Whew, I feel better. That's been bugging me for a while.
What about when you asked someone what time it is? never said, "Thank you for the time?" *Being a smart-*** here* XD

That's awesome, but I still prefer Nemesis Crunch.

Everytime NCSoft does something like this, or has one of these cool products that doesn't get made and we learn about through the forums and such, I have to think that it's a missed opportunity.

I would totally buy Utopios and a host of other CoH products. In fact if I were the CoH marketing team, I'd try to get those Pepsi products that were made up in that other thread, made for real, I'd buy those.

There is so much money to be made off those of us who would buy that stuff, plus it'd make the brand name more well known. People seeing City Of Heroes cereal might ask around and be like, whoa that's from a game? Where do I sign up?

Totally agree. I am STILL hunting for:

Archetype buttons
Laser projection pens (hero and vill)
Arachnos cape

And now these Utopios. Oh and the new Rikti NPC costume.

I have a lot of rare CoH/CoV/GR merchandise, but not nearly everything.

The bag of cereal that was pictured in the linked article looks suspiciously familiar...

I approve of this cereal. Now, if I could only get my share of the proceeds, ya know, cuz It's my cereal and all

You know, looking at the packaged cereal, I just assumed that's what Saul did with the leftover Ascendant-Os. Either the Xenonite kills the reviewers (they were going to give bad reviews anyway), or they will get cosmic superpowers (and be indebted to the devs for the favor - good review!). Win-win situation IMO.

I can confirm that those are, in fact, not Ascendant-Os; for reasons that have never been satisfactorily explained to me, Ascendant-Os are X-shaped.

I can't log on until I've had my Utopios and the rest of my complete breakfast. They make me SUPER (or SUPER EVIL).

That's actually seriously cool

but doesn't go all the way... they should put them on supermarket shelves with a a heroclix toy and a trial CD inside

The effect would be so prestigious we'd be able to not only mention, but laugh at, other video games on this forum

I agree. Personally, I'd rather microtransactions be centered around products such as these instead of charging a premium for in-game emotes, costumes and auras. Something else I'd love to see would be an "Unleashed" toy line of collectible 7" figures (example: Unleashed).

Ah well, ever since they canceled the printed comics I gave up hope of this franchise branching out past the digital realm. Shame, really. You'd think a product tailor-made for comic book/gaming geeks and nerds would just naturally attack every angle of what we normally "waste" our money on. *Shrugs*

I would so buy a box of Utopios. They would sit next to my box of "Ceezy Poofs"!

Personally, I think this is a great, unexpected marketing angle. Kudos to the Marketing team for thinking outside the box (pun intended). It's clever, quick and hits the mark. Granted, it targets one user at a time - unless NCSoft is going into the cereal making biz, I doubt this'll impact the grand scale of things. However, for targeting journalists and other high volume entities, this is a great way to catch the eye of that person.

And, just because I have a need to lay claim on this idea, my buddy in IRON, "Weazel", came up with this idea waaaaay the heck back during Planetside's hey-days in 2003. I give you proof:

...and yes, Thor is my pet Pekingese.

It's an IRON thing.
