But there's not really a proper cat head - or a big cat head - like you'd only need one big cat head with coloring options to make a lion or a tiger or a jaguar and so on.

I want a good cat head. I want a good ibis, crocodile, and multiple other heads as well. The Egyptian (and other!) pantheon needs in-game representation, and I need reasons for more alts!

Did anyone notice the image for our new dev Second Measure they posted on facebook? Nice eagle head there in the screen shot from the character screen. I'm guessing someone's getting his wish at a future date.

I agree with all those, except the cat head. Felines are only a small part of the animal kingdom, a part we've covered enough as is with tails, whiskers, ears, claws, and even a robotic cat-looking face from the Cyborg pack. Not to mention this game's already borderline City of Catgirls. Lets see some variety. Heads that'd be much more unique and not already given to us:

Bull/Minotaur
Eagle (which is obviously coming)
Stag
Alligator
Raptor
Rat
Shark
Gorilla (Especially now with the ghoul flex emote)
Insect

Regarding any future animal-themed booster packs and costume parts, I'm going out on a very sturdy limb right now and speculating that there'll be a substantial forum contingent that claims "this pack doesn't fit those of us who want animal concepts" and that it "isn't animalistic enough." You heard it here first, folks!

Ooh--a new nuke that knocks the nuker up/back like the WSPDR generator explosions. I would use that even without any targets, just for the wheeeeeee. The only problem would be that a nuke doesn't recharge fast enough to use it as a travel power.

Actually based on the first screen shot featuring just two of the new eagle parts, I'd say the complaints might be in the opposite direction: as in these are too beastly and not anthropomorphic enough.

Speaking to the (first?) animal booster pack as a whole:

Considering how all the packs have gone, I'd only expect 2 full animal costumes with maybe a couple variations and options on each. A bird themed set will obviously be one. Jay's tease hints at some sort of furry beast running through the shadows on all fours. Cat? Dog? Rat? Generic beast fur shoulder and chest details? Time will tell on that one.

And speaking specifically to this first teaser image, some of my immediate questions:

Though it will be fun to see some new bird beast characters and an inevitable few griffens as well, I'm most curious to see if there are more bird like offerings for the rest of the body that can be used for more general costumes. Feather shoulder or collar bits? Feathery cuffs? Arms or glove bits with a line of feathers arcing down or back, similar to the finned gloves?

Also will we get any other birdlike heads beyond the very distinct eagle head? At least a different beak shape for a more sparrow like bird or a hawk? Or head details with wilder tufts of feathers?

Either way, I'm pleased that some sort of beast/manimal/anthropomorphic set is on the way. It has been requested for a long time. And even if there ends up not being alot that I was hoping for, if it is diverse enough I'm sure there will be SOMETHING in it I find useful. *fingers crossed* on a beastly run power, which could work for certain rooftop raider and or monstrous types of mine.

"Robotic cat-looking face from the cyborg pack?" Those face pieces look as cat-like as a coffee pot does.

Besides. None of them have a proper shape to them. A "snout," if you will. I want one that's shaped properly. (Which is the problem with most of the "monsterous" heads right now anyway, IMHO. I think I've managed to use them *once* in a way I'm happy with.)

You can already get pretty close on this. Just need a face2 set of mandibles.

Actually, I think there's enough stuff to make boosters for different animals
Like a cat booster would have a normal cat head, plus a big cat head, with fur textures to make the big cat head into a lion, or a tiger or a panther and so on - and there could be cat paws as feet and hand parts too.
Then they could do somehtign similar with dogs, with parts to make a normal dog or a fox or a wolf - and then they could do the same with birds, and then bears, and so on - they could spin out the animal stuff into several booster if they wantyed to

Who cares about furries! I've always wanted to make toons like some of my old favourite cartoon characters! Who says animals can't be super heroes or super villains?

For instance:

Secret Squirrel
Morocco Mole
Danger Mouse
Penfold
Stiletto
Nero
Baron Greenback
Count Duckula
Scooby Doo
Hong Kong Phooey

A couple left on their own. The mass lay off was probably just extras they hired to work specifically on GR. No biggie.

Countless comics have had animal characters in them as Heroes. These range from the almost full-on animal, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Mentor, "Splinter" all the was up to Marvel's Tigra, who is basically a human woman with fur, claws and a cat tail -- her ears are even human. Let's not even look overseas at Japan and the millions of magical cat-girls that have graced the pages of their manga over the last two decades.

Heroes like those in TMNT, or any sort of Were-beast or Mutated / Uplifted Animal such as the creations of the High Evolutionary. One need not be ashamed that they like Tigra, or think she's a cool character -- or even that they like cat-girls in general.

I would not object to an Animal Pack, but I do not think it would be a big seller. I think that no matter what, Animal Hero and Villain characters have (thus far) always been and would most likely remain a minority in CoX, even if more costume parts were made available.

In my opinion, the number of people who would purchase such a pack would be small -- those development resources would be better spent on new mission tilesets, more character faces and other dramatic costume pieces of the level of quality seen in the Magic Pack.

I think one of the resons to add animal parts is to fill a gap in the costume creator, especially as animal parts are something that another thing can claim to have a better selction of than CoH right now.

Animals are fine when their theme is actually being part animal and using those animal skills to fight/cause crime. Like Tigra or the Lizard. But most of the time, what I see are people that have one particular theme, like being Iceman or Superman, plus cat ears and a tail slapped on for no reason and serve no purpose. Or cat-folk that walk around acting like actual house cats. I see at least two or three a day. Not a hint of creativity or originality.

These are also the same people that moaned and groaned when the mutant pack had no animal parts. Because mutant apparently = animal, and nothing else. I approve of the animal pack, so long as it's not the "Furry Pack" and instead tries to provide a wider variety of animal pieces.

Plus, like I've said, we've got enough damn cat pieces.
