Ok seriously if anyone ever questioned that smallville seems to get the most untalented, unorginal writers, all you need to look at is the recent episodes since the break.

First episode back should have basicly been titled "The Matrix" this episode was "Date Night" and by the previews next episode is "The Hangover". And by all accounts all this dramtic rip off is just building to what? A confrontation between clark and a absolutely terrible looking dark seid?

We're all just riding this thing out to see Welling in the suit flying off into the sunset in Earth's orbit to the John Williams theme.

I thought that was the point of the show....oh wait...it's to see Tom Welling never get decent work in tv again, right?

This is what I've been saying for years: Smallville's writers watch a movie and then write an episode based on it. Remember how Lana got all wuxia after Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon came out? And the Saw episode? And last season's Twelve Monkeys rip? Sometimes they mix it up and steal from TV, like when Ultimate Fighting started on Spike and then Smallville had themselves a cage match episode.

I think Tom was trying a bit too hard to mimic the mannerisms of Chris Reeves w/ the glasses. But it was nice seeing him in them, though the immediate 180 from the gopher guy was a bit much.

It should be noted that what Welling was doing is called, shock, acting... The character was trying to "mimic" geekier mannerisms and the fact you make that comment shows he succeeded in getting it across that he didn't easily slip into that persona.

What he was doing was the exact opposite of his intended goal. Doing a complete 180 from your previous persona does not, in fact, divert attention from yourself, but draws it to you. The gopher's response was completely not believable.

While Clark could get away with saying, "I've decided to quit wearing contacts and go back to my glasses", for instance, changing from the gung-ho gogetter into the meek and mild nerd (but not changing your style of dress, hairstyle, etc) instantly is not really conducive to maintaining your disguise. It makes it look like you have something to hide.
