AE ticket revamp
Have you ever used the gold random ticket roll on a consistent basis ?
|
Regardless of what I get the drops are all free. I didn't spend a single inf to get them. It's all inf in my pocket.
The tickets are free ergo the drops from trading in the tickets are free.
I'm not one of those twisted little individuals that gets his panties in a bunch over how many imaginary tickets it takes to get imaginary loot to sell for imaginary money.
Tickets, merits, recipes, salvage, enhancements, inspirations all drop for free and regardless of what I ultimately end up selling them for, I still have more than when I started. (Actually I should say it's regardless of what someone ends up paying for them because I never sell anything on the market for more than 1 inf)
I know the difference between a make believe fun time game and reality.

I did NOT make enough influence during that time at wents to purchase a LoTG +rech, so if I had been trying to farm for the cash, I may have needed even more in-game time to get it. Unless I got a lucky purple drop, which can randomly happen, but is not predictable in any way. So the question I ask you is how many tickets do I need to get a LoTG +rech?
12K, 24K, 124K ? How many hours would it take to get that many tickets ? 18-20 hours ?
The answer is; that I will spend the next several months in AE "hoping" for one to drop, OR buying and selling garbage until I get the influence to outright purchase one. I would rather go with a predictable method like merits.

My only "Real" choice is Merits.

The bottom line is that the ticket reward system is not "broken" really. Perhaps the real underlying concern is that there are enough people in the game that "play the market" who dont want anyone touching their precious "money-maker". While casual players like myself that are struggling to "outfit" a few toons and could care not a wit for how much influence we have are slowly being moved into the "farming" herd with everyone else. More availablility for recipes will lower prices and that is a "good" thing to me. I am sure there those that would be on the other side of that fence.

Yet you feel offended that some of us think there could be improvements to this "made-up" fun game that we all play and that we must be "out-of-touch" with reality for even suggesting an improvement. |
I just don't see changing the ticket system as suggested as an improvement. We have a better chance of retaining customers if we can lure players out of the AE where they can see everything else the game has to offer. The longer they subscribe the more money the game makes. The more money the game makes, the longer I get to play.
Hi:
The problem I see with AE is that it fails to produce or have a good reward system. |
MA's reward system is ASTRONOMICALLY better and more efficient than anything the rest of the game has to offer.

This is true. When you run Radio missions, TF, Story Arcs you also get recipes and salvage dropping all throughout your playtime and its also Random and FREE. The rate of accrual for these random drops are probably just as profitable as AE missions.
|
I can ticket cap an MA map in less than 30 minutes, roll bronzes and reliably make 100 million inf on the result. I've done this day after day, week after week for several months.
No other gameplay option aside from pure marketeering delivers that level of profitability for such a small time investment.
/edit
in an effort to leaven my disdain with education, here's why MA pwnz everything else you can do:
tickets are nothing but concentrated drop potential.
if you run a mission that potential is spread between generic recipes, salvage & IO recipes.
in MA you can focus ALL of that drop 'energy' on the most valuable payoff, which is set IOs.
Furthermore, you can pick your level range.
MA > everything else for earning power.

Ticket-capping in 30 mins is not something I have ever seen done. I would be hard pressed to do so in 3 hours, but gonna take one of my better farmers out for a spin soon.

This doesnt sound like "normal" gameplay. Nor does it sound like something most players are capable of doing, but I will take for granted your voracity and see whether I can come close to the numbers you have indicated.

you misunderstood what goat said. he means he hit the ticket cap for the mission. then he random rolls bronze rolls, sells and makes profit. that is very easy.
|
That makes much more sense then. Was trying to wrap my head around 9K+ tickets in 30 min. My bad !
Still not convinced on the 100million part, unless he meant 100 million each play session.
That is something I have done in normal missions with lucky purple drops or hard-to-buy IOs, but NOT on any kind of regularity.
If you can make 100million every 2-3 hours with regularity off tickets, then that is saying something. But this has not been my experience with buying random rolls. The vast majority of "Bronze" rolls are crap and dont sell for much, if anything. Silver Rolls seem more impressive to me, but even so, the last 10 silver recipes that I sold didnt even net 10million and took 3 days to sell. Thats not very good IMO.

hehe, remember comm officers? ticket cap in 5 mins. nothing like watching 2 fire/psy doms tanking and obliterating an entire drek map in 3 mins.

