Hey Triumph players! something new for you to do!
That's quite a bit removed from "A bunch of people getting ganked while hunting badges."

And I'd agree that if some yellow glowy balls bouncing around was what PvP looked like, then there was a definite problem with it.

"Don't attack me, I am only here for (x) badge" should just never be said when you are in a PvP zone. You are there, the hazards involved in getting said badges are you may be attacked by someone. If you can't deal with that then don't go there, it is just that easy and if you do and get attacked don't cry about it. With the way PvP is now all you have to do is be on a team and just damage spam the crap out of someone and they will eventually die because they definately can't evade and if they have a support toon, that toons heals are very limited in usefulness due to heal decay so just get your team that is badge hunting to all attack the same target. Pretty easy to do with a simple call out in team chat.

Dear Scrapper in Warburg last night,
Sorry about killing you on the launch pad. I thought I would be able to steal your fully-assembled launch code, but apparently they don't work that way once you select which temp power you want to receive, or the fight took longer than five minutes (which is certainly a possibility). Trying to outrun my Blaster when you knew your T9 was about to crash was commendable, but timed too late. I do feel bad that neither one of us got to launch the rocket, thereby wasting both of our time, so I sincerely apologize.
Regards,
~ Obsidius
A team killing you is not "ganking" and it not like you don't know or didn't know that you could be attacked while you are in that zone getting said badge.

It's not at all why PvP was changed.
So you want PvP to be slow or not moving, 2 toons standing toe-to-toe trading attacks until one of them dies???
|
Well how does that work for a blaster/corruptor/dominator and even some defenders, whose strengths are in attacking at range. Good for melee bad for everything else. Let me guess, you also think that a stalker, after ASing should stand and fight, when their strength is attacking from hide.
|
B) Seeing as how you can't Assassin Strike someone while jumping past them at high speed, I wouldn't say it was ever much of an issue.

I'm thinking we have a troll.
A "badger" view of PVP.
Since there is no penalty to a pvp death I see no reasons for the complaints of being killed in a pvp zone while badge hunting. In fact being killed fast and repeatedly only increased my badge collecting rate.
When getting hvys click one and then die immediately via a pvp kill and hosp fast. Then go get another hvy....you can easily get 2-3 a min in this way especialy if a mass has formed near your base entrance. All the while you are collecting no debt, lose no pvp rating, and add to your damage badge.
When getting pills, your progress does not reset. You merely hosp and return to continue...again while collecting damge badge credit with no penalty such as debt or loss of rep. And if an opposing side takes a pill even better because they are easier to kill.
As for the AV's, well very few in the game can solo them so you should be in a team anyway for those. Forming a 2-3 team group doesn't hurt...just don't broadcast in channels because I know you pvp's start licking your chops and will leave whatever you are on to log your "killers" lol
Only explores can be "interrupted" and well you are in a pvp zone and again you gain damage badge credit.
PVP rep is best farmed in warburg with a 30 wp tank as the cannon fodder set to auto rez. Time your kill rate to conicide with rez and you can get a kill every 2:34 (3 recharge IOs in rez) and one point for every 2 kills (5 minutes on defeat list). Make sure both toons are on an oro TF so no kick for AFK and don't auto set a knockback power on the killing toon. Lastly find a secret spot because you will be interupted if give the chance. Then you can sleep on it
Best thing is get all those yummy drops like Pan Heals and Glad Javs. I got 8 drops in 12 hours last run...sold for well over 2 billion. And the PVP's gain off this when they are pwning me while hunting hvys and pills because each kill of me brings a 5 point bounty my rep is 389.
=O 8 drops in 12 hours... I rarely get one drop in 12 hours of afk farm,,,err hardcore PvPing. But I have really bad luck with drops in this game. (thank you for tip and Ouro farms... errr I mean hardcore PvEing).

I'm not certain what the best approach would be, but this does sound better than letting people zoom by and dealing irretaliable (it should totally be a word!) damage by exploiting the powers' activation times. As far as the I13 changes are concerned, travel suppression is one I fully condone and support. |
I really don't know what to say to a person who condones being slowed down when they get attacked or pop an insp. and have their regen suppressed when their travel get suppressed.
A) Don't get close if you're a ranged damage dealer. You don't do that in PvE do you? |
Slowing down pvp is not the way fix anything. gutting TP wasn't the way to fix anything. they could have done a few changes to fly (giving it -fly resistance or something) to make it better.
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
I don't fault the devs for what they were trying to do: they wanted to make PvP more accessible so that some casual person with a PvE build could wander into a PvP zone and do reasonably well. I disagree with their solution, though, where they nerfed the ever-loving crap out of everyone.
Regardless, that has nothing to do with badges. Maybe it was badgers who were complaining, but the changes in PvP weren't made for the purpose of badge hunting.
