GUIDE: Issue 18 & Going Rogue Beta - What you need to know

Zombie, I have some important info for you to add to your guide.

On Thursday, August 12, I discovered that the Shield Patterns (i.e. Cheif, etc.) are not broken, per-say. Rather, they're controlled by the Shader Quality setting.

If it is set to Lowest, Low (No world bumpmaps), or Low (With world bumpmaps), you won't see patterns on any of the Shields, except Kite.

If it is set to Medium or High, patterns show up as they should.

Tonight, I discovered that this also affects things like the Resistance "Plaques". I was standing right in front of one in Imperial City, and couldn't see it. Blondeshell came, and said, "It's right there". I saw nothing on the wall, but when I moved my mouse, the cursor changed to the interactive hand icon.

At that point, I noticed a faint horizontal line on the building. Remembering the issue with Shield Patterns, I changed my Shader Quality from Low (With world bumpmaps) to High. As soon as I pressed Apply, and the changes were made, I could see the grafitti I was supposed to click for the History "Plaque".

Well, this isn't a feature.

I'll put it under known issues. Please make sure you /bug this.

Thanks.

After leaving Praetoria and deciding on either Hero or Villain, yes.

Is it possible to create a SG/VG in Praetoria?

I just wanted to check something which seemed a bit... off.

Day 1 - did 1 tip mission, gained 1/10 in the vill bar and 1/5 in the fame bar
Day 2 - fame bar empty, did 5 tips, now at 6/10 villain and 5/5 fame
Day 3 - fame bar empty, did 4 tips, now at 10/10 villain and 4/5 fame... no morality mission available, but had another standard tip mission drop.

Did the last tip mission, now 10/10 villain and 5/5 fame. Morality mission then appeared in contact tip list as now available. This makes it appear as if you need a full fame bar as well as a full villain bar to get your morality mission. Bugged or WAI?

Also, maybe to add to the guide...what's the recharge for the Frenzy power (and related powers) or is it a one shot power?

68 Level 50s, all made the old-fashioned way.
Original: Quasar Lad - Fire/Kin troller. Latest: Asp Kicker - Grav/Poison troller.
Completed the "Full Alty Challenge" - level 50 in every archetype, and "Alty's Ultimate Power Challenge" - level 50 in every available powerset in the game.

Odd, after the alignment bar was filled at 10/10, the next Tip should have been a Morality Mission and not an Alignment mission.

Yeah, I think the order of operations is a little odd there. I completed 10/10 last night, but didn't have a Morality tip yet. So I did another alignment mission, got the Morality tip in that mission. In that case, I think the 11th alignment mish doesn't end up counting. Doing the morality mish also removed another alignment mish I had accepted but hadn't run yet.

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

Maybe this is what happened to me as well... the last alignment tip mission had dropped during mission 10 and so was in my list when I finished mission 10. Completing *that* mission (technically #11) filled the 5/5 bar and probably the morality mission dropped during it. Does the morality mission drop come with an on-screen message? (The way alignment missions get a big yellow "Tip Obtained" or whatever when they drop.) If so, I never saw it.

If your story removes an NPC from the game world (or, at least, the city), then you won't see them anymore in the open zone. They will be invisible and intangible to you. In short, they'll be gone... but just to you. Others in the zone will see them (until they do the same mission you did which disappears them).
See this BETA thread for a list of 'disappearing' contacts.

Is there a list of missions that will result in them disappearing? I know when Washington goes away, and I suppose I recall some of the others going away at some point long after I was done with them as contacts.

Specifically, when does Dr. Steffard go away? I had thought I had outleveled the IC Warden Arc after Luke didn't introduce him. I went and looked for him and he was gone (for me). I guess it happened some time when I was a Loyalist or during the Crusader arc? And I suppose it means that I'm now locked out of the Imperal City Warden arc? I was hoping to try and do all the arcs on the one character.

Thanks

Edit: Whoops, Never mind. The link to the plots with spoilers (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=235373) works now and spells it out for me. He goes away in the Responsability arc. Dang. That's a little annoying. How do I get the Seer's moral choice mission, or even her souvenier then? Or is it lost forever?

You'll get the souvenir when it eventually become Flashback-able, presumably at Ouroboros.

Did some searching, and I haven't been able to find a solid answer on this, so I thought this would be the place to ask:

Do we have a way for uninstalling the GR Beta client? Something better than just deleting the folder?

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
