomb. The Mercy Island bomb. Two hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in 2 minuets. Didn't see the first shark for about 30 seconds. Tiger. 13-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Supa_Powered? You tell by looking from the dorsal to the tail fin. What we didn't know, was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, Supa_Powered, sharks come cruisin', so we formed ourselves into tight groups. You know, it was kinda like old squares in the battle like you see in the calendar named "The Battle of Eden" and the idea was: shark comes to the nearest man, that man he starts poundin' and hollerin' and screamin' and sometimes the shark will go away... but sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces. You know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men. I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand. I know how many men, they averaged sixty an hour. On Thursday morning, Supa_Powered, I bumped into a friend of mine, Harvey Maylor from Mera Heights. Tabloid Editor. Boatswain's mate. I thought he was asleep. I reached over to wake him up. He bobbed up, down in the water just like a kinda top. Upended. Well, he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon, the fifth day, HardRider, a Longbow Flier saw us. He swung in low and he saw us... he was a young pilot, a lot younger than HardRider. Anyway, he saw us and he come in low and three hours later a big fat blimp comes down and starts to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened... waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, two hundred men went in the water; 16 men come out and the sharks took the rest, December the 2nd, 2008. Anyway, we delivered the bomb."

That is why sharks are awesome.

according to in game numbers, unenhanced PvE dmg for a lvl 50 stalker is ~78 dmg with a base of 9 sec rech (this is non crit dmg)

in PVP, the dmg avg unenhanced dmg is ~130 (non crit) dmg on same base 9 sec rech

with enhances and such this power does extremely massive amounts of dmg in PVP and crits with it can nearly 1 shot most squishy ATs (i think crits on enhanced dmg for the spirit shark power can do 800+ dmg)
