Vampire the Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition
I leaned toward Gangrel, myself.
Can't believe it's been this long since it came out. I have many, many good memories from playing Vampire (and the others).
I remember being at my first job and using the work phone to call long distance down to Georgia (??) and talking directly with the creators, chatting about Disciplines and how everything worked. You could stay on the phone quite a while with them happily discussing their game and connecting with their new fans.

Definitely want. I remember ordering the first edition through the mail the first time I saw an ad for it. There are things I like about the rebooted version, but the original just has that certain something. I wish I could find a decent group up here to play it with.
I actually have a question about the new version. I picked it up, but only skimmed it because my usual gang had stopped playing by that point and also because I just didn't like the revised setting.
Anyhow, my question concerns Generation. As I understand it, vampires now advance through Generation as they age, as opposed to having it be decided by how far they are from Caine. I think that part is ok. What I don't like is that as a vampire gets too old, they have to voluntarily enter Torpor to thin their blood, waking up after a time at a lower Generation. They lose access to their higher-level Disciplines and abilities, with everything dropping to the "normal" maximum of 5. I can understand that, but what bothers me is that it seems that as the character's Generation advances again, he has to re-buy the lost Disciplines and abilities.
This bothers me for 2 reasons: 1) you can spend months or years saving up and spending XP to get high-level powers, then have to basically start over because your character got too old and 2) this means that a 300 year old vampire could be much more powerful than a 9,000 year old vampire who woke up from Torpor 2 centuries ago. That doesn't make much sense to me.

I typically played Malkavians. Gangrel were my second favourite clan. Of course, I really preferred "mummies" (a non-Egyptian variety achieved through internal alchemy, preferably), Changelings, and the Eastern were-critters and vampires.

Most of our group stayed with Vampires... I went for a Mokole.
After that incident we never played crossover again, I wonder why...

Clan Nosferatu, Fianna, and Sons of Ether here (all three characters of which I've recreated in homage in CoX)
Though most of the time I was storyteller so played pretty much every character type in one scene or another.
One of my group's favorite moments was in one of my Vampire games. They were told over and over again to avoid the park - it was filled with werewolves. The player who was playing a Gangrel desperately wanted to be a werewolf, and was deliberately frenzying himself all the time to get beast traits. I have no problem with character concept but the beast traits are meant to be a drawback, not a 'I can totally look cool when chilling with my friends. Don't worry, I have Obfuscate so I'm not threatening the masquerade'. So the next time he deliberately worked himself into a Frenzy I gave him a beaver tail. ("But it's supposed to be traits from creatures of the night!" "Beavers are nocturnal. I checked." "...")
That silliness aside he decided to... go to the park. He made a lot of noise approaching, said he wanted to talk, that he wanted to help them however he could, give them information, fight the Wyrm (which he shouldn't have known about), etc.
A few werewolves showed up after sensing he wasn't carrying silver and heard him out. After his impassioned speech the Alpha nodded and said simply:
"Charity begins at home."
... so ...his replacement character wasn't anywhere near as curious about werewolves...
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
Level 50 at last:
VICTORY HEROES: Stonefall (Grav/Kin/Psy), Earthwave (Earth/Rad/Fire), Nae'bliss (Invul/Fire), Paradox Black Omega (Kat/Reg/Weap)
PROTECTOR VILLAINS: Ba'alat (SS/Will/Soul), Mechalomaniac (Bots/Dark/Soul)
I didn't know there was a conversion document available. Can you post a link? I'd love to experiment with combining some of the oWOD lore with nWOD mechanics.

Costs a whole dollar, but that's pretty good for 52 pages of support for a product that's been discontinued for 7 years.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
in all seriousness ive some fond memories of playing V:tM (and was one of those rare non-emo vamps. gawds, i loved playing Tremere or Ravnos), so if this is available elsewhere, ill most likely be picking up a copy. (Though yeah, i was a bigger Werewolf & Mage fan than Vamp.)
Well...getting a local mortal to come by and **** down their necks at least.
