Fire/Rad Corruptor sounds positively EVIL.
You get good ST, good AoE, and the nice AV hunting debuffs.
Dont take my word for it since I don't do AV soloing, but I like the potential of that combination. Probably would need to consider hover to keep big hitters off you.

FWIW stalkers get snipes in their APPs, and blasters can get LRM. Not sure either AT will meet your "solo AVs" requirement, though.
Don't forget Defenders! The original do it all AT.
Did you mean you wanted to solo AVs, or just that you'll be planning to run into a lot of them via TF/SFs?
A Fire/ Corr with Traps/Rad/Dark all sound fine for your needs. Alternatively a perma-dom Mind/Fire is a force of nature onto itself, and will make MoLRSF laughably easy.

You missed out mind, which has a snipe, good control via stuns and knock down, and a good nova. It does lack heavy AoE with only Psychic tornado and psychic wail (Nova).
I have a 50 paired with /NRG which I love. Haven't tried soloing AV's but there is little that I've struggled with. NRG gives you boost range and power boost which are great, as well as very good melee powers for when someone gets too close.
Fire/Rad Controller, Fire/Psi Dominator
As an alternative, if you prefer a more frenetic pace: Ice/Kin Corruptor.
Solo, you have up to 3 holds and a fast, brutal single target chain to make those spawns a joke. On a team you have Fulcrum Shift to make the whole game a joke.
It's not the best AoE, but it's decent and since Ice Storm and Blizzard both use the pet damage modifier so they deal the same base damage as the Blaster versions, only they have Scourge to boost that when things get hurt.
Capable of soloing AVs (because mine did with SOs) but requires a lot of work at it (you can debuff their damage fairly well, but the issue will be making yours stick).
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Illus/Storm. Only thing they're missing is sniping.
Rad/Sonic Defender pretty much suits that. Even with just SOs.
I tried one, but dislike the concept of screaming as a super power.
Why not Stalkers? Electric/WP or Electric/Ninja. Ninja will give more power options, as you can skip some of the toys if wanted.
Then you can grab a blast, snipe, ranged AOE (Mu) or a Hold (soul).

I take exception to the /dark not being able to do stuff to AVs. Dark Miasma is *huge* against AVs. Autohit -res in Tar Patch that is easily made permanent, -tohit in huge enough numbers that it actually counts against AVs, as well as two sources of -regen, being Twilight Grasp for sustainable amounts, and Howling Twilight for huge doses here and there (autohit, no less). Don't forget -damage and resistances to a lot of the more exotic damage types, defense (albeit minor) and a pet to help with aggro issues. A pet which also happens to debuff tohit as well as debuff regen with it's own TG.
A build going near the ranged softcap will find little to no troubles with AVs. Corruptors have higher damage in trade for lesser debuffs, but the debuffs are still strong enough to do their work. Plus, Scourge is very handy against AVs. So a Fire/Dark corruptor will do wonders against them. Plus Rain of Fire and Tar Patch are practically made for each other, with Fearsome Stare shutting down alphas while you set up the melting. So you have good AoE damage, good ST damage, good mitigation, a Snipe, heals, just about everything you want. And that's not even taking into account epic power pools. Good stuff, if you ask me.

I agree that fire/dark is good stuff. I have never had more fun on a character than on my fire/dark. I am considering running for president of the fire/dark fan club. That being said, I have trouble envisioning a fire/dark taking on an average AV solo. In a group, I feel like I have a lot to contribute, but solo, I still have trouble with AV's and Heroes as Elite Bosses running at +1/x8.

Fire or Archery are the all around best "blasting" primaries. (IMO) They both have very good single target and aoe damage. And little else. (no real secondary effects to speak of, though archery IS more accurate out of the shot, fire's dots IMO prove more useful in the end game.)
Fire matures fast. Archery doesn't become the aoe powerhouse until you get ROA. (34, to get and fully slot it)
Secondarys. IMO, the best all arounder is Rad. It gets all its key debuff eairly. It covers the whole spectrum of debuffs you'll need (-def -res -toohit -dmg and slows) and has a great control power, sweet buff, fallout...which is fun, and a heal to top your health off. (i don't care much for chocking cloud, but others swear by it..)
A fire/rad will be an all purporse char. your looking for. Having solid AoE, Single target, and snipe if you so chose (i don't take it) It's debuffs mixed with a patron shield give it some nice defence, and the buff/debuffs are a god send to any team.
I'd also like to point out it's a fairly common build and you'll see ALOT of them running around. (that may or may not be a turnoff.)
But, frankly, most Corruptors can be made this way, as they are a hybried of blasters and defenders... they can grow into impressive powerhouses. I love my, less common, but very fun to play AR/Cold corr. He's more a teamer then soloer. Exellent AoE damage, top notch debuffs and buffs, and i've not really seen any other ones running around. LOL (and i've started a DP/Rad. Which i've yet to see outside of myself. seems all the DP people are DP/Traps. *shrug*)

