I think it was only a rumor; we got the vanguard pack instead. Or at least there hasn’t been anything official on it.

technically its a rumor, but it is a strong rumor.

we have images from the devs of dog/wolf head, cat heat, bird head, bird feet, dragon feet, and demo edit version of the coming beast run from players...

There are multiple threads, all over the place about it.

The dragon feet aren't new.

The ones in the picture were... big splayed toes as I recall.

Animal Pack should have been the loyalty gift, not re-gifted Vanguard pieces that we either have or could earn easily.

I disagree.

I get 5-600 merits on a good raid, 1-200 on a crappy one. I don't even alt that much, compared to some people, and I don't have the time or inclination to run 2-10 raids on every character I want the Vanguard pieces on, and an extra raid or two for those that use weapons. And I always get the salvage sack. Plus there's the Costume Change Emote and HVAS for those characters that want them. That's not really what I'd call "easy". And getting them without raiding is even less "easy".

And if my character concept calls for one of the pieces at character creation? Too bad, come back when you're 35.

And while we're on the subject, how many Merits do I have to turn in for the Vanguard Mini?

Really, what you're doing is the same as the kid who opens their Christmas present and breaks it beacuse it's not what they wanted. do you consider that acceptable behavior?

If you really don't want the Vanguard Pack, cancel your billing, and don't resub until the day after your account expires. Problem solved.

Yeah, I've got a character for whom a Talsorian Sword (or whatever they're calling it these days) would be perfect.

No, not a lightsaber. Geez.

Still, I'm definately looking forward to Beast Run too, for much the same reason.

I was hoping that the powers that be would announce this thing today

Avian heads and feet are my $10, and $10 for my boyfriend as soon as they are up.

Maybe next week?

Altoholism isn't a problem, its a calling.

60+ characters, 5 years, 3 50's.

Seriously?

I have an honest disagreement with a loyalty reward and I'm treated to this?

I think CoH is free to charge for the Animal Pack and give away crummy loyalty stuff. Doesn't mean I have to fall into line with every decision.

How about we let mature folks discuss topics in an adult fashion and we don't act like teenage fanboiz who have to like everything CoH does?

You also seem to miss the central point of the post.

Giving the Animal Pack (new content) as a loyalty reward would be better than giving old content since most veterans already have the Vanguard uniforms.

No. It wouldn't.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who subbed a 3-month block when the Loyalty pack was announced, to guarantee that I got it. Since I usually sub 1 month at a time, they just lost $3. Now they "owe" me a free booster pack.

Option 1: They give me the Vanguard Pack. I'm happy because I get a stuff I couldn't have had before (Lowbie Vanguard stuff, the Vanguard Mini, and Vanguard Merits I can spend on Incarnate and other rewards, instead of wasting on costumes). NCSoft loses $5-7 (I assume this will be priced similar to the low-cost packs). The production cost is fairly low, since many of the resources already exist, so it's easy for NCSoft to eat the loss.

Option 2: They give me the Animal Booster. I'm happy because I get stuff I was going to pay for anyways for free. NCSoft loses $10. The production cost is comparatively high, because the only thing that already exists in-game is the power stats for [Beast Run], which probably would have taken 5 minutes to punch into the database anyways. Since the production cost was high, and none are sold at all, and many people switched to a lower cost subscription model, the company slips into the red this quarter.

Which one is the better business model?

TL; DR: Free stuff is free. Stop whining just because you wanted something else for free.

It would also be inconsistent, since none of the Booster Packs so far have been loyalty rewards.

And I do NOT have the Vanguard uniforms. I've never wanted them on any of my characters that are currently over 35. As I said above, the only character I want it for, isn't yet 35. And my being a Veteran does not in any way change that I have to wait for 35.

I like beast run but I for one would only buy the pack if we could get beast heads as shoulder details

I only have half the uniform parts on my main. None of my alts are 35. I'm a 33-month Veteran. I have several alts who would love the Vanguard pieces, but none of them are over 35.

Hearing about the Vanguard pack being a loyalty reward was the greatest thing ever to me, since yeah it's old content, but it's old content that you had to unlock late in the game, like Auras.

ON that note I'd like to mention that the Origin, Going Rogue, and Cyborg packs are complete and utter game changers for me specifically because they give me auras at start allowing me more flexibility of concept. The vanguard pack will do the same.

Agreed, except for the origin pack but I would have gottten it if it had a kanji aura that worked like the rune aura.
