Or the new one, for that matter. The space station is still part of Tina Macintyre's arc, except now it looks like a Praetorian lab.

Why didn't they put the Steampunk stuff in? Its so lovely!

Seeing them working on designing the space station makes me think that the next AT they add will be some kind of spy AT, as that was the one mentioned in that survey, and it seems that they've planned or added just about everything in it now.

EDIT: Here's the lsit of things mentioned back in August 2008 for a planned expansion:

Quote:
1.) New high level Space Station Zones (PVE, PVP, & Co-op)

2.) Characters that do not wish to change sides are rewarded by becoming exemplary heroes or villains, and earning rewards not available any other way

3.) Heroes and villains who go to the other side can also act as Double-Agents

4.) Character Creator 2.0 includes Powers Customization, allowing players to customize not only the character, but also the actual look of its powers

5.) Players undertake missions that define their character's morality and steer them in a more heroic or villainous direction

6.) By switching sides (going from good to bad or bad to good), players can access content "on the other side" (heroes can experience villain zones and content, and villains can experience hero zones and content)

7.) Completely new low-level player experience/zones for new characters in which new characters do not begin a hero or villain, rather become one or the other through early gameplay

8.) New Spy Archetype, Power Sets & Costumes

9.) Universal Enhancement Slots - at level 50, these enhance powers to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots

Also, I assume that Pandora is kind of a prototype Desdemona? If so, it's a shame because Pandora at least looks a lot more interesting than Desdemona.

She was the first version of Desdemona - they actually showed the stages of her development at Hero Con, along with Maelstrom's development, which is on that blog.

So, no space station, no steam punks, and not even hover cars?

If we didn't already have jet packs, I'd be very disappointed in this future.

Those were just cut from GR - kinda like the Alpha slot was cut - so just because they dropped stuff they didn't have time to finish before GR had to be released, that doesn't have to mean that we'll never see it

I love the concept of 'Space' Sky Raiders.

Taking it to the next level, indeed.

Here's hoping that the I20 NDA is all about null/low-g movement mechanics that will be necessary for awesome space-station-ness.

I wonder if the Steampunk guys were going to be Praetorian Nemesis? I see a few similar bits.

You have read the Rikti lore, right?

I was thinking they might have been rogue Menders who'd broken away from Silos - maybe even on the side of the Mysterious Letter Writer.

Dude, Space Raiders. Come on, it's right there. Pluck it from the tree!

Space Station would be awesome (was it called Gagarin and the Moonbase called Armstrong?) as long as we get to do things like go outside and fight in zero gravity (or even microgravity) and get ultra-cool costumes such as spacesuits from various eras: modern suits, futuristic battlesuits, 1940s and '50s era suits with glass bubble helmets and '60s era things with velour fabric and bold patterns... plus the silvery fabric space outifits. Those would be sweet.

And you automatically assume there will never be a "Steampunk" Booster Pack? Obviously I have no idea if it'll ever happen, but I think since there was -any- artwork done along these lines that the chances for something like that has to be greater than 0%.

If there is a Steampunk Booster pack I'll be buying it the moment it hits the store... But please note I said "May Never" rather than "Will never"

It's kinda sad to me that there's a "Greater than 0%" chance, rather than a "Greater than 80%" chance. >.>

Space Resistance.. so much lovely concept work. And the fact that at some point the Space Station was even an option, well it's about time.

Oh yea, the Steampunk stuff... dang cool!

The Steam Punk stuff is great. I'm particularly impressed with the variety of colors used on them, far beyond the brown, gunmetal, and gold that seem characteristic of that aesthetic. And, unlike most times you see the term "steampunk" tossed around, these characters are clearly punks as well as using steam- a nice touch. Hopefully, something based on these designs will make it into a costume release or a villain group or something.

I found the extensive vehicle and structure designs for Praetoria especially interesting. I'd like to see some of those futuristic, hovering construction vehicles wandering around Neutropolis, even if they aren't targetable enemies or anything.

I'm impressed by how well the art realized the look of those pictures of the Resistance's tunnels.

Finally, it's interesting to read the artist's perspectives on the characters and structures designed, since they're presumably based on what the artists are told during the development process, some of which differs a bit from the way we see these things in the game, or at least the way we perceive them in the player culture. For instance, I wouldn't have thought of the Resistance as "a Mad Max kind of group," though I see the connection now that it's pointed out to me.