So Im looking for a bit of a swiss army knife character.
For better or worse I like ranged, snipes, good solo, good team, with the end possibility of going against AV's. I want good single target and decent AOE. So, what comes closest to my goals from the above Choices. Which are fun from the start? Which are great, but not so good until the later lvls? |

Should start off fairly quick. You'll be a damage powerhouse throughout with gobs of both AoE and ST damage, but early on you'll be pretty squishy, so soloing as you level will be more difficult (but certainly still doable). As the build matures and you start building up ranged defense, you'll get tougher and tougher. Soloing archvillains will definitely be possible once you hit 50, and possibly before then depending on the build you use, and whether you're willing to use inspirations.

Dual Pistols may not have a snipe, but it has some rather nice powers. Supressive Fire is dang handy for example. Piercing Shot (I think) is a nice snipe like attack which can potentially hit multiple foes. And without an interrupt period to boot. It's got some solid AOE, as well as good single target damage.
That, and it brings the sexy back.

I'd go with a fire/mental hoverblaster with softcapped ranged defense. If you put the money in (and it'll be a lot), it can meet every one of your requirements.

My suggestion is a Corruptor or Defender. They're a lot more survivable than Blasters and their debuffs make them better AV soloists. A Fire / Dark, Fire / Rad, or Fire / Traps Corruptor would probably be the best, though a Rad / Sonic Defender is also going to be great at everything but AoEs.
Of course if you just want to totally obliterate things, make a Bots / Traps MM.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned MM's Bots/Traps, considering how well they can solo AV/GM, and have decent AoE farming capabilities. Add to the fact they're easier to softcap with and have decent mez protection from protector bots. Tankerminds seem to be able to take alpha's just as well as tanker, especially with seeker drones.
Granted, they're not as team friendly considering that /Traps has "set-up" time. But I do like the Solo'ness of this type of MM.
Ill/Rad troller. Enjoyable levelling. Once you hit 50 you're a solid toon with a ton* of options for IO slotting. Every TF team wants /rad and Ill/ with ridiculous recharge embarasses the tank.
Was my first kitted out toon, and still miles ahead of any other in terms of sheer utility and enjoyability.

So that is a tall order and no character can fill it perfectly. That being said Im limited to a couple sets. Fire, Energy, Archery, Electric, Dark, Radiation for blast or assault sets. These all have a snipe.
Ill eliminate Energy as its AOE is not what Im looking for (have a lvl 50 blaster, I love him, but want a more team friendly AOE). Electric seems to lack punch in the single target blast or Assault sets, so its gone. Radiation is too varied in its AOE attacks for me, so its gone.
I have a lvl 50 archer and find it great, but too slow for me for this poject. While I have always wanted to like Dark, I have found it weak both single and AOE, so out.
So Im left with the perrenial favorite fire Blast or Assault. Either will give me a snipe, powerful single and multi target attacks.
So that leaves me with a Corrupter, Blaster or Dominator as my choices. (I have a Fire/Rad troller, and dont find it blasty enough).
Leaving
Blaster: Fire/Mental or Ice. Gives me mitigation, some control outside chance at AV's maybe.
Dominator: Just started playing them, fun AT. Earth or Plant/Fire. Good control, strong damage. Seems a stretch for AV's though fast for every other criteria.
Corrupter: Fire/Traps, Rad or Dark. Seems traps can do it all, maybe Rad though I dont care for it much and Dark which seems the least AV capable, but great for the rest.
So, what comes closest to my goals from the above Choices. Which are fun from the start? Which are great, but not so good until the later lvls?
Anyway. Im thinking fun from the start to finish is Fire/Dark, but lacking in AV soloing. The Fire/Traps seems the strongest choice, but I have no experience with it. The blaster seems a distant third actually.
Last question is which is cheapest to build strongly?
