Well I've traveled all over the world and taken many hundreds of pictures but didn't always have such a great camera so
I taught myself how to fix up photos out of necessity more than anything. It can be a fun challenge sometimes too.
Thanks guys, decided to try another Dante's this time.
Corrected the blue-ish cast in the shadows and the red-ish eye glare.
I had to kind of guess at the real color of his eyes (went with slate blue)
and that his shirt was black. Also fixed up the skin tone and the dark circles
under his eyes and got rid of some background artifacts and dust flecks.
Couple little blemishes corrected for good measure.

P.S. Don't ask why I fixed the pit marks in the wall behind him... they just had to go.

One thought on that... try turning up any indirect lighting in the room (if possible) and then putting an image
of black or dark grey on the screen (hint: open any image editing app and use the paint bucket to fill it or, barring that,
turn the brightness and contrast way down on your screen).
Shrink or tuck off to the side whatever app needs to run to capture the image and then try it.
You'll probably get a much better result initially and also you will have a better starting point from which to edit if you choose to.
You can always add brightness and contrast if an image is a little too dark but if you completely out part of it (all white) when you do turn
the brightness down there will be nothing left in that space for you to edit and you'll have to try and re-create information that no longer exists.
