Wisp Aura Incentive?

I logged in today and was talking about using the NCSoft Launcher (seems to be mostly intergrated) and someone noticed that this 'costume' part is available.

Kind of a funky triple wisp of mist that circles your bodies.

Are we getting something early?

Still here, even after all this time!

Sounds like the 'atomic' aura, but I'm guessing it's not that, right?

The "wisp aura incentive" is a new aura that's unlocked for using the NCsoft launcher, hence why it's called "incentive." I don't think it's unlocked on Live, but I could be wrong.

Oh cool. That's on live already? There was a thread about it in the training room forums. It's an incentive costume freebe to get folks to use the new combined NCSoft launcher.

It's on live.

Is it usable without the Launcher, then?

Not or Note? Because Note is more accurate. You have to use the NCLauncher to get the incentive.

Is there something special you have to do to get this new launcher? I played last night and there wasn't an update.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

As of last night when I used the new NC launcher I was getting the wisp aura unlocked on Test but not on Live. Of course things might have changed since then.

That's cool. I was just making the point that getting it on Live must have been a new change since this morning because that wasn't the case last night. Fun fun.

So if I use the NCSoft launcher once, and then burn all traces of it and go back to the normal CoH launcher, do I get to keep the aura?

On the aura itself, I had tested it on the training room, but only now did I try using the darkest colors. It looks really nice with those. All saturation, very little lum. Good subtle, rich colored wisps.

Definitely like this one.

Maybe, but to be honest I didn't see much wrong with it myself. From what I understand it has been much improved since it was first released. I honestly didn't have any problem with it.

It's going to become mandatory to use it soon enough anyway. *shrugs*

I was asking about the launcher, not the aura. I've not seen anything about it, and the game started up last night without an update, so, what gives?

After a series of recent disasters following a change of software standards at work, this is the sort of thing that sends me into high anxiety mode, especially with the way people portrayed this particular launcher back when the announcement is made. Some of the comments I'm seeing in this thread are fairly reassuring, though.

I'll chime in here with an agreement! The new launcher cut my time from desktop to log-in screen in half, and it's great for having a series of colored lights to make sure all my clients are up to date without having to run three separate launchers.

I honestly don't care how much faster the new loader works. What I care about is how much memory it eats and if it tries to stay resident on the system after it's done. Basically, how much damage to my system am I being expected to endure in the name of NCSoft's marketing department?

/edit- the timing of posts makes it look like I'm being snarky to Spacenut, but I'm not. I'm being snarky to what I've heard about the new loader.

Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.

Just checked, and it uses about 10K while running in the background (running XP). There's an option to have it completely close when you X out if you don't want it running in the background.

It does caused a bit of a problem for those of us who bought the game from Steam and want to launch the game from it, however.

As I said, however, there are ways...
