Controller APP Changes

EDIT: Ignore the rest of this post, I have been informed that wiki is currently misleading. Controller APPs are not changing. Phew.

so i've been really happy with everything coming in GR, but i was wondering what they would be doing with APPs/PPPs. someone finally sent a link to the paragonwiki list:

now i'm not so happy. if this list is correct, here are the Controller/Dominator APPs:

Energy Torrent

so whats missing? my main, a controller, has primal forces mastery, and 2 of the 3 powers he took are gone: both energy blast and power boost have been eliminated . i realize they went with simiplicity when proliferating and altered conserve power in other ATs APPs due to copies, but since two of the dominator secondaries have power boost, they cut it completely from the APP. i'd be fine with that if they didn't change controller APPs too. not only that, but they also eliminated the single target blasts from all of the APPs.

i'd really like to know their reasoning for this change and the reaction from the beta boards, but i don't have access. (besides the obvious reasons of dominator secondaries). couldn't they have just had separate but similar APPs?

i could deal with energy blast being changed to energy transfer (another purple set and more damage). i'd deal. but power boost?! my build is completely messed up (i don't like the option of never respecing again to keep those powers... if i was even allowed to).

Hmm, I was excited when I saw this list on the Dom forum just now. Bummed out for my trollers though.

Yeah, the lack of a single target blast blows and many of mine will miss Power Boost. I better respec my trollers now because I'm not going to want to touch these APPs afterward, at least for most of mine.

Some of these do look interesting. Double Sleets for /Colds? Double Melt Armors for /Therms? Link Minds for an /Emp? Not too bad.

Seems like, overall, this is better for team-oriented trollers rather than soloers.

Whoa whoa whoa hold your horses mate. Nothing has changed for Controller APP's.

What you are looking at is the new Dominator APP's which are simply a copy/paste job with a few alternatives placed in.

Do not worry, any powers you had before will still be there. All that is happening is Villain AT's are getting their own version of APP's, and Hero AT's are getting their own version of PPP's.

Hero APP's and Villain PPP's are not changing.

Hope that is clear and reassures you. :-)

There is a lot of copy/paste involved in this, so probably why there isn't much fanfare from the devs.

I'm pretty sure that's wrong (OP, not you Peace)

Controllers are getting Domi PPPs, but Controllers keep their old APPs and Domis get those new sets, presumably because so many Controller ones clash with Domis currently so a straight switch wasn't possible.

Whomever wrote the Wiki got the wrong end of the stick

Just checked the wiki to see if you had simply misread it. Afraid to say that the wiki is wrong. Dominator and Controller APP's for instance are very similar, but they are not the identical. Castle used the Controller APP's as a template and made a few tweaks where necessary.

I think you may be misreading those, which is understandable the way that page is set up. The headings should not read Controller/Dominator for both.

Controllers still have their current APP's. Those are not changing. The only thing on that list that applies to controllers is the list of Patron Power Pools.

Same thing for Dominators. The only thing for them that applies is the list of APP's.

sorry i didn't mean to confuse or upset anyone, i didn't have the info and it was kinda glossed over with all of the other stuff in GR and jumped on the info when someone finally posted a link. i freaked out because no one had said anything.

believe me, i'm glad that nothing is changing - i'd rather not have to do my build over.

edit: after looking at other ATs - controllers aren't the only ones who might be confused - they should really clear up that these are the proliferated sets and the original sets aren't changing.

No worries. I will say that I do with Controllers got Rain of Fire. It will be nice to get it on the Dominators I bring over.

There's a problem with Controller's PPP : there's PFF... I hope they'll change them, because there's no single target DD. Too bad :/

It seems Mu is the only one without a single target blast for Controllers. That seems counter intuitive since its the only electric themed epic set and they are releasing electric control.

I'll pass on a single target blast for a Mu guardian. Or any of the other pets even. Really, I skip the single target in favor of AoE nearly every time.

At any rate, I'm surprised PFF is *still* in there. It's obviously a overlap problem and there are plenty of mace powers that could take it's place. I know the devs are busy, but c'mon...

WHOAH. Controllers get WATER SPOUT. That power is so awesome. It only does Kup and does great damage. I want to roll a */Storm controller now . Tornado + Waterspout ftw.

People have been pointing out this and other huge problems for months now, with nothing to show for it. Expect it to go live as-is, which will result in an uproar when duplicate/broken powers are removed or changed heavily.

PPPs are supposed to be weaker than APP... Is this must be still true in Going Rogue ?
PPPs shouldn't follow the APP pattern : a single blast, an aoe blast, an armor, and 2 utilities powers ?

On my plant/storm, I currently have the ice Epic Pool:
Hibernate
Frost Breath

In Leviathon mastery, what I would probably be taking:
Water Spout
Bile Spray
Hibernate
Shark Skin

Just curious, how does Water Spout damage compare to Tornado and/or Ice Storm?
Also, how does Bile Spray compare to Frost Breath?

The "Summon Corolax" would be interesting - be nice to have 2 pets out, but I'm not sure it's worth giving up another power.

Why are PPPs supposed to be better than APPs? Originally, when you couldn't switch it was thought that they were going to be better, but that didn't really pan out.

Nowadays I'm fairly sure the two are supposed to be on roughly a par (in theory anyway, and allowing for The Devs Hate Villains of course).

if they're sharing the same numbers, Tornado outdamages Water Spout, but Water Spout doesn't send things flying to the four winds and Bile Spray does more than Frost Breath, though Bile Spray is toxic damage.
