As some of you may have already guessed my avatar is in fact a Schooner. I guess I should explain myself. I am from Australia. We have seven different territories/states and each has its own rules. Let’s start where I am from, in Queensland. A Schooner is 425 mL so it’s about three quarters of a pint and is probably the most common measurement that a typical Aussie man would ask for in a bar. Alternative measures are a pot, which sounds bigger but isn’t, it’s 285 mL. Or you could ask for a glass which would be 200 mL.

Over in New South Wales, schooners and glasses are the same but a pot is called a middie. In Victoria it is all the same as Queensland but in South Australia a glass becomes a butcher, a pot turns into the schooner and a pint is only 425 mL, which is a schooner in everybody else’s language.
In Western Australia a glass is a bobby, a pot is a glass and a schooner is a pot, according to some sources. But others say it works out the same as it is in Queensland except a pot is a middie as it is in New South Wales. That’s because in Western Australia a pot is 575 mL which is slightly more than a pint but close enough to be called a pint by all the English people who live there.

I am not making this up, it’s for real.

In Northern Territory a schooner is a schooner but a pot is a handle and a glass is a seven. Although another source tells me that a glass is a six not seven, because the seven is actually a pot and the handle is 425 mL which of course, in most other places is a schooner.

Stick with me on this, we only have Tasmania left to go.

In Tassie, just as in N.T. (probably) a glass is a seven. But a pot is a ten and a pint only 425 mL.

And if your still confused by all the mL's. Just remember that 425mL is equal to about 14.3 oz.

Hope this helps to clear the confusion.

Beer glass sizes here are a crap shoot depending on what establishment you decide to go to.

If it's a decent place, the "small" is usually 16 oz, and "large" is 20 oz (and a few actually sell the "yard"). If it's a cheap place, they start at 10-12 oz and miiiiiiight go up to a 16.

No special names... just roll the dice.

I've never been a big fan of drinking tap water. Not only has the Queensland Government purposefully added Fluoride to the states water system, but studies worldwide have shown that everyday tap water can contain many harmful chemicals. Chlorine, Pesticides, Lead, Benzene, Arsenic, Mercury, and Cadmium are just a few of a long list. Personally I believe water purification goes a long way to reduce these and other unwanted chemicals, and would suggest it to all of you not already implementing it.

As to keep this discussion game related, here's a quick update as to my characters progress:

A great in game experience one again. Although the XP has seemingly slowed down dramatically, the fun certainly has not. Many people to thank for advice, assistance, education and team participation that saw Schooner rise to level 30 (completed the Synapse TF, the Ernesto Hess TF and the Citadel TF today), sadly though, too many to name. In particular however, I would like to single out @adhna, who gave up what they were doing on a different character just to to switch out and help me out of a difficult corner.

I was soloing the "Looking through the Glass" story arc from Special Agent Jenni Adair (which is both challenging and entertaining) when I came across the final mission of the arc. For those of you that haven't run this story arc; it is an epic battle with what turned out to be for me a +2 Elite Boss named Protean, with more tricks up his sleeve than Harry Houdini. Only after I ran into trouble did I notice the disclaimer at the bottom of the mission description suggesting I bring friends.

Needless to say, I was in a pickle. Consequently, I asked in one of the Justice global channels if anyone could spare some time to help me defeat this Protean. Although it was very late and not many people were online, @adhna came to my rescue with a pimped out regeneration scrapper. I was suitably impressed and forever in their debt.

Thanks again for all your help and hope to see you soon in game.

Oh, LOL. I'm sorry I misunderstood you. We call it tap beer as well. As soon as I read your post I had visions of Barney from The Simpson's drinking straight from the tap at Moe's. Not something I would have thought a lady wearing a hula skirt (pa'u?) would attempt. Me and my stereotypes. My bad.

ZOMG, you said pa'u! Okay everyone, this newbie is a-okay on my list!

And hey, a girl's gotta improvise if she can't figure out the proper lingo for ordering her drink! Wouldn't do it in my pa'u though...too messy!

Agreed! Not in the pa'u. In the pool! The now beer wrestling pool! Who needs jello anyway?

BTW I think Schooner firmly established his creds in the loony-bin with the glassware post.

"Hope this helps to clear the confusion." Hah! He slays me!

I got to the part where you said "I am from Australia." Then my mind wandered to how you guys have those giant spiders that are will chase after ground vibrations and how screwed I'd be cause I would ruuuuuuuun like whoa.

