I don't really have a problem with that line or some of the lighter tones with which they're approaching Hal, because he has a reputation of being something of a stick in the mud except when it comes to the ladies, so I could understand how they would want to add a little more energy to his character.

I'm not a Marvel fan. But, I like a good movie. Thor looks good. Based on the trailers I'll buy a ticket just as I did with Iron Man. I am a DC fan but based on the trailers I won't be buying a ticket to GL. It looks bad, the casting seems off (especially for Carol.).

Thor - yea
GL - nay

Random comment, but did someone nominate Samuel L. Jackson and Natalie Portman to be permanent characters in geek culture movies and shows? You just can't avoid those two.

I dunno, I think Portman is a good actress, but it would almost have been nice to see this movie populated by lesser known actors (well... maybe keep Anthony Hopkins, depending on how he does). I don't know much about Thor, but... the actor's take on him is interesting. I like that ringing, lower tone he delivers his lines with. Very Norse god-ish, there.

Belated Justice, #88003

I hope so too. I don't like many of DCs characters. Batman is one, and Green Lantern is another... I was hyped when they said they'd be doing a GL film... and then I was very disappointed after seeing the trailer.

I dunno about Portman, but Samuel L. Jackson nominated himself.

Hey, there is no movie that could not be made better with the addition of Samuel L. Jackson.

Dunno about the other stuff, but Sam Jackson is in the Marvel films because Millar and Hitch specifically patterned the Ultimate Nick Fury on him and then went meta with the redesign by commenting on it.

If anything, Natalie Portman seems out of place in that slutty romcom she came out in recently. As far as Thor goes, after this, I'm not too surprised by anything she does.

Haha, I loved that.

As far as her role choices go, let's not forget that she became popular primarily through the terrible Star Wars prequels.
