Rikti ship raid question.

So.. I needs me some vanguard merits! It looks like the best way to do this is the ship raid. Is this something that is a zone event, like the invasions, or do you just need enough people to take down the pylons?

You need enough people to take down the pylons. It's been done with as few as two people, but in practice, it works best if you've got at least two full teams working on it

Some servers have regular raids and many also raid the mothership after doing a Hami raid in the Hive. Check in the server forums to see if anything is listed. If not it is a good place to start gathering interest.

The two raids I've been on I've just stumbled across. If you are in RWZ and one is forming up, give a shout on one or two of the global channels you use. Hopefully someone else will do the same and you can hop in regardless of where you are.

Pylons are cake once you get moving around. The ship is lag lag lag. But worth it if you're making the costume. Freaky face parts FTW.

Most important piece of advice on your first ship raid:

When you first get on the ship, people will be planting bombs on the walls inside little hatches. Stay against the wall and away from the openings. When the bombs blow up they have enough force to kill almost anyone.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I think a lot of people might call it a 'zone event', since it's outdoors and is better with multiple teams. However, it is entirely triggered/initiated by the players. Organize some teams and start trashing pylons. Ideally, you want a leader who has done it before giving directions.

I think most servers have mothership raids occur on a regular schedule. I know Infinity does. You should post in the section for your server and find out if there is a global channel where the raids are announced.

One important thing to mention is that you need three bombs set on the mothership to spawn U'Kon Gr'ai, a giant monster. Since teams can only set one bomb per every thirty minutes, that generally requires three teams to pull off.

That's not entirely accurate. While most servers' mothership raids seemingly run as you suggest, with people slowly working their way towards the bowl of the mothership once the shield goes down, not all servers do. I've lead weekly Rikti mothership raids on the Champion server for the past year, and I have everyone immediately dive into the mothership's bowl once the shield goes boom, with the exception of one member from each team who places a bomb.

Not sure what server you are on, but Protector has at least 1 ship raid every Wednesaday, often 2. They begin recruiting about 7:45pm est with the raid beginning at 8. You can almost always find a spot on teams, we most often have 4 or more full teams for a raid. You can expect to get somewhere about 300-500 merits for a run.

Absolutely true. However, a "team" can be as few as one person or as many as eight. By using Eye of the Magus and Elusive Mind accolades simultaneously, my scrapper can easily plant a bomb solo.

And.. worst case scenario, just get yourself to the bomb, and even if you die, you can still activate it by clicking on Interact on your Target>Action menu, even while dead.

That also works for objectives in missions. Even if you are dead, you can still click things. It can make those repetitive "click 4 at once" missions in DrQ much quicker. Instead of clearing the room to free up the clickie, just suicide on top of it, then click when prompted by the team.

Sidenote tip#2: If you die in the Shadow Shard, you'll return directly to the spot you died if you "Go to Base" and click on your blue portal. If you are in a mission, you'll return to the mission door. This works on any other zone that doesn't have a beacon as well, including the Sewers, Abandoned Sewers, The Tunnels in the Hollows, PvP and Hami zones.

There is a timer on planting bombs. If you plant yours early enough, you can plant a second toward the end of the raid. Can't spawn Ukon twice, but you can get credit for two bombs per team per raid if you time it right.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the timing on this. I tried searching for the older post describing the technique, but my search fu is really pathetic.

For some reason, I think it used to be 15 minutes, but now it's 30 minutes, which is almost the standard length of a raid as well. If you are the first one to plant your bomb, it's likely the shield will go back up shortly after you are allowed to click your second bomb.

Back when the requirement was 25 bombs, that could be useful, but not really anymore. Since you have to defeat the boss 10 times for a badge, you'll have to participate in at least 10 raids anyway, so why not just get your 1 bomb each time to make the new requirement of only 10? There isn't any benefit to getting 2.

Interestingly, something like this also works in other zones. I have a marketeering character who lives in the Wentworths in Steel Canyon. When I need to drop something in the base, I use my base teleporter. When I exit the base, I return to the exact spot in Wentworths that I left from. There may be something handled differently for the base teleport power.

Also:
1) Since it's by team, if you get one solo, then join a team, you can get another.
2) The check for a valid click used to only occur when you first click. If you can SYNCHRONIZE multiple people, and click multiple bombs before the clickie progress bar completes, you can get multiple bomb credits on one team. I'm not sure if this still works as I have not tried it in a long time, but it used to.

That's how the base teleporter always works. If you leave the base by the main portal, it always returns you to where you activated it (which can be handy).

Dec out.
