Lucard nodded to Jack and looked at Elizabeth. "The Ghost of Death has left us for a while. She left that note after we had a row about her actions during the attack, her attitude and how she doesnt deserve to be a Templar, her attitude does not help this Court, and i hope she chnges it before she returns". Lucard's voice was steady, but a small hint of emotion showed how he upset he was at having driven off an ally he could truely go toe to toe with in an arguement.

Darkleaf returned Shannon's mischievous smile as they followed Lucard to Elizabeth's room, she whispered to the other fae, "It's sometimes fun if they don't know you're there, can find out all kinds of things!".

On reaching the Countesses room Darkleaf stayed by the door for a moment, but then remembered that she was supposed to be fetching Shannon to see Elizabeth anyway, so rushed in with her.

Without listening or waiting to hear what Lucard was saying, and looking a little panicked she launched straight in with "Miss Elizabeth? I.. I bought you Shannon like you asked. Sorry it took so long, but there were these big crashing noises and tinkling noises and stuff so I thought I'd go and check what it was all about and Shannon came with me just in case something bad were happening, but instead we found a Lucard shaped hole in Ghost of Death's wall and all her stuff thrown about and things and then we followed him here!" she takes a breath, standing and waiting, looking a little unsure.

Listening to Darkleaf brought a small smile to Elizabeth her lips... The Fae could be so excited about even the most mondane things. She turned to face Shannon... "Shannon... I wanted you to take a look at the Ghost of Death and every other templar... and tell me if they are all going to survive... eh... be well! Can you do that?"

Shannon looked at the countess... then at Lucard and Jack... "Shannon thinks everyone here will be ok for the near future but miss Elizabeth and the man in the pretty hat are always hard to read. And miss Jemma that I could see in her room Shannon sees like strange. Liek she shouldn't be here. But she is Ghost of Death. So Shannon cannot say! Not sure... Shannon sorry!", she seemed to ramble on.

Elizabeth nodded... "I understand Shannon. At least nothing will change with those here in the room. Try and check the other templars too will you!?" She pointed from the one Fae to the other... "You little ones are more important for this court then many realise. I want you two too take good care of each other. Is that understood?!"

She looked directly at Darkleaf... "And be careful with that curiousity... It is a dangerous attribute to one's personality! Don't you think, Darkleaf?!"

Darkleaf fidgets a little, looking down at the floor then looking back up at Elizabeth. "Well," she pauses for a moment, biting her lip in a thoughtful manner, "I suppose it could be dangerous, but you said that this was a safe place and that no one would hurt me, but I've overheard all kinds of conversations and it doesn't seem that safe a place to me!"

She smiles impishly yet innocently, "But if they don't see me I'll be okay! And Mr Lucard said that I should keep what I hear to myself and not go talking about it and I've not!" Looking thoughtful again, "I'm not dangerous Miss Elizabeth!"

"I thought you heard much over the past weeks... Whatever Lucard might have said, if there is something that seems most important for me to know I expect you to come tell me. Alone if need be!", she gave the Fae a determined but caring look. "I hope you understand what kind of things I may need to know, and what not!?"

Elizabeth stood up and adressed Lucard and Jack... "Today we where almost in a big fight. Adam went completly berserk. The defences at the gate where hardly enough to slow him down. I want them better!", she pointed down the area's with the problems... "Any idea's?"

Suddenly he walked straight across the dancefloor to the Storage lockers, gently lowering his wife so she was standing he opened the Nighthunters Storage area, the one they used to keep their magically protected uniforms in, reaching in he shuffled through the clothes for a second before pulling out a large black and white cloak.

He placed it over Jemmas shoulders and wrapped it around her, smiling as he did.
He did all of this without saying a word, it was if he was in a daze, a delayed reaction to the horror he himself had caused.
He looked down at his hand, black veins were bulging from it, shaking slightly.

Though Adam was indeed powerful the sheer amount of energy he had used in such a short amount of time and the way in which he had used it had severely drained him.
Usually he had perfect control over his abilities but in his fury he had wasted much energy, slowly causing him to lose his strength, and so to make up for it he had taken other sources of energy.
Flying through the clouds he absorbed the energy from the towns and citys he had past, little bits here and there, causing nothing more than a flicker to their lights, their televisions or even their cars but accumulating within Adam to fuel his rage.

Adam needed to meditate for a few hours every day to keep his own energy flowing and pure, but what he had absorbed while flying had corrupted his own life energy, luckily for him he had expelled much of it in his short battle with Sword, but there was still enough to cause him trouble.

