Rewards and cooldowns
I suspect that one side effect of the various merits, tickets and other and other non-liquid assets is to reduce supply. The reason is that a lot of players simply can't be bothered to mess around with them and so just ignore them. It's much easier to list the odd purple than to random roll merits!
Of course, without any hard data on what happens to recipes, merits etc it's hard to know for sure. (For one thing, I'd love to know how much of the stuff in the market comes from farmers.)
The devs seem to think that transferable wealth is a "bad thing" but all these alternative systems are make the game more complicated without adding much benefit. That seems like a poor trade off for a game that's aimed at casual players.

I did have a good laugh that base salvage and invention salvage was too confusing so they got rid of base salvage but have added 2 new types of merits after Vanguard merits were put in the game. I've seen more confusion over hero/villain merits than anything I can recall in years.

"Hmm, I guess I'm not as omniscient as I thought" -Gavin Runeblade.
I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Now, if my math is correct you should be able to get 8Amerits a week. Every 20hours x 7days = 140hours. 24hrs x 7days = 168 hours.
So you have an extra day/2merits in 1 day thing with 4hours to spare. Every 6th week you'll be able to make 9 in 1week. Also, depending on enforcing your status as a V/H you should be able to do it 2-3times a week.
Looking at 8-10/11/12 merits a week. Depends if you're a heavy player. Like someone said, it shouldn't take no more than 21days(10merits a week)
This is costly and time consuming. You'll need to generate 400merits a week, and 160mill per week. In some other thread I heard someone say
If my math is correct, a Hero merits would be around 75mill per. |
So 3weeks for all 30H/V would equal to about 2.280-2.40bill in 3weeks.**I forgot to deduct 450-480mill inf - since its free "inf" from enforcing your H/V status** Now I was hoping this system would kill "RMT" - "PvP" farming since some people buy inf to get the rare and pricey things to be cool and be that bad*** w/o bubble gum.

"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Oh I forgot to mention. Lets say you're going for that Gladiator's Armor proc, 30merits ^ look at my other post for the math etc.
They go for 2billion(cap) on the market, don't forget that marketing tax (5%?) I think. So with 30merits to buy the proc would be 1.83-1.92bill. If you're looking to sell it on the market 2billion(cap) you would only make 80mill-170mill profit. Unless you sell on the forums for outrages prices.

Outrageous items command outrageous prices.
*shrug* We will get very slightly more high end stuff than we used to get, assuming the old ways of getting the stuff are still out there. I mean, we got 0.05% more pool C's from whacking Bosses. It didn't change things much. 0.05% more PVP recipes from hero merits? Fine, whatever.
(also the market fee, so you don't have to sell EVERYTHING on the forums, is 10% total. 5% down.)
Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
They're not outrageous if someone will pay them. Even at 2b minus fees it is a good deal if you prefer combat to market activities. What's more important than that is the fact that you get a pvp recipe of your choice, guaranteed. Having 2b inf does not mean you can buy a pvp recipe off the market whenever you want, you get to wait and hope the rng likes you, and that you get one in days as opposed to months.
Put it this way, for the same cost as a good pvp recipe you could instead buy 15 lotg's or 150 random gold rolls. Which is worth more?
Also, does anyone think this was their attempted fix for things selling for over market cap off-market? Giving everyone(everyone who wants to play a true hero or villain anyway) the ability to earn one on their own? It won't work, for reasons Fulmens just stated.

That was changed with GR? I used to run the carp out of that arc, but haven't since GR release. I was not aware it had changed.

Its not a bad arc now per se, but there are others that are better.

@Catwhoorg "Rule of Three - Finale" Arc# 1984
@Mr Falkland Islands"A Nation Goes Rogue" Arc# 2369 "Toasters and Pop Tarts" Arc#116617
The last BIG outlier that I was aware of (Spy Hunt) was hammered down by making the last mission not timed. (and thus not fail-able)
