"That's because these things are not very out of the ordinary on this world." ... "In fact, if you were to wait for some time," the new arrival continued, "you will likely see another, though it'll be set together from rusty metal and scavenged construction materials..." |
"I dread to think of the damage it -could- have caused when it popped, you know?" |
"Come to think of it though..." She turned to look at the aliens. "How do you guys know so much about us, anyway? No offense meant, just seems you know more than you logically should."
"I am sure we cana find one damp and roach free to bunk down in, looks a pretty nice area, and Rad free to …" |
------------
"What can you tell me about Portal Corporation?" Amatus asked lldela. |
She paused, thinking for a moment. "And given how we both arrived through randomly appeared rifts between worlds... somehow I doubt that's an isolated incident, so they might be a little busy just at the moment."

Quicksilver just stood idle, rail-rifle sat across both shoulders as he rested his hands on it, letting the humans (and others) chatter. What a bunch. This certainly wasn't the Earth from where he was.
Plus side? No Decepticons. And, from the looks of it at least, no crazy human anti-Cybertronian hit-teams looking to scrap him either.
Down side? No back up, sketchy chance of repairs, and no certain way of getting back home. And, while being the only Cybertronian left in the world might have appealed to some, all Quicksilver wanted to do was kick the breeze with those he knew and liked back home. And this place was pretty far from either.
Something else caught his attention, however, as he tuned his audio receptors slightly further away. A quick scan of the local frequencies confirmed what he thought he heard.
"Uh, that whole matter with the authorities? Yeah, they kinda seem to have their plate full at the moment," he pointed out, as his palm-projector called up the local police band, and speakers played the dispatch chatter relating to an armed gunman gone mad in the same zone, backed by the wail of sirens that was echoed from off down the road.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

The gunman the police were chattering about wasn't hard to find. She simply followed the trail of blood, fire, smoke and corpses right to him. He would likely hear the soft thump of her landing behind him, though unless he possessed the aforementioned enhanced senses or high-tech scanners or equivalent then all he would see if he turned around would be thin air. Thin air that was apparently capable of speaking, as her voice came from nowhere. "Stand down. You're not getting a second warning." And nor would he, if he didn't do as she said and stop shooting people.

"Consider yourself excused," Quicksilver shot back with a faint grin, before jogging a few steps and transforming. The GT form roared and sped off down the road.
As he neared the scene, occasionally managing to catch a blip of the cloaked Ildela as he went, he began to pick up the trail the gunman had left. Something about the destruction, the apparent senselessness of it all, hit a chord somewhere inside the Autobot. Too many memories, too many stories, the fall of Cybertron and the rise of the Decepticons...too, too like this.
The autobot trooper accelerated, transforming and jumping in one fluid motion as he vaulted the line of Police cars, both devastated and still-functional, landing in a crouch with his gun, now back in carbine form, aimed at the figure.
"Yeah, second that. Drop 'em or lose 'em, pal."

She was playing with her new ring as she focused on the reported location when she suddenly disappeared from amongst the group which had been listening. Moments later, the Halfling appeared, standing right next to the leather clad lunatic who was busy firing, apparently indiscriminately, at everyone in the area.
"Crazy warrior priest!" She yelped and frantically glanced around whilst playing with her ring again. Fortunately she seemed to have the knack for how it worked, and she reappeared in the shadow of a dumpster some forty feet away. Hopefully before the priest noticed her and decided to use her for target practice.
Ineloo pulled another binding arrow from her quiver and kept to the shadows to watched as the man continued his attack, ready to assist as soon as the others turned up to deal with him.
"Don't go away mad, just go away..." The best line Clint never said.

