Dear Dev Overlords: A "Temporary" Issue.
I have to agree. The temp power recipes are dropping way too frequently for my liking.

did we really need yet another thread about this?
I don't know whether we needed another one or not, but I like that Cannuck's style and I agree that the temp powers drop too often, clogging my arteries, and preventing me from getting better drops.
Of course, that may have been their plan all along -- to drown you in Dollar Store gifts so that you might not notice less gifts from Sharper Image.

On some characters I've been deleting those drops left and right trying to keep my inventory clear. On others I like having as many temps as I can get my hands on. Ideally I'd like to see a separate inventory for temporary power recipes or just have them drop as fully formed powers without the need to craft anything.
Gadget recipes ate my baby!

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Now for my interest in these recipes I do not have a problem with the drop rate. I don't get nearly enough Recovery Serums.
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Plan 2 .. Mission is over. I have 4 new gadget recipes I don't need and at this point every character I own has them as well thanks to the new email system. I pass near a store on way to next mission .. stop briefly and sell gadget BACK to NC Soft for 1000L, 2000L or whatever. Slots free up and I am off to look for new and better recipes. :-D

This happens roughly once every two missions, sometimes once every mission. Yes, I can turn off the prompt, but given the fact that I'm deleting things way more frequently now, I prefer to have the warning just in case. It's a minor nuisance, but a nuisance nonetheless. I won't be climbing any clock towers with high powered rifles any day soon because of it, but it certainly doesn't make me any happier either. A multi-select option in the recipe tray would help.
I see a few problems with the temp powers as is, common recipes in particular:
- There is a stark contrast between the new ones and the old ones. By and large, the old set of Invention powers give less bang for your buck. They are generally single target melee attacks with passable damage and a tendency to use salvage that is on the expensive side. As a result, the new powers get crafted and used, while the old ones are vendor fodder. This wouldn't be such a problem except that they are dropping considerably more often.
- Unless the temp power being created is used as part of an attack chain, they are generally not used at a rate that allows them to be exhausted by the time that the recipe next drops. This creates a backlog of recipes in your tray that are essentially useless.
- The temp powers often compare unfavourably to powers in a character's powersets at higher levels. Some are ok, filling holes in a character's abilities by adding a decent debuff or a moderate ranged AoE, but a lot of them (again, especially the older ones) are just not worthwhile.
When you're on a team that's plowing through missions, recipes flow like water, and it sucks having to stop mid mission to clear out your trays because the temps have filled it up. I feel the solution is to cut the drop rate. Not back to where it was, because then the temps would be so rare as to be hoarded, but somewhere less than where it is. I would honestly aim for a rate that roughly nets a player playing at +0/x2 one temp per two missions. Not so rare as to be nonexistant, but also not so common as to be annoying.

As a citizen of Paragon City, it has been my pleasure to protect and serve at all levels of the hierarchy, always aware that without the citizens of Paragon, we simply would not have work.
Recently, a spate of...shall we call it junk mail, has arrived not in Gleemail (those pesky RMTers are elsewhere) and not in my private channels, but rather in the form of rewards from the foes we encounter in our travails.
I speak, of course, of the rash of new gadgets that have been flooding our pockets for the past while.
Allow me to be clear. I love new gadgets and encourage their production, but when is too much clearly enough? Sure, I can use a Plasmatic Taser...if I'm too bored to Levitate the offending victim 60 feet off the ground. The Resuscitator has proven invaluable when dealing with a group of gung-ho strangers. Jet packs are always welcome, especially for those without the ability to travel vertically.
Still...it seems like there is too much of a good thing here? When, after adventuring deep in Cimerora or Grandville, I return with a pocket full of gadgets I have already created and crafted...a problem arises. Doubly so when the Black Market and Wentworth's simply will not barter these items due to their increased occurences.
Far be it from me to ask for less of something, but could the gadgeteers creating these items perhaps slow their circulation just a bit? Just a teensy, weensy bit? You know there's an issue when vendors roll their eyes when you show them another Envenomed Dagger.
What to do? These items are so common as to make the various costume recipes seem as a distant El Dorado, and we've all collected those abundantly in the past.
The solution is twofold:
i)Slightly reduced production of gadgets. Those gadgets which heroes and villains aspire to will be available through the Markets and other channels, their increased value giving players a reason to trade them or sell them;
ii)Consider setting some of these gadgets for release by security level or threat level, much as the Power Analyzer scanners are distributed. A jetpack is much more useful, for example, before one's physical fitness requirements are complete and a travel power has been obtained. Tasers are always useful, if only for their 'cleanliness' in dealing with threats;
iii)Nemesis ponies for all of us, the angry mob is forming as we speak in hopes of new Going Rogue info.
