I wish I didn't like Demon Summoning as much as I do...
Demon/Storm is UNBELIEVABLY fun mayhem! (and she's only level 20)...

For the same reason you don't get bleeped for saying "Satan". The dev's unholy agenda is obvious.
Why include a powerset with demons in it in a game where you get bleeped for saying God in chat?

Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
There is *DEFINITELY* Something In The Water because making your Demons drink Enriche shuts them up quite successfully.
It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...
I like the sounds...but then again I'm weird.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi
Ignoring switching sides and Pretoria for the time being, Masterminds are a villain archetype. And doing something immoral/dangerous/evil is exactly the sort of thing a bad guy would do. Just look at the CoT and all their demons. Honestly if you have no issues with raising an army of undead, binding demons shouldn't by much of a moral issue.

I thought there was something that prevented henchmen from blocking players now. I've never had a problem running right through any henchmen, either my own or some one else's.
-Demons are big. Really big. So a lot of teams may not invite me because my demons will block them. I totally understand. If I was not a DSer I would probably hesitate to invite me, too. I so very wish they were, at most, just slightly larger than the standard player model. This teaming aspect is compounded by the above issue.

-They are demons. I have a slight moral confusion on this one. Considering the powers, elementals or somesuch would have been just as good. Why include a powerset with demons in it in a game where you get bleeped for saying God in chat?

but I know what you mean. I love demons too and they are a lot of fun to play. They seem to tear through bosses much faster than my robots. I guess robots are a little better in the AoE department though right?
To a certain extent, I can see the point that it is a villian archetype, but now that you can choose which side to be on, it seems strange. The fact that the ability to choose sides comes in the same issue as the ability to summon demons is further confusing. Undead doesn't bother me as much- reanimated tissue isn't evil. It's just... dead, heh.
Oh well, doesn't really matter. With the ability to customize your powers, you can adjust powersets to have any reason for them.

This is a good example of that idea. I don't see any reason I can't justify my demons as elementals. They are just... um... very angry elementals.
I'm not a big fan of the theme either. I just wrote a back story that gives an alternate explanation. In my character's case he is from a humanoid alien race that has a blood oath with a beastly alien race (the demons) wherein they are committed to serving his will

Your right It's not.. and frankly any team that turns away any MM because.. "They are loud and pushy" or "Too many of them on one team is BAD" .. is one you want to stay away from anyway. I had my Bots/MM on the ITF on Friday with several friends. We alos had a Ninja/ MM and a DS MM. What we didn't have was a Tank or a Brute and someone asked right before we started. "Don't we need a tank for this?" .. The Ninja MM just laughed.
Okay, so having now tried out Demon Summoning a little, I love it. I mean LOVE it. The Summoning set is very well balanced and I don't have to micromanage as much, a huge plus for me since I normally play busy secondaries. I like to play a supporting role on a team and the buffs from Ember Demon plus my own buffs/heals are nice. Plus the summoning animations on the demons themselves are awesome.
And yet, how I wish I did not like them. "Why?" I hear you ask. Well let me tell you: -Everyone is playing DS now. I realize that eventually that might wear off, but not for a long time. It's mildly annoying to join a team and find that there are 4 other DS's in it. -Demons are big. Really big. So a lot of teams may not invite me because my demons will block them. And I still see a lot of Demon Summoners on teams, so that's probably not as big of an issue as I think. Excuse me as I go make another Demon Summoner |
1 hour and 20 minutes later we had completed the TF. I'd gone from level 41 to one bar from level 43. My Salvage, recipes and enhancements trays were full .. I had more than doubled the amount of INF I had and we had several comments about it being one of the smoothest and most fun ITFs the team had been on in quite a while.
Oh and lets see.. NO we didnt dismiss pets when we battled Romulus and the healing Nictus.. NO we did experience multiple deaths while taking out the Phallanx control device in mission 3
I see comments all the time about how Masterminds are terrible on teams and treat a team like they are soloing. How the minions are pushy and get in the way and, especially with DS, hiow noisy they pets can be. I've also been on a BUNCH of TFs and SFs with my MMs and others and I don't care what I AM playing the sight of a Mastermind on any team I join is welcome. All that damage and the buffs/debuffs/hold/immobs etc.. ? It's like getting a controllers and a blaster wrapped up in one team member. If they can't deal with a little pushing and shoving and a few growls.. GO find a team that will.