The carnage she saw as she arrived was quite shocking, and started to ring certain alarm bells that she really did not want ringing, not here, not while she was the only Dynast in the city, where were the Immaculate Monks when you needed them?
I would do as they say and surrender Mirel spoke harshly as she added her weight to the demands of Quicksilver and lldela, Else you will have to face the wrath of a Prince of the Earth on top of everything else
Farend of Kings Row.
Awesometastic Girl dashes from an alleyway onto the site of carnage, jogging on the spot as she looks around, spots the ranting preacher man and promptly jogs backwards into the alleyway, retracing her steps to spring back to the site of the robot battle.
Hero Gathering
Hey any of you guys heroes? Because weve got some sort of whacko ripping off Boon Dock Saints as he shoots people! she says jogging on the spot, moderately pleased that the destruction isnt quite as destructive as she feared.

"Well." the armored individual who'd been doing the talking continued as the bulk of the gathered departed in quite a hurry, visor looking over those remaining; specifically Ethan, Derek, and the 'Outsider'.
"Since you're still here, I think I'll take the time to answer your questions then." was the judgment, as the others had left without giving that chance, "These buildings are mostly row houses and apartment blocks, so I'd not suggest intruding on those who live there. If you need a place to stay, you're welcome to join us. I'm undecided on whether we'll be booking a hotel or just setting up camp somewhere, so we may be doing both."
"As to law, yes." came the confirmation to Ethan, "Unfortunately, its enforcing is a little...ineffective. Still, the judicial authority here is technically the Paragon Police Department, as well as its attached bureaucracy. The decision makers care called mayor and city council. They tend to reside in City Hall. That will be our next destination, should you care to join us."
"Though if you'd prefer to jump into this other situation first, there isn't very much of a hurry." an armored arm indicated the direction from which Awesometastic Girl had come, "It's likely one of the people here calling themselves 'supervillains' on what they have termed a 'mayhem mission'. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. As I said, the enforcement of the law here is not very effective. However, it is only one, and with the number of people on their way to engage him, I severely doubt he will last more than a minute..."

Amatus tsked. "I do not blow things up. Especially things I need. I would not poison the staff for the same reason." A brief moment of silence. "Now mind controlling spores, on the other hand..." He began.

Elsewhere...
"Into the garden of forking paths, wherein it strides amongst the treetops, taller than the trees, its voice throughout the garden thunder sent to bring...Giants and the djinn, multiplex of wing and eye, whose strong obedience broke the sky. The land of which was full of twisted things, and text, and aching eyes, and lost was all the innocence of anger and surprise…”
As the mysterious stranger passed by, the telephone booth suddenly dialed a call.

Crey Corporation R&D Complex, basement level IV, lab II.
Dr. Wainscott paused as the wall-mounted phone rang. He swore under his breath and carefully extracted his arms from the mess, putting down the trusty pair of surgical scissors he had been using and then winding the plastic sleeves off his arms. Still muttering curses under his breath, he answered the phone.
He hated it when somebody called him in the middle of a vivisection.
“Hello?” He asked curtly. He then yelped with surprise as his answer was a screeching feedback tone. He recovered and hung up immediately. “This line is supposed to be secure from idiot prank-callers…” He grumbled, turning back to his little project – only to see that his computer had booted up, logged itself into the administrator profile and was pulling up his email. All in record time too, usually it took two minutes to do so.
He warily approached his computer and opened the email. First, there was a photo of a strange woman wearing archaic clothing, labeled ‘Mirel.’ Alongside the photo was a stylized color picture of a truly bizarre human DNA strand, and a short report describing the relationship between the woman in the photo and her apparent powers. Below that was a set of coordinates, placing her somewhere in King’s Row.
It called her, “One who is exalted, most commonly referred to as a ‘Dragon Blooded’…”

"Welp," she piped up. The young woman smiled at the armoured newcomer and shoved her hands into the pockets of her leather jacket. "I think getting to bottom of how Derek and I got here sounds more sensible than taking on a mad gunman with nothing but a couple of swords after this mess. Lead the way, kind sir!"
"Hold up a second!" Derek cut in. "I've managed just fine against a whole regiment of riflemen before. Why would this guy be any different?"
"Because, Derek." The Outsider sighed, glaring at her eager-as-ever wanderer friend. "Unlike that -one- time, you were morbidly drunk after only a couple of tankards of ale and somehow managed, by pure accident, to collapse the whole tavern on everyone."
The Outsider looked up once more to the armoured guy and smiled again.
"Sorry about my friend here." She apologised. "He's kind of eager to compensate for... something right now. I'll leave that something up to your imagination, shall I?"
"HEY!!"

