Smallville 11/19
At least kryptonite doesn't just turn him useless anymore. Still lame they pull it out every second episode, but it's not as bad as it was.
And what was up with Aquaman? "I'd like to help guys, but I can't, because I'M SO ANGRY!!"
He's Aquaman. He's always been a bit of a jerk. Especially when he realizes that he's useless on dry land. Plus, add in the whole bit with Mera, whom I think tends to be a bit...domineering...let's say.
But he's SO ANGRY.
"Hey AC, you want a coke?"
Aquaman rips the head off a bunny.
"That's a 'no' then?"
The majority of his friends are fish. And not the good kind of fish like silver dollars or sunfish, but the no-goodniks that live on the wrong side of the little plastic castle or the scuba guy.
He's angry because all they talk about is the Atlantic Shore and not his favorite things like the Fish Fry Channel.
Im seriously getting tired of kryptonite showing up in every script, either by accident or planned.
Last week it was like luck of the draw that they infused their weapons with it, this week the military knew the blurrs weakness even though they apparently have no clue who he was, that he was an alien and that in most cases in the show exposure to that particular rock was responsible for GIVING people powers rather then being a weakness.
And apparently now Darksied is going to be some mystic smoke that feeds off the fear and weakness and such in others. Wasnt that an episode of the original star trek?
But seriously i think the writers cant come up with any other excuse for crappy inexpensive effects so they just basicly use the green rock to limit the need for them. I guess it cost alot of the budget to tint every scene in either blue, or orange etc.
I think that was the one sticking point I had with the episode. Their take on Slade Wilson. Seriously we are to belive that Ty will be the guy that gives the Titans and the Justice League a run for its money? I have a severely hard time believing that. Unless they reveal a new and more fitting actor, I really can't dig that they are doing what other genre shows have done and use BSG actors to solidfy thier geek cred.
The Slade thing was just part of the bigger problem the show has which is really bad writing. I thought some of the dialogue in this episode was just awful. Stuff happens off screen that we ought to see, like A.C. being captured. Then there are the inconsistencies like Slade indicating that they had no problem catching A.C. because his weakness is so obvious but then they apparently can't stop Mera despite her having the same obvious weakness. And let's not forget Mera's attitude towards Lois doing a 180 for virtually no reason at all. Lois shows up and Mera is a complete ***** to her but Lois comes in handy once and suddenly Mera acts like they're BFFs. Or the fact that Mera is shown to be wearing a swimsuit beneath her wetsuit right up until Lois shows up at which point Mera has ditched the swimsuit just so she can strip naked in front of Lois while changing.

My theory on how Slade gets powers.
When the base self-destructed, shrapnel (from the kryptonite bars shattering) penetrated Slades eye & embedded itself in his brain giving him meteor rock powers that will be similar to the abilities Comicbook Deathstroke has.
When Slade & Clark fight, the kryptonite will weaken Clark to the point where it will be a fair fight.
Oh just to further IMO show how weak and truely uninspired a crew of writers the show has, but hasnt this whole angle be done to death before? As in years ago with the "Mutant Registration Act" in x-men that had Magneto fighting against it with terrorism and charles fighting against it with heroes. Then recycled to the xmen movie, and then redone again pretty much in civil war cross overs......
Its just really guys? Super Powers needing to register with the government......and no one in that room went" you know marvel has been doing this story line for decades."

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
Well, to be fair...
Everyone had done it. Seriously
Marvel, DC, the Incredibles, various other superhero films, even City of Heroes is mentioned in that wiki article. Like other common storylines it's not about innovation when dealing with a registration act in comics ... it's about presentation. Which undoubtedly Smallville will likely fail at.
The storyline, though, is a well known archetype - broadened from comics it also of course branches into science fiction, even some fantasy novels have a secret order you have to join if you're a wizard or be persecuted, etc. Complaining it's unoriginal at this point is almost like saying the Hero's Journey is unoriginal. It is, but it can make a good story regardless.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
So, uhm, Slade new about Kryptonite how? And when are they going to stop cockblocking every show with the K-Rock? How about letting Clark just outright kick *** against people every once in a while? It's time for this show to treat Kryptonite as a rare item, and not something that makes up everyone's effen house.
It was just as bad as last week's episode when they tempered their weapons with fire from kryptonite... cuz, you know, people are always looking to different colored gems to throw into their fires.
