Random VEAT ambushes

Greetings,

Why wouldn't anyone like a random attack of Arachnos Soldiers before you go in a mission?

For example, let's say you selected a mission (paper mission, contact mission, or and or tip missions), the selecting of the mission could be coded to trigger a random attack. You would be greeted by them at mission doors (either outside or inside the mission).

I know some people hate the Void Seekers awaiting Kheldians. I find it interesting that they have a specific hunter yet we don't. This is not cool to me. So I am definitely going to suggest it to the devs. I would hope others would too.

THIS TOON IS NOW A HERO!

It's a feature that most people didn't like from the Khelds.

More than likely will not happen.

No thanks. AT specific enemies and ambushes are tedious, not fun.

Yeah, while having additional MOBs in a mission is one thing, constantly being ambushed between missions I think would get tedious.

Honestly, Kheldians and SoA are not that similar. Kheldians have a direct damage dealing role, their team support comes from adapting to their team and becoming more of a tanker or damage dealer depending. SoA have a strong support role, they lend Defense and offensive bonuses to the whole team, and debuff foes like Defenders and Corruptors do. So a Kheldian gets stronger because of his team, an SoA makes his team stronger. (And is stronger when on a team of other SoA's)

The idea of "Kheldian Kryptonite" came out because the devs feared Kheldians were too powerful without it. That turned out to be an overexaggerated concern. Ranged and Defense in combination is not overpowered, as long as they are in balance. By the time they got through achieving that balance, Voids were no longer needed, and had been too powerful in the first place.

SoA were built from the ground up based on the lessons learned from Kheldians. (So were Dominators, which personified the other combination the devs feared, Ranged and Control) They've never needed "Kryptonite", and don't need a special enemy type to deliver it.

Unfortunately, that means SoA don't have a dedicated enemy, but Longbow are Arachnos' dedicated enemy, and you get plenty of opportunities to take on Longbow. You even get to take on Arachnos, and I'm sure that at least some of the SoA arcs have ambushes. (Really, the major Arachnos ambush I'm thinking of right now is the Seer Marino one, and everyone redside gets to take that mission)

The idea of a personal nemesis is a great one. Maybe they will add it in at some point and not just for SOAs although their arc could use serious some fleshing out compared to the Kheldian one in my opinion.

I've always thought this would be a cool idea. In fact, I'd prefer if the ambushes occurred during missions. C'mon, this game is already pretty easy as it is and VEATs are so strong as it is. I don't think an ambush every now and then is going be a big deal.

Currently on Virtue:
Jinrazuo - Crab Spider

RWZ All-Pylon Solo Run

I actually think this idea is interesting. It could even be fun... so long as they aren't specifically tailored to destroy your attack type... like the Voids... They can be difficult, sure.... just not frustratingly so.

On a side note: I've always thought the idea of a personal nemesis would be really fun. Not someone that always has the story focus... but just a specific enemy character that shows up randomly. Almost as if they're hunting you down. Oh, that could be an interesting feature for Rogues and Vigilantes. And if you don't like it, you can simply switch back to Hero or Villain.

Oh my, was Dev wrong....

I think adding extra mob/counter because of certain teammate is a terrible way to balance an AT. If they thought Kheldian was too powerful, nerf their powers instead. I am too new to Kheldian but I am very glad SoA doesn't have "void" or random ambushes.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Yeah I agree. I used to play Champions and they have "personal nemesis and random ambushes". They can add nemesis but just don't add to a specific AT. If you are a Brute, your nemesis can be a Tanker-type of mob or whatever. If you are a Dominator, your nemesis type can be a Controller., etc.

I like pre mish ambushes. it kinda adds to the story lines IMO.

Because it's more annoying than immersive?

Agreed. Almost all the story arcs in this game are tailored to have some kind of final nemesis behind everything. (It's all a Nemesis plot.)

Sadly I still haven't understood in any way how come there are Void Seekers just hanging around in random mobs of ... anything. Everything. If it does make sense then I haven't stumbled across the storyline that makes this any less ridiculous.

Voids are essentially mercs hired out by the Council of Nictus. as per http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Void_Hunters.

Reason being is unlike Kelds we are..I hate to say it..common goons. We are (Or were) common ground troops for a larger criminal boss. It's like expecting special treatment as a Skull :P In the end Recluse probably dosent care that much about us.