that's 20 35-39 bronze rolls.
Most of them will be junk, the % varies slightly- either slightly more than half or slightly less than half.
Delete the junk, craft and sell the good stuff.
I've never made less than 50 million doing this, that's my worse result. 100 million is what I expect to get when I roll, and I'll sometimes exceed that.
I've been doing it long enough now to be sure it's not some epic fluke of good luck.
The vast majority of "Bronze" rolls are crap and dont sell for much, if anything. |
And irrelevant anyway since it only takes 1 good recipe to validate a run.
That's why you roll a lot of tickets at once. You're bound to get a couple of very valuable recipes.
Silver Rolls seem more impressive to me, but even so, the last 10 silver recipes that I sold didnt even net 10million and took 3 days to sell. Thats not very good IMO. |
Silver recipes would have to deliver a much higher price point than they do to justify the ticket cost.

I have a map I like, I run it a few times a week and make a ton of inf.
One of my 'farmers' is an ar/dev blaster with a far from optimized build- if he can do it "most players" certainly can.

Ya I do gold rolls with my tickets i hate getting junk by the butt load and a gold roll is the same as a random merits roll so much better recipes.
Besides what's the best you can get in bronze rolls KB IOs or something? I've been gone for a few months and they were selling for what 5 mill back then what's the going rate now?
you can pretty much get anything in bronze rolls. there is just alot more to go through. iv'e had regenerative tissue: +reg drop in bronze rolls. and with bronze roll's you are guaranteed to make money where silver and gold, it's a big chance.

I regularly hit recipes that sell for 50 million. Not every run, but often enough for it to bump up my average a good bit.

The idea that people are making "too much money" in AE is ridiculous...
There's a number of guides telling you how to take your level 1 to the market and walk out rich without going near AE. ANY amount of marketeering can make you rich without even trying. It's just boring as hell.
I have trouble telling the difference between 'farming' and regular missions that are boring. Anytime you do a mission for a reason other than the content, you're 'farming.'
The one thing I agree with Plainguy is the Elite Bosses and Archvillains. The regular AE missions don't need them, really. If you think xp farming SHOULD be prevented, removing those would prevent it. This would leave the onus on story content and allow soloers to do them without needing to round up a group. I personally enjoy the stories more when I get to read them myself without being hurried by impatient teammates or never having time to read the mission arc because the leader is zooming to the end.
If the devs feel a story is SO good they make it a dev's choice or hall of fame, then they can up the bosses.
I'm very happy with the ability to use tickets to get rare salvage. I HATE the market. Having an alternative to get salvage is great! They just need to give you the ability to get common salvage as well, and I'd never have to visit the market again, except for buying wings or whatnot.
And may I say that I'd prefer if missions granted wings and things? Or a particular mob always dropped them?
My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010

I use this all the time, but its best to know whether the salvage you need is tech or magic.
Need a luck charm, choose common magic salvage and pay 8 tickets till you get one.
Need a Clockwork winder, choose common tech salvage, etc
The last character that I outfitted with level 25 generic IOs needed maybe 1000 tickets to get everything IOed out. To make it even better, I used Biospark to craft them since he has most of the generic recipes memorized. Took maybe 2 million and some AE tickets.
AE tickets basically let me avoid the market for salvage if I so desire. But I usually only do so if the prices are unusually high. Like 100K for Brass (example).

buying salvage with tickets is an incredible waste of earning potential.
but to each their own.

Yes, but that only matters if you're going out of your way to be as efficient as possible with your money. You'll still get a boatload of inf in a game where inf isn't at all hard to come by.
Dec out.
I personally have no quarrels with the current ticket system..
However I wouldn't mind at all if they allowed us to purchase a recipe of our choice for a huge amount of tickets..
So let us carry more tickets, and give us the option to purchase what we want for a large sum.. Doesn't really hurt anyone, but should benefit many.
The more you make available for tickets, the more you encourage exploit farming. Tickets should only be there to make up for the lack of drops you have in the AE.
Dec out.
The system is balanced. If someone insists on limiting his gaming experience to just the AE then he has to settle for random rewards with AE tickets. However if he wants to cherrypick his rewards he has to participate in the rest of the game and earn merits.
People who experience everything the game has to offer are more likely to stay as customers.
