Bring 2 or 3 Electric Doms and you have an area on complete lockdown.

They wake up when they get hit? Sure, but they go right back to sleep, or you just knock them down, and they go back to sleep.
That's 'drop the AoE sleep' as in drop it in place, not don't pick it up.
Poor choice of wording, sorry.
That sleep is the *******... whatever that is. (wow, they censor s h i z n i t?)

Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day, SET a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
Incarnates: K'lir(Fire/Dark Corr):Hot-House Flower(Plant/Fire Dom):Kinrad X(Kin/Rad Def):Itsy-Bitsy Spider(Crab):Two Ton Tony(Mace/WP Broot):Teeny Weeny Widow(Fortunata/Widow) : Zeroth Law (Ice/Fire Tank)

I've been playing with my Mind/Psi (I got over my issues with the animations) andthis is the first time I'm enjoying playing a non-Mastermind "squishy" archetype as much as I do my usual Tanker/Mastermind characters.

And while I've got an Electric Controller, I may make an Elec/ Dom eventually as well.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

I think the best two choices for melee fun is Elec/Earth and Fire/Earth.

Elec and Fire Control both have great pbAOEs that beg to be played up close, which makes them perfect for the best melee secondary, Earth.

The second best melee set IMO is Psi because of Drain Psyche and once you finally reach lvl 38 you get PSW.

So pick one of these:

Elec/Earth
Fire/Earth
Fire/Psi

I have a level 50 Ice/Ice/Ice Dominator who I play in melee range for most, if not all of the time. (Usually depends on the team, because planting TAoEs can take a lot of endurance)

I don't know how much I have spent on this build so far, but he is my main character so it would be worth more the 2 billion inf. I can solo x8/+2 missions and just yesterday I went up against a mob of freakshow set to x8/+4, I managed to kill the 2 bosses and all but 3 minions before I needed blue inspirations, but I didn't have any on me at the time. With i19 coming out, I should be able to solve most of my endurance problems and finally get Bitter Ice Blast which will help with taking out bosses.

I know this is about a melee Dom and not all of my attacks are melee but I have to be in the middle of a mob to get full use of Glacier and my slow auras.

So yeah, they are capable.

My elec/kin controller friend and my elec/stone dom make a good combo.

You didn't take Bitter Ice Blast? @_@

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

At the time it didn't seem to fit my build/play style, but I am set on getting it in i19. I am modifying it a bit to have more efficient endurance usage.

Hey, well I didn't even get a travel power, and I don't even have Ninja Run.. and it's not like my guy isn't any good right now, so he is only going to get stronger, which I am happy about.

Ok...I can't help but meddle...I have to bite...why did you skip it?

Well it was a really tight build and for some reason I wanted GIS instead of BIB. It was probably because I thought it looked better :3. I saved over my mids build after I heard about the inherent stamina deal, otherwise I would post it.

Ah! I have friends like that who pick powers sometimes based on looks. I can understand where you are coming from somewhat. I'm glad you decided to squeeze it in once the stamina thing goes down. You will be glad you did!

Yeah, he is a character I kept coming back to and I don't really think I paid much attention to those powers and just decided on GIS because I had it on an Ice Melee tanker. A while ago I looked at the damage on BIB and was like, woah, didn't notice that before o.O. Can't wait to slot it with Apoc :P

QR : I've been flailing around trying to find a decent combo for Elec, I've tried a Elec/Ice and a Elec/Thorns and neither really was clicking for me. I know Earth Assault would work well but I've done Stone Melee on a Brute previously and don't really like the look of the hammers.

Last night I tried Elec/Energy and things have finally gone click. Great fun soloing with the soft and hard controls in Energy and it feels suitably smashing. The single target nature might be an issue on teams maybe but I've generally found the Domi cones more trouble than they are worth when you want to be a melee capable Dom anyway, from playing my Ice/Psi. I'll just focus on controlling and then smashing tough targets to bits and let others worry about mowing minions down.

I'm not a fan of KB since I've had some traumatic experiences with other players for having a toon that KB's...even though I shouldn't let that affect me...it has a bit regardless.

After the buff to Energy Assault I've been dying to try out the set. I was planning on making a grav/nrgy or mind/nrgy but I think I will go Plant/nrgy. I know nrgy's soft controls keeps you alive but plant should be a good back up b/c it's so awesome. Plus plant is slowly starting to be my favorite control set besides elec.

My first character 5 years ago was a Illusion/Stormie so I'm used to knockback and general chaos at this stage

I noticed last night I could queue Power Push and Bone Smasher so as they went flying they also get clobbered which is great fun (and means they're probably dead anyway by the time they land).

Heh, my first toon was a Ill/Stormie as well! It sure taught me a lot about end control!

I understand whatcha sayin'...it's not that I CAN'T handle KB...I just can't handle getting kicked from teams b/c of KB(I freak out). Like several friends have told me though, as long as you play smart on teams you have nothing to worry about. If they kick you just b/c you dish out kb you shouldn't team with them anyway.

I agree, and as someone who's already admitted a love of melee combat, it's somewhat contradictory in some people's eyes when I say that I also love knockback too.

It makes the battles feel more dynamic. Superman and Doomsday didn't stand in one spot on the street and pound each other (well, okay, they did, but not throughout the whole fight), they knocked each other across the entire United States before ending up in Metropolis.

You're right with the Super strength guys it's always been about the knock back!

Also...call me crazy...and I guess I should of expected this but...I had no idea Domination ups the chances of Stun in the Energy Assault Set lol. *blush*

It does and it's wonderful, even just as an easy indicator that a Chance for a Stun happened (like with Bone Smasher). If I see Domination pop up I know they are out of the fight for 10 seconds or so and I can focus on taking someone else down.
