Loving the GR Easter Eggs I've seen, but this one stood out for me.

In the Praetorian market I found 6 things to click on.

In Studio 55 I found 5.

In the Loyalist Lounge I think there were 5 also.

Some of them made me laugh out loud and the rest made me chuckle.

I had a dialogue one in the patient zero arc.

Resistance dude 1: Wolverines!

Resistance dude 2: Really?

Resistance dude 2: Wolverines?

I had to back up out of aggro range and laugh and pump my fists to the devs over the Red Dawn reference. Still smile about it.

I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.

Sorry but since Red Dawn came out when I was in HS most 'kids' don't understand what "Wolverines!" means. Or I just don't know many 'kids'. Whatevah.

No, the Council was the first group (backstory-wise). The 5th was essentially just Requiem's little pet project, but since Requiem's kinda incompetent, the Center came in and decided to assert more direct control.

.... Only after the retcon.

And seriously people who haven't yet played half life and hl2? Buy them, and play them. Pick up the Orange Box and the HL1 anthology. You will NOT regret it. The story telling in hl2 is so rich and full, that in waiting for the latest installment of the game (episode 3) we've had a huge pile of speculative threads over in the Steam forums about who would do what, where, etc - not just 'what kind of weapons I want' or 'we need a new vehicle'. Plus, similar to the AE here, Valve offers its source engine (... Source) and the tools to use it, to the public. Thus, there are large numbers of excellent (and many mediocre) maps and mod games derived from it available to pass the time.

... When I couldn't afford COH, I could still play hl2, so...

I didn't think I would either. My only prior exposure to them was of all things the original Doom. The ORIGINAL doom.

I bought Portal because I'd found some friends artwork and enjoyed seeing the little bits of it online, and it became a gateway drug for me Plus, Portal is set IN the half life universe (though Portal 2 will be set 'hundreds of years in the future' so it's connection is less tight). The gameplay and immersive experience is really well worth it, even if you think you won't like the FPS aspect. After all, COH can be an FPS if you just hit B.

The Half-Life guy I did get though I haven't seen him in-game yet. Not much of a spoiler but a small warning perhaps?

There's an entire page on the Paragon Wiki of In-game References. I'm sure it will have to be updated now to accommodate these.

Red Dawn is a classic, plenty of people have seen it. I was introduced to it in college myself, and it's a great/fun movie. Not quite cheesy and has an interesting perspective on things before the Cold War was over. I rather wonder if more people who grew up after (or mostly after) it was over should watch movies like that to appreciate how things were a little more.

Anyway, I love the jokes and easter eggs we have in game. Definitely adds a fun layer to things. I'm noticing a lot of good writing so far in the game... just ran into Test Rat and got a kick out of her.

I don't like FPS games, either, but I sat and watched Archie play through Half Life and HL2. The story is that much fun.

Half-Life 2 and Bioshock are two of the best GAMES I've ever played, not just FPSs. Those two along with Shadow of the Colossus are shining examples of games as art and as mediums for good storytelling. Also, Half-Life 2 allows you to get in a crane and throw a shipping container on "people" that richly deserve it. The game was a worthwhile purchase for that alone, and that's not even counting Ravenholme or meeting Alyx Vance.

You'd love it Golden Girl, it involves fighting back against a ridiculously oppressive regime.

Ahem. One Easter Egg I've found, well at least I consider it such, is the very early "preview" of a character you'll meet (probably to your regret) much later.

From a bigger picture here. At one point you could target him, although obviously you couldn't do anything.

I found another Half Life reference

During Chase McKnight's arc, dealing with the Syndicate, one of their hackers is named BlueShift.

Regarding the Syndicate, do they not give off something of a Kill Bill vibe? I don't know. That's what I thought of when I first fought them.

Is that? Could it be? ELVIS?

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

If you don't like FPS, but want to get some idea about the whole Half-Life phenomenon, may I recommend pursuing a "Let's Play" of them?

Unfortunately, I lost the link I had to a good Half-Life lets play, but here's one for a Half-Life 2, & Half-Life 2: Episode 1 Lets Play:

http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Half-L...ith Episode 1/

Really, if all you want is a good idea about the G Man? Just watch the very first video for a bit. You'll quickly get the idea.

To any of you who haven't played the half life series, I highly suggest it. But anyway, go and YouTube Gman, this will probably put the joke into context.
