Power Suppression inside Wentworths
*grabs popcorn and settles in*
But seriously, been suggested, lots. Half the community are ok with it, the other half would quit.
Best suggestion so far would be a room where people can go with suppression.

And please use the Search. This has been brought up before and discussed (pretty strongly and emotionally) on both sides. Also, MM pets don't go away in Power Suppression like in the AE studio.

GLWT.
Not saying it won't happen, but it's a lot easier to do in an indoor auction house than an outdoor area. YMMV.
I don't want to start any drama. I don't care if its done by the game or by the players
themselves. I'm just asking people to be courteous of others inside Wentworths.

Edit -
Here is one relatively recent thread. It is not a simple issue.
Your annoyance becomes someone else's annoyance. This has been discussed over and over and you are saying nothing new here.

This has already been done in Praetoria's auction house. It's not as nice as you might think: it suppresses ALL powers, including Sprint. So getting around the place is like wading in hip deep mud wearing ankle weights and a fat suit.

That being said I don't expect them to carry it over to the other factions because Wentworths and the Black Market were designed to be in the actual open city zones. You don't have to enter a door to get to them.
That's your opinion. I happen to love the AH in Praetoria. The room isn't large so it only takes a few seconds to walk over to one of the AH contacts and the peace and quiet is wonderful. No lag caused by jerks running all their toggles. No idiots hopping around in circles. No twits self destructing. No punks aggravating people with unasked for buffs. No stupid arguments when some loser gets offended because he was politely asked to turn off his toggles or stop buffing someone.

Sorry to annoy you Penny. I didn't realise this was the "New suggestions Only" forum. Maybe my idea of people just being mindful of others doesn't measure up to your posting standards, but I will continue to express my opinion despite your annoyance, and I for one will turn off my toggles and pets when I'm inside Wentworths, and encourage others to do the same.
|
And to highlight the other thread:
For: Limits lag from people spamming powers, is quieter. Others detoggling is easier for them.
Against: Having to retoggle 11 toggles just to drop off 3 bits of salvage on the way through. Not being able to use travel powers. Not having to spend time retoggling is easier for them.
I can see both points and as I pointed out in the first reply a happy medium would be a 'back room'.

Just stick a door in the ground in both Wentworths and the BM to an underground vault with Surpression and a table in it, that way it is feasible and acts as an opt in for those who dislike powers running when they are shopping.
|
That would be fine with me. I like the idea of giving both groups of players a choice in where they want to shop.
|
The only real question is if the Devs would consider this a big enough QoL improvement to make it worth their while. Who knows... *shrugs*

I say let us shop at home!
We can buy and sell stuff in RL via our home computers. Why can't we use a computer inside our SG bases to do the same in game? Too convenient, having a crafting table, salvage storage, and auction access all in one handy dandy location?
Funny. The Architect came out with a "quiet room" for this precise reason. And even back during the Architect boom, I saw precisely one person ever use it. I'm sure more did, but the crowds in the regular rooms were always dense and the crowds in the quiet rooms didn't even qualify as multiple people.
As far as I'm concerned, the Praetorian Trading House is horrible. Some of my characters happen to be designed to always fly, either via Hover or Fly, and in there they are grounded. Several of my characters run multiple toggles, some of which root me when they activate, and I don't fancy having to retoggle them.
It's interesting to me that people always reach for the "politeness" hypocrisy, when it's always people with pets and toggles who have to comply, and never people without them who have to put up. So to avoid inconveniencing you, I have to let you inconvenience me, and if I don't, I'm the bad guy? You may be able to see how that idea fails to endear itself to me.
If it takes having a quiet room for people to be happy, then fine. Drop a below-ground cubicle at Went's and a sewer area near the Black Market and be done with it. But for Pete's sake, stop dropping my toggles when all I want to do is check to see if anything sold. Either that, or sit an Auction House employee in front of the building and count how many people ever bother to walk in again.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

This is actually why I'll go with the 'quiet room.' In the end, the problem comes from two very different circumstances. Those who have machines/connections that make the extra stuff utterly trivial, (and the complaints to them seem overreactions) and those who are in a circumstance where it can verge on crashing their game. (to whom the 'trvial' is a big gameplay hangup.) If you go with an "all or nothing" approach, you WILL peave one side. Hence why two options would be cool.
But for Pete's sake, stop dropping my toggles when all I want to do is check to see if anything sold.

If someone is concerned that they may miss the AH message in their chat box they can simply open a new tab with just the AH channel in it. Then they'll never miss a message.

I personally love the AH in Imperial City.
The issue most of us have is not with people that run in to WW/BM between mission to empty their pockets. It's the people that stand their for half and hour with their AoEs/pets/shields/toggles/etc running. And let's not forget the people that have to spam every AoE the have when they log off.
I would love it if they would give us a separate room to enter, leaving the open air markets unaffected, as long as the room is far enough underground that I cannot still hear their powers.
I used to get annoyed at the suggestion that 'we' should have our own room. I used to think to myself "@#%$## that! Make the people that don't want to turn off their powers go to their own special place." Which was just a knee-jerk reaction. If I want peace and quiet it's because I'm going to be spending some time at the market. It really makes no sense to make a player between mission/returning from the hospital/etc to have to zone into and out of the AH when they're going to be in an out.
Give WW a door we can click on so I can spend an extended stay in piece and quiet. Give the BM trucks a clickable door on the cab to give us a similar room.

I work in a bank. You can't come in this building while talking on a cell phone, or with
any kind of hat or even sunglasses on. It is quiet, and people do their business in
peace. I guess I am leaking real world expectations into the game, and for that I
apologize. I did not want any drama, I just wanted to express a suggestion for folks to
consider turning off some of their toggles and pets while doing business in Wentworths.
I hoped by starting a new thread that someone who could do something about it would
take note and start a discussion toward making all sides comfortable with any changes.

on vill's i would say that PO and St. Martial are the least used.

I would be happy for players to have a quiet room off to the side for the market, or even a market interface/NPC for bases and shop 'til they drop. But like Sam, and run in to check/sell something. Some toons can have a number of toggles running, esp. those that root. It makes one player's problem now into another player's problem. It is not a simple problem to solve.
I know its a small thing. It just doesn't make sense that people need to have their imps
and demons and hasten and buildup and group fly and every other nonsense going inside
Wentworths. Can we please have power suppression?
