Cheers for the comments guys, very much appreciated. I've had a long struggle with altitus, but H3 has really come through for me as a fun toon. Spines/Scrapper ftw

Chris, as you know I always value your critic. What's your advice on the background? I wanted a stormy, dramatic feel to the piece to add to the inhuman, emotionless nature of H3. I thought it worked ok, but always happy to hear opinions. Also, sorry if I sound curt, I,m typing from phone.

Henri! Your Robot H3 NRI is totally EPIC in my book!! I also feel that the stormy background does what you wanted it to do. It adds drama and the lack of emotion to the character. Very well done!

Now get busy and do MORE!! We want to see MORE!!

Hehe, thanks very much Vex, my first ever 'outstanding'! There will certainly be more painting to come... soon... ish...

For now heres a sketch an artish over on DA did for me as a warm up exercise. I like this a lot, as it feels very similar in style to the comics i first remember reading as a kid, with that dot colouring effect. Well, dot shading i guess as it's not in colour, you get my meaning tho Thanks to Goblin Queen for pointing him out

I genuinely agree with all the praise being heaped on you for this piece, Henri. In my strictly amateur opinion, it's Awesome!

As for the criticism, the sky is very nice and stormy, but the bright spot is a tad too white and the light on it is too 'hard'. I presume that the same spotlight that is illuminating H3 NRi (or one like it) is supposed to be providing that? Also, none/little of that actinic-bright light is hitting the Building?

The highlight/shine on his legs really should run right about where the inner edge of the leg-pattern is... As it is, he appears to be standing directly over, or slightly in front of, another spot-light, shining directly on his nether bifurcation...

Still, really, Superb Arts!

Be Well!

Yep, i can see what both you and Chris are saying about the lighting of his inner legs, i think i can probably adjust that area without too much trouble so i'll work on that later.

The bright area in the sky is the moon obscured by the thick cloud. My thought was that the moonlight would be too difused to cast any really strong light, so the only light source would be cast up from the street below.

I'm really appreciating all the comments you guys are making. The simple 'That is great, Henri!' comments really boost my confidence and make me want to do more, and the crit comments make me look at where i've gone wrong and try an improve on my skills. You all rock \m/.

Alas I don't have time just yet to do a full write up. Sent you a PM though.

P.S. That dot pattern shading you mention was called Zip-a-tone (also Screentone).

P.P.S. Am I the only one wondering when we get the next issue of the above comic?
Not that I don't love what you are doing lately with your paints but you left us on a 2,000 year cliffhanger. Moar Nao!

Well finally i've found some time to dedicate to art again Thought i'd start with some 30 minute painting, as a big problem i've always had is how slow i am at producing anything, hoping this might help me in that area...

I'm going to try and do 1 a day if possible, but i'll only post my first one here as many may not be CoH related. Please do pop in on my DA page tho to see how i'm getting on. Cheers H

You're off to a great start, I think!
And I can tell you.. you're able to produce a lot more in half an hour than I can! *giggles*

I have you in my watchlist, so I'll keep an eye out for sure .

Just wondering....Do you use references?

*waits for the next 30min-painting *

Hi guys, gone all art-tastic recently so thought i'd post what i've been doing

First is an old character of mine, my first main actually, Cyborgirl... yep, always had that cyber fasination. She was a sonic/elec blaster before i knew anything about any AT's, and was a great character, shame i deleted her. I was originally planning to add all her tech to the piece (cyber chin, eye reticle, circuitry on face) from in-game, but felt the minimal tech told more of a story...

seems coh forum can't cope with more than one piece at a time, so welcome to multipostville :/

Next is not a CoH character, but i call it 'Artificial Girl'. This and Cyborgirl were attempts of 30 minute paintings, which i then spent hours on to finish, lol. The 30 min versions can be seen on my DA link.

Now a gift piece for Caemgen, Blue Boltage. I saw this posted in his thread, as an uncoloured line art by artist EuROPA777, and just wanted to put colours on it. I asked Caem, he said yes, this is how it turned out

Then i went camping in the mountains, no computer, no digital 30 minute sketches, managed this pencil effort though... I've really got rusty with pencil

Back to the digital with Nuclear Zero, finishing up another 30 minute sketch, this is now about 2.5 hrs. I wanted to make more of his eyes and maybe add his power effects, he's a man of NUCLEAR!! In game it's too much nuclear, here i feel it's not enough, might revisit This btw is my most recent and only 3rd lvl50, so he needed some art i thought

Finally, a bit of a leap for me, a no reference piece. Ok, i had some reference, i was watching Dexter and got the idea from the way a woman was standing for a sec, I thought, that's a really cool pose, so 'Mercenary Trooper' was born... I did reference the rifle actually, and youtubed for the hands, can't do hands, but i'm happy with the face which is completely from scratch, she's not pretty, but she's a soldier!! I'm not sure this is finished actually, infact, i definately will be revisiting this.

All can be seen in full size at my DA page, hope you like cheers H.

My goodness! Talent overload! There's some fantastic stuff here. (and I need to check out this forum more frequently)

Loving Cyborgirl. Perhaps not the most sophisticated piece, but somehow I like it the most. Perhaps it's the since-deleted backstory that makes it so sorrowful.

Blue Boltage is a classic. With that classic flat-crotched Golden Age emasculinity. Sorry for saying that, the pose is nonetheless perfect. And a little Hasbro

Nuclear Zero looks like he's made of some sort of very tough plastic. Which is a fascinating texture for sure. Great colours and shading. He better duck though, them atomic auras are about to conk him in the head...

Mercenary Trooper is awesome. I am always impressed by talented renditions of loose cloth. So much learning in one piece (building on the earlier ones), it's almost time to seek a commission.

Keep up the fantastic work!
