A New Time Trailer

Looks like they're turning Ahsoka to the Dark Side. While it is a logical conclusion to what would happen to her (since she's not in Episode 3) it's still has me a little sad that it's going to happen.

I love how everyone assumes that simply because a character was not in a movie that she was not even created yet to be in that she must die or meet some tragic fate before that time frame.

I mean it couldnt be that by the time episode 3 starts that she has graduated from Padawan to full Jedi Knight and just isnt hanging out at Anakin's side anymore and is in another part of the galaxy when order 66 goes down.

Anyhow, when the series returns they are saying there is going to be a "dark sister" trilogy of episodes, being the success of the series of which she is a part of, and the normal progression of episodic television to not dramaticly **** with established characters, personally I dont think any "fall" that she sucumbs to will be permanate. Im thinking much more like a situational fall from grace like Luke when facing the emporer in RotJ.

Just a random thought, but there is that quick scene in the trailer where they are walking across a sunlit glade as a wave of shadowy corruption sweeps up behind them. There are also a few scenes that seem to show two winged creatures, one light, one dark. It's possible that she's simply possessed. Not that this means they can't kill her, just that there *may* be something going on besides simply going over to the Dark Side.

Is it me or does Anakin yell 'NOOO' a lot across his lifetime?

It's not you. He does it a lot. He doesn't seem to get it out of his system until *after* he's been Darth Vader for a while.

had to be done.

/in a related note. i'm really enjoying the clone wars. just a thought, but i always considered the death of ashoka to be the death of the jedi that's shown with the execution of order 66, where the stormtroopers line up behind her. sorry, no video clip for effect.

Just watched the new trailer, I've missed the majority of this season due to the positioning of Supernatural's current timeslot.. and now with Fringe going to Fridays.. ugh.. I really need a new DVR or CN needs its own online hub

Starwars.com usually has the most recent episode up by Monday morning and they keep it up for about a week. Granted, this doesn't help you catch up with the first half of the season, but you can watch this half now that you know.

Though, looking at the site right now, they appear to have at least 4 of the most recent episodes up, so you might be able to catch up.

I'm pretty sure that the Jedi in the movie is supposed to be Shaak Ti. Ahsoka didn't exist until they started the new series. Of course, given George's willingness to retcon his own movies in the most bizarre ways (Han shot first, Luke *silently* hurled himself to almost certain death, etc,) anything is possible. In fact, I'm almost certain that one of the Jedi shown to have been killed in the movie officially got better, due to the fact that she was originally from "Lucas approved" material set *after* the Emperor took over. Or at least, that's what I remember reading somewhere. (No, really, it's true. I heard it from my uncle's cousin's former roommate.)

And decided to check Wookiepedia today to see if they updated Ventress' Biography to match the origin told in the Clone Wars last night annnnd they did.

I personally think her new origin is kinda silly: She went from being born into the Nightsisters (who are are as hardcore Dark Side as Palpatine), to slave, to Jedi padawan, to Dark Jedi, to Sith apprentice, to Nightsister again.

Original Origin:
Ventress' back story is explained in "Hate and Fear", a story from the Star Wars: Republic comic book series. She hails from the planet of Rattatak, the daughter of farmers. From an early age, she endures cruel whippings that begin when warlord Osika Kirske kills her parents. Ventress barely escapes with her life and encounters the Jedi Master Ky Narec, who had crashed on Rattatak. Narec and Ventress are both hunted by Kirske, and so he trains her in the ways of the Jedi so she can defend herself. Kirske kills Narec before Ventress can become a full-fledged Jedi, however. She develops an implacable hatred of the other Jedi who had abandoned her master and ignored the bloodshed on her planet.

Ventress soon becomes a force of authority on her lawless homeworld, defeating most of the remaining warlords and getting her revenge on Kirske. She keeps Narec's lightsaber as a memento.

George's sandbox. Everybody else is just marking time.

Eh. They could retcon the Jedi in the movies to be Ahsoka.

After all, Lucas personally declared the first Force Unleashed game to be the canon linking story between Episode 3 and Episode 4, at the time it was released. And Shaak-ti appears in that game.

Right. Like I said, Shaak Ti was shown getting killed in the movie and has since officially gotten better. That's why I've never understood the fanaticism in various fandoms over "canon." Especially when even the original *creator* of the fiction in question isn't as obsessed with "preserving canon" as many of the fans. Granted, George is an extreme case, since I'm sure that somewhere there is some example of him contradicting his own canon in more or less the same sentence.

Lucas Retconned the New Mandalorians to be canon, and the Rebellion symbol to be a family crest(and that whole Force Unleashed plot that was horrible IMHO),Asajj to be another dark side wannabe and not an interesting character. He's probably going to retcon Ashoka to be Anakin's long lost sister or something. Why not?He screwed up a lot of stuff anyway!

Which "New Mandalorians" do you mean?

The Boba Fett era Mandalorians?

The Karen Traviss Mandalorians?

Or the Clone Wars Mandalorians?

Which really only serves to show how many times even just that aspect of Star Wars has been retconned and altered.

New Mandalorias probably refer to the ones in the clone wars, being pacifists.

I like to think of it as not as simple as yet another one-note nomadic warrior culture(which lets be honest that's what Traviss was pushing/selling), instead a culture/people that are trying to be pacifists, but have a history with firm militaristic roots.

Actually,it has been stated that the New Mandalorians that are shown in the Clone Wars 3D(we have to differ this crap from Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series)are actually a mandalorian sect that wants to go against the ancient mandalorian traditions.
In resume, crap. They are not a "new people",or anything. They are a way Lucasarts made to try to get new action figures, and ended losing one of its best authors(IMHO)
