Dr. Who sound effects.

Check that thread out, it covers a lot of the crazy places that Coh Music shows up outside the game. I don't know if anyone brought up the Dr Who selection, if noone has report your findings there.
I know that Cryptic when developing CoH used a number of royalty-free stock sound effects and other items.
Heck, the main typeface used in the game is Red Circle, which at the time the game came out was a royalty-free font.

I see myself as witty, urbane, highly talented, hugely successful with a keen sense of style. Plus of course my own special brand of modesty.

I have noticed on multiple occasions and as recently as the last episode (the Christmas one) that many sound effects from CoH/CoV are used as sound effects on Dr. Who.

While I've never investigated the source, my theory is that there's the equivalent of a SFX collection that circulates, whether through sales or bootlegs, among the foley artists in the entertainment industry.

I noticed the sort of, computer room background noise, the one with the almost tuneful computer bleeps in the 2010 series, when the Doctor is captured in the Silurian lab.
There is a spot in one of the lab maps in COH that has the same computer beeping noise that was in Quake 2. It is the one where as you enter, straight ahead is a ramp going up, to the right is a big, open, raised room, and to the left is a balcony room. The computer noise is up in the balcony.

I believe there are various packs that people in the biz can buy/license.

The BBC even offered a CD of classic sound effects, from the original series Doctor Who to Blake's 7 and H2G2, by their Radiophonic Workshop.
I've definitely heard the radio call from the police drones several times out-of-game. The exact same one.
Magus Prime- lev 50 kin/ elec defender
Meta-Human- lev 50 fire/ ss tank

Dragonhyde- lev 50 wp/ sm tank
On The Pinnochle server!
Yeah the Police Drones radio call is basically THE 'background police radio noise', I've heard it in any game involving cops and in just about every American Cop show going.
Weird one I heard was I swear I've heard the 'doom doors' noise on so many programs.
Edit: was searching while posting but apparently the noise the doors made in Doom actually has its own trope page...and is now an incredibly common sound effect.

Yep, I was going to post this too.
My wife always looks at me oddly every time I exclaim "Doom Door" at the TV, for some reason.
My son pointed out that at least one of the sounds from the TARDIS is used in one of the Dark sets.
The sound effect that I have heard reused in the most places has to be one that I remember from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, though it could well predate even that. It's like a quick electronic swish. Shows up in all sorts of tv shows.
It's labeled 'energy1' in a zip file I found with SMAC sounds.

I searched the forums for any discussion of this and couldn't find anything. I'm assuming that in an MMORPG community as large as this one many of you have seen the reboot of Dr. Who that began in 2005. I have noticed on multiple occasions and as recently as the last episode (the Christmas one) that many sound effects from CoH/CoV are used as sound effects on Dr. Who. Am I the only one that has noticed this? Has this ever been discussed on here? If it has, have any of the developers ever commented on it? Just curious.
