Another "Enough Praetoria, Already" thread?
I'm probably looking a gift horse in the mouth here, but how many others besides me are just going to flat out not bother with the Lore pets, not because they generally don't like pets but because the Praetorian-NPC nature of those pets clashes with their character concept? Because don't get me wrong, I like pets just fine - my four Masterminds, two Dominators, and five Controllers including one that uses Illusions are somewhat telling. I just feel like they'd be a little immersion-breaking on a lot of my characters, especially the ones who are supposed to be connected to other NPC villain groups (the exceptions being my Meat Doctor character and two of my Menders, who will make perfect sense with salvaged Clockwork allies).
I guess I could think up IC reasons for most of the otherwise-odd ones, but that's a tall order for some of the more magically oriented and otherworldly characters, you know? Nordic frost giants, sentient black holes, ancient Anglo-Saxon revenants, genies, malevolent hurricane spirits, Soldiers of Rularuu, and Andrew Jackson don't seem like they'd be so easy to reconcile with the whole having-a-Praetorian-buddy thing. Or maybe I'm just grumpy because with all the time this patch is taking to download, I won't get to play today. I dunno. I wish I could just give the Seers a Wisp skin... I don't care if their powersets don't match perfectly. |

Good idea. I never thought of that.

Keep in mind that we're going to be expanding/diversifying the Lore slot, as confirmed by Mr. Black Scorpion in the UStream dev chat. It definitely doesn't hurt to at least get started on unlocking it and working your way up.

What I mean to ask is, if we unlock some IDF and then you folks release, say, Rularuu as Lore pets, there probably won't be an option to "make the change to the new stuff", right? Just break down and rebuild?

In the meantime, I think the offered explanation for Lore is pretty solid. You've already spent ages fighting Praetorians, and this is just a reflection of an ability to summon a reflection of your foe. Alternatively, the IDF isn't a horrible special ops team, clockwork can stand in for just about any sort of android/robot companion. Seers are a bit tricky although it's not like 'people with psychic powers' is unknown on Primal; the main difference is the floaty head-covering bit. Since we can colorize Incarnate powers, perhaps you could color them red and call them Fortunatas.

Personally, I'd like to see either a new Mastermind set that was IDF-style soldiers from the future, or otherwise see customization for Mercs to use models similar to that. The only futuristic set we currently have is Bots, and those get really old, really fast once you've used them on a bunch of characters.
Speaking of the IDF, what I wouldn't give to have customization options for Assault Rifle that use those Heavy backpacks with the guns and the belts and them missiles instead of the omnigun and the other stock prop models. Tech issues, I know, but I'd still like to see it.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.
