Iron Man 2 DVD

I was given the Iron Man 2 DVD as a gift because I was a good boy while in the hospital (also got cookies) and regardless of the quality of the film one thing I absolutely love about the DVD is that there was no security tape on it. First time in 13 years. That gets the show an automatic one star bump going in because of the good vibrations.

Why yes, I do treasure the little things in life.

The GF picked up the 2-disk Digital Ed. DVD.
This is a little light on extras beyond the Digital Copy. A commentary by Favreau on the Film (Disk 1) and Deleted Scenes (Disk 2). Featurettes on the creation of the Stark Expo and the blending of practical and CGI in use of the Armors (Both on Disk 2).

Not a whole lot, but I think worth the cost.

Thank you for the time...

I noticed the no tape thing too when I bought mine. I was happy as well.

Ditto! I was actually surprised, and until I read this, thought I might have gotten one that somehow slipped past the person (who could be going to hell for it) who puts the security tape on!

Until someone buys the dvd with the no security tape on it and take it home and find that it has no dvd in the case. The security tape is there for a reason folks, so people don't steal the dvd outta the case.

As a former Blockbuster employee, I'll point out that if someone wants to steal a DVD, they will, no matter what you do to it.

A long long long time ago, I bought from a big box store Aliens on DVD. Let's just say it was basically when DVDs weren't exactly common as they are now. I don't think it was a special-edition DVD, but the case was thicker than most, completely shrink wrapped and taped up like we all know and love. Had gotten a couple of other DVDs at the same time, and nothing seemed amiss.......until I got home to watch this particular movie.

Once unwrapped, I'm presented with an empty box. No DVD, just the fliers/pamphlets inside. Not even something I would have fathomed at the time, but apparently, it was known in the retail world (which I stay away from like the plague), and talking to reps on the phone produced less than stellar results; IE, they called me a liar. Bringing in all the packaging material and paraphernalia that came in the case proved just as futile. One of the "helpful" reps presented me with an email and phone number for someone within Fox/21st Century. I was determined to get my $#@%@#$% movie so I followed through.

3 weeks later, emailing and talking to a movie-distribution rep of all things, I finally get this freaking movie mailed to me. So now I have two exact duplicates of the case, but one DVD disc.

The rep at one point suggested that maybe I didn't take the movie and was trying to get a freebie (....because people go through these hoops for something like that?), and maybe, just maybe, the disc was never actually put inside the case during packaging.

It's like DRM: doesn't stop the thieves but annoys the customers.

And from a place like Amazon that doesn't have retail space, it doesn't matter. I hope it's a trend, not a fluke.

Ok just a FYI for everyone. For the past year or so I have noticed that DVD/BD's don't have the security labels on them, I work with DVD's all day so I would notice things like that. I know for some people they are a pain to remove, tho I have no problem with it. But yeah it looks like the distributors have stopped putting these labels on the DVD's and Blu-Rays. Just an FYI...

probably because the piracy industry has eclipsed the theft industry as the primary provider of low cost/free movies. Some of my coworkers look at me like I'm some sort of ******* for actually, you know spending the money on a Blue-Ray or DVD product

HAH! Tell me about it!!

I'm constantly having debates with the kids at work who see nothing wrong with buying pirate DVD's and Games. Thye just don't see it as theft, at all, somply because they pay money for them from some dodgy bloke at the market stall.

I tried to point my last job was selling DVD's and CD's and that company went bankrupt and one of the reasons was piracy (yes, I know, not the only reason, but it still had an effect), but they just don't get it and think I'm mad for buying CD@s rather than juts torrenting them all.
