ZAM is as excited about the impending release of City of Heroes Going Rogue as we are, and they're proving it by throwing a contest where you could win BIG! Here's your opportunity to be original and creative for the chance to win a Dell Alienware M11X Laptop, a Cyborg R.A.T. 7 Mouse, a pair of Gunnar gamer glasses and an awesome plaque honoring the epic deeds of your character!

All you have to do is draw an original hero or villain (it can't be a screenshot) and submit it by following the instructions on their website!

Have fun entering - and thanks for supporting Going Rogue, ZAM!

Please note: the ZAM Going Rogue Character Creation Contest is only valid in the United States. Read their rules here before entering the contest.

From what I read in the rules for the contest, you don't have to draw well at all to win. All the winners, including the Grand Prize, are drawn randomly. The only things needed to be eligible for the computer is to a) be at least 18, b) live in the lower 48 States somewhere, c) have a ZAM account, and d) submit any kind of hand-drawn picture of one of your characters (no screenies). There's no mention of a panel of judges looking at your artwork, or anything.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

In short, yellowish sunglasses. They protect from certain radiation (or whats it called) for your monitor and provide a more relax 'view' of your screen. (less headache).

I couldn't draw to save my life, I pay people who are good at it to draw for me.
How would they be able to tell? XD It also doesn't matter too much, winner will be picked at random.

Some guy submitted a picture of two pairs of chopsticks and a bowl. For some reason, I'm wondering if they will win.

My question is - how strict are they on the 'hand drawn' aspect of the rule. I can hand draw it on my computer and touch it up with fancy shading and effects, but I don't want that to disqualify me.

Hey SinergyX, try not to get to worked up. As usual I can't participate either since I live in Hawaii. Neither can players from Alaska, Central, and South America, or you Europeans. Thems the breaks. I can't even imagine trying to comply with regulations for the 48 states, let alone all the other countries you are complaining about. It's the price you pay for playing the game and living where you do. Yea it sucks, but it is a stale old rant that is not likely to get any fresher with more repeats, nor is it likely to change their policies.

Its not NCSoft's fault that the rules are set to include a specific region. ZAM is an outside group doing their own contest to promote NCSoft's new game (and getting new people to register for the ZAM site). ZAM's contest. ZAM's rules. :/

Well, good luck to all of the 79 or so entrants! You'll be hard pressed to find better odds for a new laptop!

Unfortunately, it seems ZAM isn't following their own rules. Something about it just does not feel right. Unless I'm reading this all wrong.

This is taken from their rules http://www.zam.com/wiki/Going_Rogue_..._Contest_Rules

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Winner Selection. Raffle winners (Daily Prize winners) will be selected one per day for the first six (6) days of the contest. Raffle winners are based upon all correct entries received between 12:00 AM on the day before the drawing takes place and 11:59 PM the day before the drawing takes place. A First Prize winner will be selected at random from contestants submitting entries on the first Sunday of the contest after opening on Sunday, August 8th at 12:00 AM and after closing on Sunday, August 8th, at 11:59 PM. From the next day, Monday, August 9th until Saturday, August 14th, additional raffle winners (Daily Prize winners) will be selected one per day for those six (6) days of the contest. Raffle winners are based upon all correct entries received between 12:00 AM on the day before the drawing takes place and 11:59 PM the day before the drawing takes place. A Grand Prize winner will be chosen at random on the last day of the contest from all completed entries received throughout the duration of the contest. In order to be eligible for the Grand Prize, contestants must submit an image of a hero or villain. Winners of the daily raffle are no longer eligible to receive another daily prize, however, they are still eligible for the Grand Prize.

6. Winner Notification. When your name is drawn, notification will be posted http://www.zam.com/contests/goingrogue.html using your site user name. You will also be notified via e-mail at the e-mail address attached to your ZAM account. You will have until 5:00 PM one week from the date your name is drawn to respond with a copy of a drivers license or ID card to confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. Responses should be sent to (removed email). The ID must be from a valid location within the United States of America to receive the prize. If you fail to respond in the time allotted, you will forfeit the prize and the prize will be rewarded to another randomly drawn winner from the pool of entries.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its set up as a random drawing in their rules. The notifications did not go up during the week as noted in their rules. The postings finally came up about the last day or so as to who the daily winners were. When I saw the gallery before the cut off, there were less then 100 entries. So, when I saw their grand prize announcement, I have to say, it just feels fishy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was on the Grand Prize Winner page http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=23000

After going through hundreds of entries, the winner for our character design contest has been picked. Take a look at the Grand Prize submission, as well as some pretty cool runners-up.

We received a bunch of cool entries for our City of Heroes: Going Rogue contest. To enter, you had submit a character of your own creation (not a screenshot). What we found is we have some very talented people amongst our readership. We chose our Grand Prize winner, as well as some deserving runners-up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There weren't hundreds of entries in the gallery. If it was random drawing, why would they need to go through all of the entries to pick a winner? I can understand going through many entries to root out what passed the qualifications, but not to pick who won.
