Help Me Name This Manga!
Dude... I think you stumped the board.
Nicely done!

The only thing better than knowing I stumped the board would be figuring out what this manga was called.
Current Badge Hunter: Plot Device (Rad/Thermal/Dark) - 1,268 Xbox Live: Friggin Taser
King of Electricity, Lead Inmate running the Carl and Sons asylum, the "Man" behind the Establishment, Given Honor in Hat Form By Paragon City (Favorite Forum Poster 2006!), Master of Ceremonies of the Fair Use Law podcast
The only thing I could think of is Key the Metal Idol, but it is an anime, main character is a female, not a comedy, and she doesn't eat batteries. Might want to try a manga forum since it doesn't look like anyone knows.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.
Coincidentally, this is the 4th forum I'm stumped with this question.
I'm starting to wonder if I didn't dream this manga up.

While trying to google 'comedy manga boy thinks he is a robot' I actually found this thread so I am just going in circles.
I had searched for about an hour on this and didn't turn up anything.
It may not exist.
There was an episode of Futurama where Fry thought he was a robot.

I see myself as witty, urbane, highly talented, hugely successful with a keen sense of style. Plus of course my own special brand of modesty.

I literally went through their release list by date starting in 1999 and going forward and FOUND IT:

Glad I could help.
See that's why a non regular had to come in and suggest where to search
Well, that makes it understandable why nobody guessed it. The description here sounds nothing at all like the description of the manga. Funny how the mind can distort things from the past and something that was minor in the original becomes a major plot line in the memory while the major points simply vanish into the ether.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to re-watch Akira. A great anime movie about small green children and their animated stuffed animals.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
Ooh... by the mangaka of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. That sells it for me.

"Robots don't say 'ye'!"
"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.
So I was able to track me down completed series from a local Japanese importer I know and am reading it now and I can definitely see why my description was so off.
I think, years ago, I only caught the first chapter or two, where the battery thing is a major plot point. After that things get even more bat-crap insane and branch out from there.
Highly recommended!

And it was just announced that the manga is now being made into an upcoming anime series.
It looks like someone over in Japan must have remembered this manga around the same time as I did.

well, you had me at bat-@#$% insane, will check it if it gets brought over.
Okay, City of Comic Lovers, I have a problem hopefully you can solve. Many years ago I was a fan of a fan translated (as far as I know it's never been brought to the US) manga. That was three computers ago, though, and have long since lost any trace of what the title of the manga was.
Here is the premise: it's a comedy/gag manga about a boy who wakes up one day and believes himself to be a robot. This leads to a running gag of him thinking he needs batteries to live and how would be best to insert said batteries.
Any leads?
