Nvidia 260.89 WHQL drivers are out.

I downloaded them and am VERY happy. The biggest thing I noticed was the speed increase in the internet and CoH...the clarity and color have always been nice. (I have a putersaurus so I imagine newer computers might even get a better boost.)

Well it's nice that the 260 worked for you.
For me, I had to roll back to the 257 drivers again!

Following is CoH Helper and HiJack outputs.

Only one word to say: SLI (at least on test).

I installed 260.89 and had crashes almost instantly. after some research.. I turned off SLI mode on one PC and its now behaving and I rolled back the other PC and both are working fine.

Here's the key issue I think.

260.89 WHQL:
* Adds or enhances SLI profiles for the following PC games:
o City of Heroes: Going Rogue
o Alien Swarm
o Dead Rising 2
o Front Mission Evolved
o Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
o LEGO: Harry Potter

So basically, the drivers are ready for SLI but COH wont be ready till I19?

What cards were you using? I was able to get flawless SLI with a pair of GTS 250 1GB models, I've also seen SLI have some issues with 2 other friends' rigs, though in one case, I'm almost certain that's a bad SLI bridge, or a bad card, as it duplicates in other SLI games and benchmarks. Perhaps certain cards may not currently work correctly, but it could also be other issues with the rigs, as some have had SLI working since those drivers were beta, before the announcement of SLI coming was made. I can confirm it works currently for me on both test and live.

I have a Geforce 6200 with 128 MB. With the new driver update the game is very smooth und doesn't crashing anymore. The graphics are a little much sharper then before - so the update works very good for me.

I think it is time to ditch my 5970 and go back to nVidia. Waiting on PS and AMD to get any crossfire working has proven to be a waste of time since it seems like it isn't a priority for either company.

Once Sandy Bridge is official I suppose dual GTX 580s will be the order of the day. Too bad...eyefinity showed so much promise too.

it's funny, I used to be a major ATI devotee back in the day (the irony being, I ran ATI and AMD, which all of my friends made fun of me for because common wisdom at the time (98-2002ish) was that AMD did better with Nvidia, and Intel did better with ATI (it was thought that paring the two more "unstable" companies together (AMD and ATI) was generally a bad idea).

The old me would've been happy when ATI and AMD merged, but by that time, largely due to CoH, and the absolute horrible mess of problems CoH had with ATI cards, I'd switched over to Nvidia and was still with AMD for processors (still am). I guess I switched back in..maybe 04-05 to a 7800GS at the time, then later got an 8800GTX for my new rig at that time, then later SLI'd them, then when I built this more recent one I'm using a 470 (the "old" machine runs dual GTS 250 1GBs).

I can't honestly imagine using ATI with ANYTHING related to CoH, it has always had problems (some tell me the water still isn't right, and it was messed up on my old x800xt AGP card). ATI has never been able to write drivers for crap, I can only hope AMD has helped them in that category.

The irony being, Nvidia can't seem to produce any new chipsets, and only a quarter or so of their current chipsets are halfway decent, and that may end up pushing AMD+Nvida SLI out as a thing of the past, and I may have to *shudder* switch to InHell just to keep SLI an option...I certainly hope not though, as I dispise Intel, as much, if not moreso because of their business practices as I do for the overpriced nature of their processors...

It's a weird time to be a PC user.

Installed 260.99 , did some ToTing and an ITF. Runs great, perhaps they've even squeezed even more performance out of my card to boot.

These are still causing lockup when logging out. Have to kill process in task manager to exit. Guess I'm rolling back to 259 again.

still no issues on either computer running nVidia graphics cards

260.99 drivers working perfectly on the GTX260(core 216) and the 8800GT(ssc)

this series of drivers I think i've noticed improvements in this game on the wifey's 8800 the most, much better game play.

I held off a bit on installing the drivers myself. Finally installed them last night....and wow. I am pleased.

(Well, there was the tiny fact that my aspect ratio was changed, and NVIDIA's control panel keeps telling me that my native resolution is 1920x1080, which causes it to get into an argument with my monitor, who says the native resolution is 1680x1050.....but other than that, no problems at all)

I thought it was just the drivers causing me to constantly lock up on exit and having to use Task Manager to kill the process, but since they seem to be working for most others, maybe it is something with my system. Any insight would be appreciated.

i just wanted to get this out there for others who may be having problems such as lock ups on log in, at server selection, etc.

window blinds / alien guise (loader programs for themes) software is interfering with 'something'. i just recently went through quite a headache trying to discover what was happening after updating to 260.xx (260.99 now available fyi) from 257.xx and after many hours of wtf and searching this appeared to be the problem.

of course, now i'm left with the unfortunately happy blue borders on everything......

Ever since the 197.25 drivers I was never able to get CoH to play along nicely with alt-tabbing or Aero, but the new 260.99 drivers have fixed all my problems.
