So, what am I getting myself into?

Maybe they're ERPing in public, maybe they're textfighting and you don't like that, maybe they have something distasteful in their bio. Whatever. That guy is always a bigger jerk than the people he's complaining about.

Are you saying...he lied to me?!

I agree with Warp Factor though. Don't be trollin'.

I'm still having trouble coping with the fact That I have had two pages with no arguing. Have not had that in a long time. This community is much nicer than I am used to.

We can give you a wedgie if it'll make you feel better.

Welcome to Virtue, Noku! Another way to find rp is to join an rp supergroup. Most groups I know about have forums, scheduled events, and regular teaming to promote general rp or specific storylines. Check out Virtue's supergroup directory or the villain group directory. The one for February-August just started, so you may want to keep an eye on those two threads here and there as updates are made. Another option is to use Virtueverse and check out the recruiting categories. (VV is currently down for maintenance I believe, or I'd link you there.) There's a thread for it though, so ransim will most likely let us know when it's back up.

As for Pocket D? Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. Sometimes it's downright hilarious for amusing and/or tragic reasons. Try it out at least once though! Usually if I see people loitering near a group I'm rp'ing with, I'll try to get them involved in the conversation. Especially if they make any indication they're listening to us. I will also try to engage people if I'm by myself, though sometimes I'm really just there to watch the world go by.

Best of luck!

This is good advice too, just make sure you get an SG that's interested in doing the things you want to do in game. Some groups are looking for people who mostly want to run content but stay in character while they do it, others are interested in social RP, others want to run more in-depth storylines. Some are also more accessible to new RPers than others, so you'll want to take that into account. Activity level is important too; if you're comfortable with doing a lot of pickups, a lower activity group might be fine for you. If you want SG activity on a very regular basis, you'll want to be sure to get a group that does a lot of preplanned activities or who just have a lot of players active on a regular basis. If there's anything you absolutely can't tolerate (ERP, text fighting, the usual complaint fodder), keep that in mind too. Don't be afraid to ask questions or to say no to an SG that doesn't fit your needs, but don't be a dick about it.

Great costume! See your the kind of person, if I were a Dev lurking these boards and seeing that you'd have an email with a code for the Ritki costume/model waiting for yah.

Totally awesome!

PS: Welcome back Noku! You'll be fine. I've got some toons on Virtue too but I float arround a lot. Main is Victory. PD is ok but I see lots of folks in AP and I guess you could just start up anywhere. Throw the bone and if someone picks it up... there yah go. I like doing the odd line in missions. Captive audience. hehe I never worry about spelling or punctuation properly but enough that I'm understood appart from massive lag induced typeo's... man those are the worst. It wasn't even you so you can giggle about it. ;p Just stupid computer skippin a beat while your typing.

Thanks! RR here came about as part of "Build Your Best Rikti" a just for fun costume challange someone posted back around issue 10. And after reading this I ran and checked my mail... no Rikti code... I guess you're really not secretly a Dev, RogueDemonhunter...curses!

Anyway I can also back up Warp Factor with his assertions. Good RP is where you make it. Enjoy and welcome back Noku!

I just kinda want to know what I may be getting into, what I should do to prepare, and just some general advice. It would be greatly appreciated. I have a character on Virtue already, a Dark/Dark Scrapper with the Magic origin, and I'm working on some background story for him. So once again, any advice, preferably leaning towards the good, constructive side, would be greatly appreciated.
It's best to make your first RP toon deaf and mute.

I've noticed that people are a lot more relaxed on Virtue than they were a couple of years ago about not totally RPing all the time. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's a fun server to play on with lots of people.

You know the alien language thing does make for some great schtick. I've used it often...

PAX Lawbringer- Bug from the future who communicates with aid of a "vocoder" that wasn't fully programmed with that archaic language "Anglish". Fodder for lots of puns "un-intentional" confusions. He's positively ****-phonic!

Rogue Rikti- Rikti Speak: Communication : Failure : Often : Duh! Hurr hurr hurr hurr!

Rikti Mancer- See : Above : Ditto!

I once had a dog themed character ran around barking and growling like Lassie or Rin Tin Tin... best part he was a tank so he got to run on ahead of everyone in a mission just like your own loveable mutt one you unleash him...

Notoriously bad accents also can count here and when you two or more characters get together with DIFFERENT accents things can go crazy. I have fond memories of when the Sushi Schoolgirl Squad ran into Comrad Smersh in the Indepence Port Icon...

That... is a hilarious idea. XD

I also love the Rikti-speak. Was once on a team with a guy who 'Rikti-rolled' us. "Imperative: Never!" and stuff like that. I wouldn't help but laugh.

Qwerty Rikti-rolled Pocket D once. I missed it, sadly, but I saw the screenshots and they were pretty hilarious.
