Temp Powers and inf sink.
Hmmmm.....
Remove all temp recipes/costumes from drops? That, no. Things like Recovery Serum and the "helper" NPCs I think end up fine for what they do with being dropped.
The others?
Costumes: Eh. At this point, just add them to the tailor. There are so many sitting on the market it's just an extra step or two.
Some, make purchaseable (already crafted and ready to use) - such as the bat. Common items. These should also be able to be dropped as ready-to-use powers. (I mean, c'mon, a Hellion drops a bat, you can pick it up - why would you need to say "Oh, a bat!" and run off and make one for yourself?) Leave these as charge-based.
Some, leave as recipes. (Plans for a power analyzer drop, for instance.)
Some... split. Leave the reinforcement as it is but purchaseable, make a heavier one you can only have one of but it drops (perhaps a timer limit there?) and the like.
I'd think it'd be something that would have to be gone over on a case by case basis.
I'd be happy if we could get the stolen SMGs as findable/purchasable temp powers...

Amen. Over the holiday weekend, I played from December. 24-1st and got 5 of each of these based on 12 hours of play daily:
St. Louis Slammer
Recovery Serum
Revolver
Gabriel's Hammer
Stun Grenades
Hand Grenades
Plasmatic Taser
Envenomed Dagger
But I just deleted them because my recipe space was just too valuable.
Also, I did get some temp powers that were very useful over that weekend too. Temp power that increased my salvage storage from 50-60.
If I could get more varied temp powers I would be less angry about it but the above was all I consistently got.

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

Overall, I like this suggestion. Probably will need some tweaking, but a good start.
This is the key chord that should suggest that something's wrong with the temporary power recipes. People are just deleting them without even giving them to a vendor, much less putting them on the market.

That's my strategy as well. I delete the common IO recipes too, unless I'm near a vendor or know right off which character to email it to.
Seriously, the drop tables need to be cleaned up, not cluttered up more.
Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
That was the Vanguard Storage Sack. It's not a recipe drop, you craft it with Vanguard Merits in the Rikti War Zone.

1. go to SG
2. view my recipes & salvage
3. get a notepad to write down what I needed
4. Go to my personal storage
5. Go to my SG rack storage
6. Go to my SG vault storage
7. Go back to invention station in the SG and craft items.
8. Space is limited so I had to go to market to sell stuff
9. Space is limited in all my storage so I had to pick and choose what to craft.
10. Craft
11. change my build to apply, if not wait 15 minutes
12. Email my stuff to my other characters
13. Repeat steps 2-12
Can you understand why I just deleted them now? The temp powers aren't worth much on the black market. Also, once you craft them, can you sell them? My few temps I added were auto added as soon as crafted.
Please forgive me. I was grinding to get all 270 shards over that 10 day holiday weekend. I was doing the LGTF back to back(4-7 times daily). I tried to post most of my stuff in the market but to craft these things takes time to put the materials together. It was standing in the way of my goals.

I very much disapprove of limiting temp powers, because they're useful for concept characters. Someone I know, I believe, has a character who's pretty much all pool powers and temp powers. I have a concept character who wants to have pretty much every conceivable temp power even though they're only marginally useful.
I would like to point out that not only do I use Temp powers... I use them a lot. On some alt's like my Illu/storm Rogue Demonhunter I want MOAR! specificaly the shotgun that looks like a shotgun. I've only ever managed to score this with one alt (but it wasn't him... he's a Hero only toon and the bank sides gave it to a red side cor. ;p) Frankly I wish the holy shotgun from Strig would dump the frankengun animation for a SHOTGUN.
Besides... Why would you want to limit temps? My controller toons and anything else too low to have a proper attack chain or just needs that extra mag 2 stun from the stun-nades shakes their tiny fingerless mittens at you OP. ;p Just cause they clutter? For heavens sake so do the slow set recipes and nay fear set that isnt glimpse and any confuse set that isn't Mal and any other set that has foolishly underpowered set bonuses. That's what delete recipe is there for. Who doesn't like the first salvage tier Backup Radio anyway?.... unless your in Preatoria.... those pets suck comapred to the Bue and Red counterparts... I admit. Recovery serum for early levels before you have 3 SO or crafted end rec enhancers in Stam? Or if your using end heavy sets in a prolonged bout? The joy of using any and all targeted temps with rad infection or any other def debuff?.... The happiness in using the hammer on any alt once you have tactics or set bonus accuracy or have just hit build up or aim and have blown your attack chain but that boss has a 4th or less of health left. BAM! "Take that sucker!"
Don't use temps.... Sheesh! Way to generalize. ;p
PS: The dagger has -REGEN (nuff said)
I don't think Fleeting Whisper wasn't implying that there's something wrong with players for not putting them on the market but with the recipes themselves. As you noted the recipes don't really go for much and the powers themselves are untradeable. His point was that the fact that there is no demand shows that players don't care about them which means the powers were unsuccessful as a concept.

I think some people are getting confused as to what the exact purpose behind this suggestion was. Allow me to clarify once more.
This suggestion has nothing to do with "limiting" temp powers. This suggestion has to do with removing a good bundle of temp recipes from the drop table. It's no secret that temp recipes drop at a far too frequent rate and many, many of us delete them as fast as we can get them.
Now, I also realize that some people do use the temp powers which is the reasoning behind making them purchasable. This way, people who do want temp powers still have a way to get them, even saving some time from having to craft it. In fact, if the temp powers became purchasable, it is conceivable that more people will actually start use them. After all, it will be little more than a just quick pit stop at a vendor, not unlike picking up some SOs in-between missions.
Lastly, if the temp powers became purchasable, it would also become an additional form of inf sink. It may not be a particularly effective one since I can't imagine any temp powers costing millions of inf to buy but it is still one none the less. As for the my original comment regard limiting the amount of temp powers a character can have at any given time, that was really just a side note for balance reasons. I don't know if that's necessary or not given I rarely bother with temp power recipes. In any case, that side note has little to do with the core concept behind my suggestion.
I've seen a lot of people complaining about the absurdly high temp power recipes drop rates. I've also seen a lot of people suggesting that more inf sink is needed for this game. Well, I have a solution to kill two birds with one stone.
1. Remove all of the temp recipes from the drop table entirely (even the costume ones).
2. Make them purchaseable with inf instead.
Costume recipes can be purchased through a new vendor located in every tailor. A new vendor could also be added to each zone that sells temp powers, kind of like the jetpack vendor. The pricing for temp power would also have to be scaled to character level, sort of like how tailor fees are calculated.
Of course, the one problem with this system would be the charge based temp powers. I propose to have those changed to duration based but with long cool-downs between each activation. They would also be flagged as unenhanceable by global recharge modifiers. Lastly, to prevent characters from becoming overpowered by loading themselves up with a dozen temp powers, maybe make it so that each character can only have 3 such temp powers at any given time.
So, do you all think this is a viable idea or just completely insane?