"Machine" came the guttural growl of the gunman. Due to his darker skin and the absence of daylight, his face was not clear to see. "Woman... Unseen One... and a Windrider. On what authority do you dare to challenge a soldier of the Most High, ruler of all existence? Be you foolish or just in want of death?"
|
On what authority? She said with a voice the dripped with contempt, I am a scion of the Great House Cathak, Member of the Scarlet Dynasty and descendant of the Scarlet Empress herself
She paused moving into a stance that seemed to challenge an attack from the gunman.
The blood of Daanad herself flows in my veins, I stand astride the pinnacle of the Road of Enlightenment as Prince of the Earth, but one step down from the Dragons themselves
There was a second pause as the blades hidden in her gauntlets flicked out into the open once more.
Be you Anathema or blind fool following a God who has stepped beyond his station, you are by my decree to cease your actions and surrender or be destroyed as an example to all who might follow you
Looking very smug with herself and ready for just about anything Mirel watched and waited for a responce

She turned back to the gunman, apparently some sort of religious fanatic by the way he was talking. The worst kind of fanatic, just her luck. "Putting it bluntly, dude. Stop shooting people or I'm going to stab you. Repeatedly as necessary."

Ildela actually laughed at that. "Oh, I'm sure we can do a little better than just being warm and bug free." She walked over and put a hand on the guy's shoulder. "Maybe we can score a hot and equally radiation free meal, and all", she added with a friendly smirk. She had a pretty good idea which dimension this guy was from, now------------

Ethan grinned at the stabbing idea never get to close to a maddog , best ta put erm down from a distance , the safety slide to the off position .
Mechano looked at the monitor.
"Ok confirmed kill...phew...though I did like the design, very nice, seems that dusty looking fellow took everything worthwhile from it, though I'm not quite sure where he is pulling that stuff from."
A perky female voice came across the radio, "Ok within sight of Kings Row, tracking the police band...seems like we've got a crazed gunman...should I lend a hand?"
"Yes, no doubt it's where our extra-dimensional friends have gone, sending Drones to confirm visual..."
A few seconds passed, tapping his foot impatiently.
"Ok visual confirmed, ooh a big robot, ooh I like that, looks stylish, have words with him see if we can't borrow some of his tech."
"Will do.."
The giant pink Assault bot landed with a heavy thud, cutting off the jets a few feet from the ground. Scanning over Quicksilver.
"Well hello handsome!"
A voice could be heard from within.
"Hey, I said talk to him Elise, not flirt with him!"
The Assault bot sighed.
"You know you're just a bit too overprotective sometimes Dad.."
"Matter at hand thank you Elise, once this is dealt with, kindly explain the situation to them."

But something didn't feel right. Those with enhanced senses, scanners or x-ray vision might learn that this militarized religious leader was a walking arsenal. Throwing daggers strapped to his lower shins, automatic handguns attached to his outer thighs, two criss-crossed waist belts packing numerous gadgets and utilities, as well as a set of occupied gun holsters. His frontage was heavily armoured with a very large high-powered automatic rifle strapped onto it. His arms bore a mechanism that loads claw-like blades into a wrist-mounted gauntlet.
On his back was a round metal shield mounted atop two criss-crossed longblades, pierced vertically by a large broadsword and a wooden staff with spearhead. Hidden in the linings of his heavily armoured leather cassock were several grenades and incendiary devices complimented by several rows of rifle, handgun and shotgun ammunition. Even his white priest collar was razor sharp and designed to be thrown in the style of a boomerang. Each weapon was well concealed under his large coat and engraved with arcane markings of Hebrew or Aramaic origins. "Let's make this quick" he bellowed, arms outstretched.

