Fact or Fiction with Patron/Epic powers for Praetorian toon

Do Praetorian toons have access to either patron's or epic powersets once you've escape and reach level 41+?

I have been told:
1. Yes you can, I think
2. No you can't
3. I am not sure

My searching ability sucks since could not find an answer in either the CoH forums or paragonwiki. Can anyone confirm? Thank you in advance.

All characters, whether starting hero, starting villain, or starting Praetorian, gain access to the epic power pools at level 41. In order to gain access to the Patron pools, however, one must complete the first story arc of one of the four Patrons (it doesn't matter which); this means you have to be a villain. For starting heroes, or Praetorians who go to Paragon City, this means fully crossing over to the Rogue Isles and completing the arc.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that once you hit 41, APP's would automatically unlock while you would have to do the arc to get the patron pools just like any other char.

I brought my villain toon over to hero side at level 25 before completing a patron's arc. Now he's level 47 and don't have access to epic pool powers either. There is no arc for epic pool powers and yet he can't access it. Is this a bug?

Or a Rogue.

You have to be a villain or a rogue in order to start the mission arcs to enable Patron Pool Powers. These arcs can be run at lvl 40+. If a character is of heroic alignment at level 40 or above, you must switch it (back) to a villain alignment and completer the patron arc. you can then switch to hero again and still have access to the PPPs on that character.

I have a rogue controller and can not run patron's arc. The contact said I have to be a villain.

That depends. If your character is one of the five basic Villain ATs (Brute, Corruptor, Dominator, Mastermind, Stalker), then you should get access to APPs (Hero Epic Pools) automatically when you select your level 41 or higher powers.

If your character is a Widow or Soldier (ie, one of the Villain Epic Archetypes), then you do not get access to APPs, only PPPs. And just like any other character, you have to run the arc to get access to PPPs.

I ran into the same thing. Had to convert to full Villain before Arbiter Rein would even give me the time o' day.

My Rogue characters have had no problem running the Patron Arcs. Are you a Rogue (a Villain with access to Paragon City), or a Vigilante (a Hero with access to the Rogue Isles)?

If your character was originally a Hero, and has only shifted alignment once, then you are a Vigilante, and must shift at least one more time (to Villain) before the Patron Arcs become available.

Also, you cannot get the arcs by talking directly to the Patrons. First, you must speak to Arbiter Rein, who is standing on the steps outside Lord Recluse's tower. He'll give you a mission to go read about the Patrons, then he'll let you choose one as a contact. Only after doing this will they speak to you, and even then, only the one you picked.

Since I haven't tried to respec a character that has Vig or Resist status I can only guess that you may have to fully cross over to have access the epic pool, other than that it's prolly a bug.

I'm sure someone who knows for sure will be along.

I tried a respec for the bane and epic pool powers are not available for selection at level 41+ so I am at a lost.

Did you run the Patron arc on your Bane? As I said above, Soldiers (including Banes) only get access to Patron Pools. There are no Ancillary Pools for them.

What if you're a villain and want to go Rogue before level 40?

Sadly enough Kheldians apparently don't even get access to the PPPs.

No. I made him a full hero at level 30 I believe.

From what I can guess if you're a Rogue and want PPP you would have to spend 2 days of tipping and run the arc to get access to PPP's powers.

Unfortunately in my case, I would have to run 4days of tipping to become a full villain, run patron's arc, get powers, and then run 4 days of tippings to become a hero again. That's 8 days total. (UGH) I'll just live with neither epic or patron's powers. (sigh)

Nope.

Rogues don't need to do any tips to run patron arcs, they can just go talk to the contact directly without any bureocracy or paperwork

Keeping in mind that "the contact" is Arbiter Rein, NOT the individual patron.
