Blueside Hami Raid Poll
Hey folks, I'm interested in what everyone has to say in response to the following 2 questions. Don't worry about responding if you've already sent me a tell in game. Please answer honestly, and if you don't want to post a response, feel free to send me a PM.
1) Are you interested in seeing regularly scheduled blueside Hami raids come back? Why/why not? 2) Are you interested in leading Hami raids/a raid team? Why/why not? Thanks much. |
2) Sure, but I don't have any experience. Would like to see how it goes, see how the roles work out, and then move on to leading a team if needed.

Alrighty then it seems that as a whole WE WANT hammi raids.
It also seems that people respect your lead and you have a following.
If you want to pass the torch we need to continue raiding and appoint new leaders for future raids.
The new leads need to have your support or the server wont follow.
If I started to broadcast that I was going to run a Raid will I have the outcome that you have had in calling for a raid. No, cause people dont know me as a raid leader. I dont even think they know my emp from the raids.
Champs server has been my home for my tenure in COH. All of you are my neighbors and friends. We are this community.
I wish that all this back and forth would end and we could get on with doin more raids.

I know for myself I am still a touch burnt out on leading as I did it so long which I think is the same for some but not all of the Sunday lead crew.
I do know we are all willing to support and answer any questions anyone may have.
Personally I'd like to join in on some more raids but for now not as a team lead, would be nice to just sit back and enjoy the ride.
So anyone who wants to lead the raid or know how to run a team please hit me up, I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Having people like you giving leading raids a shot is the primary reason I said we should replace the "lead crew" in the first place.

this is a jerky way to get your point across, myrm.
its not a matter of replacing anyone, its a matter of other stepping up.. yourself included. Stop being a part of the problem and start being part of the solution. This isnt about a set crew, this is about a group of people...
Ive been raiding for the better part of a year, and i can tell you from my own personal exp that all it takes is the desire to step up and ask.. thats how i did it.. it wasnt a who i knew kind of thing.. i went to a couple of raids, it was advertised then if anyone had any interest to learn to ask, and i did.. that is in fact, how i got to know the people i now call my friends.. only person i knew prior to the 1st raid (other than the guys in sg and members of AOW from coalition) i went to was Amy. i led a few different teams and ultimately had the balls to lead the raid itself. During my time being part of the team of people that lead raids and team, numerous people stepped up with the same desire.. not all actually led the raids themselves but a lot of them lead teams.. we often switched up team leads because frequently we had more leads than teams available...
Your attitude with raids and it being an us vs them kinda thing is getting old, myrm. Like i said, stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.

It's my personal opinion that a system where the responsibility falls on the same people week after week is a recipe for burn out. From this thread, it seems that there are enough people able, willing, and interested in leading raids and there's technically no reason why we can't have weekly raids where people show up and offer to lead teams.
I'm willing to support anyone who wants to step up and try it, in whatever way they would like me to. If they would like to talk to me about my experiences, I'd be more than happy to do that. It's true the general strat hasn't changed drastically, but there are things we've tried over the past year and a half that really helped smooth things out and cut down on the overall time. If they'd like to figure some stuff out for themselves, I can also respect that. Just let me know. Whoever it is, whatever they choose, I'm all for people trying it out for themselves.

I'm glad you posted this, because there seems to be a misconception here. No one needs to be 'appointed' by anyone. All that needs to be done, if you want to lead a raid, is post it, set a time, get some people together and have an understanding of the strat. It's wide open to anyone who wants to give it a shot. No one owns Hami.

That just goes to show that even if you aren't well know on the server, even if you don't have prior raid leadership experience, if you advertise that you are goin' to do it, people will support it.

As for teachin' a new generation o' raiders I'd be game for it. I generically stuck to leading the scrapper teams but I have an understanding of how it's all done and what not and I lead several different teams for the red side raids also so if anyone wants to step up to be team lead and wants some tips/strap/info/etc. just give me a yell. I'm always game for moar jello.
I'll always be a "Champion" at heart. My server away from home.