"Heya kid. Just got a little something here-" he paused just for a moment, as the carbine transformed back to the long-barreled rail-rifle, "to deal with first. 'Cos I really don't trust the walking man-tank-thing."
And, so saying, he fired straight at the dark figure.

"A perceived lack of the size of his genitalia, yes." the armored figure stated flatly, "I've heard of the erratic behavior this can cause among humans. But regardless - as I said, should you wish to engage this man, feel free. I just don't think that there'll be anything left of him to actually fight by the time you get there..." |
Glaring in the wanderer's general direction, she quickly spotted the poor man pouting of all things.
"Fine, fine." Derek grumbled, sheathing the sword that was still in hand and being used to rest upon the whole time he was standing there. "City Hall it is as long as we don't get transmogrificated there or whatever."
The Outsider simply rolled her eyes at 'transmogrificated'.

"Let's make this quick" he bellowed, arms outstretched. |
Should they land (And they quite likely would, even if he jumped aside they'd track him to some extent.) they'd wrap themselves around his arms and legs and lift him helpless into the air, unable to act to save himself from the robot about to blow his brains out with that oversized rifle. Being a religious man, he may in fact recognise the unholy nature of the attack - those things she was throwing were fragments of souls, possibly her own but more likely someone else's.

Assuming there were no objections, the three wouldn't hesitate to show them the way to the Yellow Line station and board a tram there. This being Paragon City of course, and especially with a 'mayhem mission' underway nearby, that might've not been the safest course of action, however...

"Those are out too, possibly even moreso than the others", Ildela interrupted. "People around here take really badly to being mindcontrolled, and then we go straight back to that whole arrest you and throw you jail for several years thing." |
'Just another excuse to get out of this starless place as quickly as possible.' He thought. 'These people clearly do not have a stringent set of laws. And I think none of them even have a Code of Ethics.' And at the final phrase, memories resurfaced. He seemed to phase out for the rest of the tram-ride.
Four shadowy figures block their path back to the ship. Today has been a really bad day - the idiot, half-brained, reptillian half-construct had insinuated in an indirect manner that he was not a good doctor! Amatus had almost snapped and just barely restrained himself from trying to kill them all. So Amatus was feeling somewhat frisky with his powers. This actually looked like it would be fun. Only Taz and Kryk were with him (and the parasite was unlikely to join the fray) so he was definitely going to have to do some actual legwork. "If you are not feeling well, me and Sir Taz can handle these gentlemen by ourselves." Amatus said easily, still relaxed despite all the chemicals he was now dumping into his bloodstream to prepare for the fight. "**** you." Spat Kryk. The insult was punctuated when one of the shadowy gentlemen lodged a knife in Amatus' collarbone. And then, with no warning whatsoever, Taz turned and ran away. Amatus was flabbergasted. Taz was running away, of all people? He was the most violent of the entire bunch - he would never turn down an opportunity to fight, at least not so suddenly and with no reason or warning... Realization dawned. 'He wants me to be killed.' |
Fist-sized balls of metal explosives clattered across the tarmac road, settling precariously beneath the arriving police cars. Before their occupants could escape, the grenades sent all three inbound vehicles skywards in a pillar of smoke and fire. The armed preacher turned his attention back towards the scattering civilians and continued his massacre. Some who stood their ground were judged "faithful" or "innocent" and were not attacked, but others including local criminals, were terrorized and gunned down.
Smoke from burning cars and buildings now rose higher and higher into the clouds. The sirens of ambulances and fire trucks joined that of more incoming police but the militarized gunman remained unperturbed. With deadly purpose he moved further down the streets of King's Row, leaving behind a trail of blood and fire.
