Installing the program worked without a hitch for me on Win7 x64. I do not have UAC on, however.

Sadly, we haven't implemented the Alpha Slot yet, but you'll be seeing that in an auto-update later this month. If you have your Auto-Update feature turned on, then you should already be getting the new version when you next activate Mids... Or you can choose to update from within the program. If you really, really want, then you can get a new install exe from the Titan Network.

Have fun!

Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.900

MidsÂ’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.90 - December 2010

Game Build
Power database in line with game build 1900.201011102104.8 (Issue 19)

Changes & Updates:
  • Added Inherent Fitness
  • Added Prestige Sprint powers to inherent section
  • Powers with Pseudo-pet effects, like Lightning Rod, should work with Fiery Embrace
  • Added 4 column layout
  • Added vertical scrollbar to inherent section in order to allow for more inherent powers. This means that Kheldians have been given access to Ninja Run once more
  • Fixed duplicate salvage bug
  • Fixed salvage alphabetical order bug
  • Reduced max IO level from 53 to 50
  • Fixed crash when moving from Controllers to Dominators
  • Fixed various other crash bugs
  • Various tweaks to code, making it run faster and smaller

Known Issues
  • Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
  • The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.
  • 60 Month Vet reward button not added. *This means taking a Tier 3 travel pool power at level 6 or higher is automatic for everyone. *You need to know whether or not you are eligible for this reward or you must take your travel power at level 14 or higher.
  • Flight Speed values are currently incorrect. On Live they are bugged such that Blasters have the value that the Issue 18 patch notes say they should, while all other ATs have a higher value.

That will cause the popups to never happen, and it will run without a problem.

Thanks much, guys, looking forward to the Alpha slot version

Uninstalled again, ran it as an admin, still have the popups. Not sure what to do about it. Don't see an mhd.mhz file anywhere in my Mid's folder, either.

One bug to report, though: PvPIO's are only showing the PvE bonuses.
I wasn't aware the NCSoft developers took over the production of mids. Maybe it's because PvPIOs no longer drop in the game.

Excellent. Thanks for the reply!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Installed it from the .exe (I keep the versions separate - old unix habit )

Anyway, it works great, and I'd like to echo my gratitude for the work
you guys are doing to provide the community with this program.

I especially want to applaud the reinstatement of the mouseover popups
on powers and enhancements -- I didn't realize how incredibly useful those
are until 1.810 stopped doing them.

If you're soliciting end-user opinion, count me as another who'd like to see
the various bonus powers click selectable for visibility (if you have/want
them shown), and not displayed by default otherwise (the 2-column version
is quite unreadable even when set to same size as the old versions).

Once again, thanks for the awesome work, guys.

Regards,
4

In a thread in Player Questions it was reported that PvP IO recipes are currently the only reward dropping in PvP...
Not sure which to believe, but there it is.

A bug i've only just noticed is that Mids' currently has a tendency to set IO levels to 30 seemingly at random when changing around slotting. i'll open a build, reorder some of the IOs in some powers, and the new IOs will frequently be set to 30 even if the set goes to 53.

If you trust the source of the program (and I assume you do as we're talking about the Mids folks) and don't mind allowing a program to always run as Administrator, I found that you can work around the problem by right clicking on the shortcut you're using, or on MHDLoader.exe, and selecting the Compatibility tab. There's an option at the bottom to "Run this program as an administrator." After that, you'll get a little confirmation box when you run the program; click "Yes" and it will open and run just fine.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to add a word of thanks to the Mids developers. I love this program so much now; tweaking my characters builds in Mids has become its own little mini-game to me.

Excuse me if this has been mentioned before:

Is it just me, or has the defence values for "Stealth" from the Concealment pool been revereted to display the non-combat values again? (ie, you have to divide by half if you want the values when you're in combat to see if you're at softcap while something).

Ok, running into a really annoying problem. Ever since version 1.9 came out... I can only run the program once, on an install. ANY attempt to launch the program after the initial install results in a DB error and the program bombing. Basically, I need to reinstall it EVERY time. I have Windows 7 64 bit and never had any problems.. has anyone else seen this?

EDIT-

OK, for whatever reason, once I installed the program folder to the desktop, I am fine.. weird.

That is strange. i'm running Win7 64 bit as well and Mids' has been working fine in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Titan Network\Mids Hero Designer\MHDLoader.exe"
i am running Titan Sentinel out of a folder on the desktop.

Not sure if I'm the only one noticing this, but a heads up for you Diellan...

With set bonuses, it seems to not be following the rule of 5. On occasion it's allowing me to slot the same bonus 6 or 7 times, specifically with the 1.25% Energy/Negative bonuses.

Noticed it on an EM/EA Brute build while trying to add more regeneration with the Pounding Slugfest set, and saw it also added the 1.25% Energy/Negative bonus as well, for a sixth time.

Already had three Reactive Armor sets, The Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control set, and one three set of Pounding Slugfest when I noticed the sixth bonus add in. (Which all give the same 1.25% Energy/Negative bonus)

Also had it happen while experimenting on an Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker build, and had the 1.25% Energy/Negative bonus apply seven times.

Its not the value of the bonus that matters it's the name. Gaussian doesn't give a 1.25% to En/Neg, it gives a 2.5% to range 1.25% to en/neg(Moderate Increased Ranged/Energy/Negative Energy) which is different from Reactive Armor and Pounding Slugfest's 1.25%to En/Neg .625% range (Tiny Increased Energy/Negative Energy/Ranged), you can stack up to 5 of each.

Thanks for the response!

Always wondered if there was actually a difference between those two, because of the naming rule. This makes it clearer, and settles that.

Thanks again!

Yes. Look for the next version for a solution to this problem. Hint: it involves checkboxes in the Configuration window.

We're seeing a lot of issues with Windows 7 in terms of administrator access. The current work around is to install somewhere besides C:Program Files. The next version (coming soon to a desktop near you!) is a bit smarter about this, and should resolve some of these problems.

Power Siphon isn't an attack.

Right, I get that. But the description of the power previously stated that it accepted Taunt sets (and Mids' previously allowed them). But the power didn't actually take them.

Set Categories IO ToHit Buffs.png To Hit Buffs
IO Taunt.png Taunt (Brute/Tanker only)

My question, again, was if this was corrected in-game (that the power doesn't accept Taunt sets, because no, it's not an attack), or if Mids' was just reflecting that you can't currently slot them (due to bug, whatever).

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

Power Siphon does not currently accept taunt sets. I don't know if it did in the past.

Is that why I've not had any problems with it? I installed mine in \Games\Mids and set the shortcut to run as administrator. I know Windows protects Program Files, but not random folders I create.
