Server differences

Other people who attend events outside California may have a different perspective to offer...

I have attended the Herocon and most of the Meet and Greets out West, and I had some observations:

Virtue has the biggest attendance... by a wide mile, as far as I can tell.

After that, Freedom and Justice are about the same, with the former bringing less than you might expect given their size and the latter bringing more.

Even being a tiny server, Protector gets a pretty good turnout.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Absolutely correct, but there's an easy reason for that. All those servers are located on the west coast. Seems quite natural that the east coast servers had less attendance. Although it made it easier for me to snag 2 Victory table markers.

It's not how many times you get knocked down that count. It's how many times you get up.

I'd say server side has nothing to do with it. I play freedom ("east coast server") and I'm on the west coast. Other than occasional networking issues, there's never been a real difference between them.

My main server is also Champion, Paragon wiki was right on the money with its description of the server. Check out our events Calender on Champion Server thread. Our server channels can be considered our server coalition channels becuase everyone uses these to form pratically everything. Champion community is one giant sg with people having there own storage space, (SG). Drop a toon on Champion even if your from another you just might like it. Our 2 main channels are currently full however new channels have been created or SG channels have opened to keep the information flow going. Also several SG's have opened their VENT for anyone to use.

I play mainly on Virtue and Justice. I'm subscribed to the main global channels, but I don't really interact with the community much (I feel kind of awkward just saying Hi). Virtue is my main server, and people are mostly nice and polite (although there do seem to be more jerkwads there as of late), but it's pretty impersonal for the most part. I really like Justice: there's such a strong sense of community on there and everyone seems so friendly.

I did spend a little time on Freedom, and although I didn't have any bad experiences there, it just seemed very... young. The broadcast chatter and the people I teamed with all seemed like they were teenagers, and it left me feeling like I'd unaccountably walked into a classroom. So it wasn't for me.

I'm also on Protector red-side but... *tumbleweed*. Luckily all my characters there are soloable.

Justice has a distinct purple flavor, with a hint of Soundgarden.

The dirigible in Infinity's Atlas Park will occasionally drop nuclear bombs on players (though there has never been any established correlation between the number of bad costumes assembled under the statue of Atlas and the frequency of nukes. that's just a rumor someone started to drum up more costume contests).

On Guardian, characters have an extra costume change emote, "Spontaneous Combustion". Unfortunately, the costume associated with it is entirely composed of pieces which were removed from the game over the years, so the characters just disappear.

You know all of those stories about alien abductions and probes "down there"? Yeah... Champion. *twitch*

Virtue has three more powersets available than the standard number available on every other server, but no-one knows what they are or how to unlock them yet.

Pinnacle's Hamidon is a cat. Mitos are hairballs. You don't want to know what the goo is.

If you play with 3D stereoscopic glasses on Liberty, pink Cadillacs randomly appear in office maps.

Outdoor zones on Freedom are 14.09% larger than identical zones on other servers.

On Protector, if no-one responds when there's a Fire Alarm in Steel Canyon, the entire zone starts to burn. The server randomly appoints one person to act as fire fighter every day. The last guy who got the job went bonkers... turned out that he hadn't slept for four days, then he was selected to be the fire fighter and couldn't go to bed for another day. Fifth day, he just started eating his own toes.

Triumph has cross-server PvP enabled. It's not connected to any other server, so everyone who tries to PvP ends up trapped in a void between servers, but it is enabled.

Victory is actually a refurbished coffee maker. In honor of that, the server occasionally does zone-wide Speed Boosts on everyone.

For EU server information, just watch any Monty Python skit. They all starred in one at some point.

Pinnacle is the server where the supers hide their derrainged cousins. We are the place minds go to melt. Always room for one more. never goes red during peak hours. Plush carpet, nifty sued jackets and couches, lord the couches.

Pinnacle: You don't have to be drunk to play, but man gog beedle fum da HUH??? Saw thru my stealth... grumble.

Protector is rarely in LFT mode in the open zones, relying much more on global channels and the forums/calendar to organize things. In fact, my main badger is on redside right now and has never had an issue organizing/finding teams - even for SFs or specific badge hunts (Caleb was the last one).

Right now I'm trying to get more mayhem missions done, and I think I need a couple more SFs to complete the set. Look me up if you need a team mate.

Follow the Protector links in my signature for more info re: calendar and the Protector Vigilance channel.