Oh and welcome to my Kingdom of Justice, have a complimentary Spider-Ham.

As some of you may know, upon hitting 14 and taking super speed I was thoroughly smitten with my character to the point where I had to subscribe to the game. Many thanks must go to the many people that helped me join a few of the major Justice community global channels, helped me with build ideas and provided links to the build planner: Mids' (http://www.cohplanner.com), and to the general teams and task forces that I was privileged enough to join today. I had a great time.

I'd like to make a couple of special mentions. I really am having a fun time with this Fiery Aura/Super Strength Tanker, but was getting disheartened by the way I was getting thrown around like a rag-doll. Consequently, firstly I'd like to give a shout out and thank you to @Tritonfree who donated 2 Steadfast: Knock back Reduction Invention Origin Recipes and the influence to craft them. They helped immensely.

Id also like to take this opportunity to thank @Anita Bedit who invited me not only to their Super Group, but organized and invited me on a number of Task Forces. From memory, I was able to partake in the Positron TF, The Sister Psyche TF and the Moonfire TF. Not only did he help me find teams and other great people to play with but he also donated a Celerity: Stealth Invention Origin Enhancement and more influence than I could poke a stick at for a complete Invention Origin Enhancement overhaul. I can't stress how much these made a difference. I even was able to solo both the Elites Bosses; Heracles and Maestro.

To sum up a quick progress report: After playing for far too long over the last 48 hours, the lack of sleep has finally got the best of me. However, I'm proud to announce my Tanker, "Schooner", is now level 24 and has level 25 Invention Origin Enhancements in all power enhancement slots.

Thanks again for both your company and help and hope to see you in game again soon.

I would like to vote Justice as the helpiest server we have. Now I know that helpiest isn't actually a word but if it were then I just used it perfectly.

Enjoy your day please.

I was going to welcome you and offer you stuff, but it sounds like you already got lots of stuff.

Also, after reading your post on regional beer differences, I need a drink.

It makes the most sense that way.

Umm... I realize this is long past... But why does a tank have a +Stealth IO?

I think the last time I logged in, many many months ago, my fire/ss was low 30s. i don't recall thinking "I wish I would STEALTH this mission!"

Not that it matters. I now want beer!

Btw... Found a bar in Old Town Scottsdale sunday night that has BEER PONG setups! I encourage this for EVERY bar from now on!

I put a stealth IO in sprint on everything. That way I have the option of stealthing if I want it.

If the team is used to speeding, stealth + superspeed is the best way to keep up with the rest of the team in terms of getting there fast and not bringing extra aggro to the destination.

I just have never thought of a tank stealthing... The logic is solid, I just wouldn't have thought about it.

It's been a couple of days since my last post and I'm sure you've all been wondering how the newbie is going. So I'm here to give a quick update and hand out some more big thank you's.

First off, I'd like to thank 3 generous people who gave up their time to help out with a strange request. Although, I'm sure a lot of you have dealt with the following mission before, it was a new and challenging experience for me. I was running through the Anton Sampson story arc and came across the "Stop Nemesis' Macro Assembler" mission. In the mission description it talked about needing the help of 3 other people because the machines were interconnected and could only be deactivated simultaneously. I was running solo at the time and as this was a timed mission, I quickly started asking people for help. Within minutes of asking in what I've found to be the best Justice channel for finding awesome players, I had 2 helpers; @Anita Bedit and @Kilspyke. But I needed a 3rd, so I decided to ask in Justice United. Almost straight away @Bashful Banshee answered the call. Thank you very much to all three of these people. Needless to say, I couldn't have done it without you.

Now it's time for a bit of gloating. I'd like to thank the following people for what in the end was an epic task force: @Anita Bedit, @Illenia, @Jae, @Jenny Lewis, @Kilspyke, @Polar and @Reeta.

Now, I've participated in a few Imperious Task Forces, both Defeat All and Speed, but these people take the cake for creating an epic experience. Someone, I think it was @Jenny Lewis, decided what a great idea it would be to run the ITF against level 54 baddies. And while we lost two people with internet connection problems and took about an hour and 45 minutes, it was the best fun I've had in game thus far. Of course the 2 levels of XP and Schooner hitting level 41 was a consolation prize. Thanks again for the fun guys and girls.

Hope to see you all soon in game.

Schooner
