What to roll to ease into PVP
Ok,
So Ive decided after several 50s for pve that I need to get into pvp to have some excitement back. Tryin to decide on some ideas. Played brutes, scrappers, corruptors, doms, mm and blasters. Just trying to find something I can have some fun on get some kills not get 1 shotted non-stop and basiclly learn how to pvp. Im on Freedom. Just came back to the game and lookin to have some fun. I dont mind expensive builds...heck something to work for. But Id like to give pvp an "honest" attempt this time. Any suggestions/advice/help would be greatly appreciated. |
Whoa! Did I just RP and answer? I think I kinda did.
lol. I don't think he should start with a PB. maybe he can graduate to a PB, until then, use this! also say, "pew pew pew" in broadcast when you kill people.

Personally, I recommend starting with a Pyro, as they seem easy to play for a beginner. Soldier too. Try to stay away from using a spy until you get a better handle on the game. Also, the difference between a good medic and a terrible medic is paper thin.

yes, pyro or soldier, scout and demo can also be ok for starting at times
Pyro...Soilder? Crabs?
WOW I got alot to learn
Demomen are OP.
Are crabs good in pvp? or Widows. I have a 50 widow now. and working a Crab up...mmmm...or are they "too complicated" for a noob like me?
Crabs are no fun, I think you need a cream or special stuff to get rid of em.
Brute: ss/wp, stone/stone, DB/stone
Corruptor: Ice/Kin, Fire/Storm, Rad/Rad
Dom: Mind/Eng
Widow
Tank: Stone/Stone, WM/Inv, fire/fire
Controller: fire/kin, Grav/Rad
Scrapper: Fire/SD, BS/SD
Blaster: Fire/MM
MM: Bots/Dark
I think thats all of them. Just not sure what to do is all. Sorry for the headaches. ADHD sucks!

bane's perform just as well and are much cheaper to build. and you get shatter/webnades.
you could also spec the mind/eng
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
When I first started pvping my first pvp toon was a fire/energy blaster. You will be killed fairly easily but the thing is you should rely on sneak ranged attacks with aim and BU tho blasters damage isnt what it was before the major pvp changes. Another good toon to start on is a regen scrapper or stalker. You will get kills, and be harder to kill, Imo a stalker takes a bit of "know how" tho since it plays differently than any other toon.
wait did banes get buffed in pvp? I remmber them being no where near NW

I wouldn't roll a regen though atleast at first, you develop alot of bad habits.

I think the best role to start yourself off in PvP is definitely a blaster.
Psy/EM Fire/EM or Sonic/EM would be the way I'd go. (Personally I enjoy my Fire/EM more in zones than I do my Psy/EM, though the Psy is a much better arena toon)
As a blaster you're forced to play defensive and mind your surroundings. And if you can learn to play defensive/evade in zones even with stupid things like HD and TS on you'll be in good shape to play other AT's.
Fire/MM is workable but boost range is just too good to pass up.
id go with your mind/energy dom.....
50 fire/dev--50 dark/thug--50 earth/storm--50 fire/regen--50 earth/thorn--50 kin/rad

I agree with PC and crop. that mind/nrg is capable of doing nasty things. Especially if the person you are attacking doesn't have enough KB prot. You also dont see a million of them running around too.

Don't waste the slot for a winters gift either, slows are lol now anyway so it is mostly useless.
Don't put the kismet proc in cj, put it in maneuvers.
3 steadfast's, a karma proc and a lotg proc in frozen armor
Then get rid of snowstorm and take flash freeze and five slot it with the fortunata hypnosis set minus the proc.
and then that build will be pretty good.

Mind/energy is beast, but a blaster would definately be a easier thing to start with.
Cool working on a mind/eng build now...wish me luck