So I guess, flexibility and having a good attitude is key. There is no one way to do the Hami thing, and with the coming of GR things will likely change up a little more. Either way, there are good, knowledgeable people out there who would be more than willing to help and impart any helpful advice when necessary.

One of the cool things about Amy leading some of the raids was that every once in a while she would say "okay guys, today we are going to try something different" and change up the strategy a little. The crew was flexible enough to say "sure, why not" and give it a go. Sometimes it wouldn't be successful and we'd have a laugh about it. But most of the times it was successful (such as having different assault teams for the blue and green mitos instead of one ranged targeter, and of course the "evac-less" method). Either way, we gained valuable information, through success and failure.

She had planned it out all day and then we went and did it.
I really remember this because I was late calling for the EoEs and got a lot of people killed the first wave
If I remember correctly the first evac-less raid we did as a Sunday night crew was Cherry's idea.

True, but the evac-less method was attempted before... unsuccessfully... with a different crew.

At the end you send me a tell congratulating me on the strategy and the win for Champion. I only did this twice on the server - the problem for me has always been that most outside of the "cool kids" box do not accept a better or alternative way of approach to these things as simple as they are.
There were many witnesses there (current blue board posters) including "pops" aka - agro vader and others. So, i'm not sure what failures you're making reference to on evac-less raids, brutha. The one I ran and tried to teach to others was a definite WIN! It wasn't a dragged on raid either (given that we had so many questioning the method).
- No nukes, shivans or any other gimmicks were used during "Gulliver's Reign." It's also something that I never posted because I don't care for attention - I just do things! And rep the community as the founder of the Brigade.
Again, unless i'm misunderstanding the statement above - it's a lie! You were there!
I have to DISAGREE with this statement cobalt! You were present when I ran my "Gulliver's Reign" strategy and the brigade held most of taunt (6 tanks) on yellow mitos with support (6 empaths) and roving kinetics (2 kin) - this was a no retreat strategy back when most were very accustomed to running back to the rocks and you said to me directly that you didn't see it working out - but were optimistic and curious to see how it went.

Then again, I remember your first raid and it bein' griefed. Details to the point o' the people involved, me sendin' tells to someone in the hopes that she would talk some sense into the organizer behind the passive griefin'. Passive bein' that they didn't outright pull aggro or things o' that nature, simply took up needed spots in the zone. I also remember that a player who was involved got fairly distraught that he was partakin' in it that he left the server. Seems kind o' ironic that people just takin' up spots in zone or not participatin' with the rest o' the raid could cause such a problem. That certainly hasn't happened since then. And it certainly wasn't someone from your SG. But, hey, my memory could be faulty...
Also, if they were so successful, how come you didn't lead more? If you had the participants, if you had the supposed knowledge, if it was such a 'WIN', where were the follow-up raids? You did say you did this for the community. It's amazin' that someone does somethin' once or maybe twice for the community, and it's this amazin' endeavor. People do the same thing better, faster and when they stop, they get proverbially **** on.
Additionally, no nukes or shivans or 'gimmicks' o' any sort were used at the regularly scheduled blueside raids. So, not to take that away from you, but that doesn't really mean anythin'.
Finally, the reason they are posted on the boards is to let members o' the community know they are bein' done and that they can partake if they so choose to. The only thing they have to do is show up and listen to/follow some simple directions. It's not posted to stroke the leaders' egos. And it must be doin' somethin' right because we've had people from other servers ask us about how they were bein' run. Clearly that's a sign o' senseless ego-strokin'.

Chins up, Champions! Raids fail and there are always some challenges to grow from. And for those that haven't seen my no retreat raid I hope you'll grace us with your support and participation when I start them after the New Year. And to be clear, it's something I intended to do anyways and IS NOT part of any "OH, WE'RE GONNA SHOW THEM" drama type B.S. Those that know me already know that's not my style. The 'no exit' strategy (I call Gulliver's Reign) was done long before this with the assistance of Cobalt (Targeting), Force (lead tank team) and many other great community players. We'll do them again soon as a community.