His vision began to blur as his smile faded, he fell down hard onto one knee before collapsing sideways on to the floor, drifting into unconciousness, his last thought was that of happiness that his family was safe.
Misty watched over her parents and smiled she was so full of joy, she had her family back. She looked over at the now human Jemma with a feeling of confussion. How had Jemma become human and why did she still sence her spirit? Misty got another cloak from the lockers and made a pillow for her father then she grabed a nearby chair to watch over them so they could sleep

+++Meanwhile back at Castle Bathory+++

General Darkheart floated into the office of the Countess with a grim look on her face.

"Excuse me Countess but I have a Damage report for you. Theres alot of Damage to the outside out side of the castle caused by what seems high powered lazers, powerful grenades and incendiary bombs. As well as damage caused by a powerful lightning strike. I have my troops tackling the fires and clearing the front door but it will take alot of rebuilding. My men and I were unable to get to the attakers in time. They have appeared to have vanished for now."

She placed a piece of paper on the desk

"This is the exact details of the damage to the castle. They seem to have hit us hard and fast and run. I take it they took something from us?"

I have had my eyes opened... and without the people I love I would of never of gained my wings...

Elizabeth took the report and went over it... "Yes... they took what seemed to be the split-away human half of the Ghost of Death. I didn't even knew she had it. She is regenerating her powers now... and as faul as I remember her."

She compaired the report to the security schematics she had from Green Tinker and even those made by Alexia Morgan... the same person that seemed to be responsable for a good part of the damage done now. "Lasers and grenades... Alex was with Adam!", she whispered. The thought alone made her muscles tighten and her heart screaming for revenge. Deep cuts where made in her desk by her clawlike nails.

Without looking up she made her priorities... "The shield still holds... I will extend it to make the door entrance smaller... Sarah, let your men clean up the hallway of debry. Jack, I want some of the pack to post in the hall upstairs as permanent guard."

She looked back at Darkleaf... "Can you replace the broken doors with a fence of thorned wood Darkleaf?"

"Yes Countess, My Men are already on the case the fires started by the lightning are still burning but under control we will have them out soon. The fires caused by the incendiary bombs how ever are causing a bit more hassle do we have any ice types in the Court?" General Darkheart said keeping a curious eye on the scratches in the desk and noted down the damage in her Damage log then looked at the Countess for a responce.

Darkleaf looks up from apparently studying the floor, shuffling her feet a little, "Uhm, yes Miss Elizabeth! It shouldn't be too much of a problem to coax some thorny poisonous roots from the ground there, maybe even some large thorny vines as well!" she giggles a little, "They'd wrap around any would be intruders, holding them in place until someone got there to talk to them, or until they died.." Her eyes sparkled mischievously, "Or I could ask them to rip anyone to bits that comes near them whilst slowly poisoning them to death, it would make nice fertilizer for more thorny vines, and I could stick their heads on top of the vines!" She smiles impishly, yet looks somehow still totally innocent, as if what she's just said is the most natural thing in the world... nothing wrong with it whatsoever in her mind.

+++Outside Castle Bathory+++

A small figure dressed in pale blue and white clothing with little fairy wings looks at the fire and smoke coming from Castle Bathory. "They must be warm in there. I will help cool them off." the little fairy thought to herself she flew up so she could see the flames. She waved her arms and muttered a few words and a dome of ice covered the flames and held until the flames inside were snuffed out. The little fairy giggled and landed on the roof of the castle watching the ghosts below clearing the door to the castle. "Funny looking peoples" The fairy decided to herself. She took the lollypop stick from her mouth and looked at it and put it back in her mouth and continued to watch.

One of the ghost soliders that was helping fight the fire spoke to someone on his radio that someone had put the fire out and was now sitting on the roof watching.

+++Inside Castle Bathory+++

The soliders report came in on General Darkearts radio earpiece. "Countess it appears someone has put the fire out with Ice. They are currently sat on the roof of the castle watching us" General Darkheart said with a puzzled look on her face.

Jemma slid her back down the lockers until she was on the floor. She raised both of her knees close to her chest, and didn't raise her head once.

She gave the people around her a faint 'Thanks'.

She was drowned in guilt, this happened because of her. Her attitude had landed Sword and early death, and her husband an overload. The Countess always told her not to lose control.

Minutes went past as Jemma dragged Adam's lifeless body towards hers. She propped his back against the wall, and allowed him to rest his head on her shoulder.

"I'm so sorry...” After this Jemma quickly broke down, she hated herself right now. She was human, she didn't have any control over the Nether and she even caused two deaths.

Through all the chaos, Jemma suddenly smiled, tears still flooding her face.

"We're finally all together." She stopped, taking a breath, still smiling as though she had won the lottery.

"I had only foreseen my death... I didn't realise how much good would come of it."

She slowly stood up, shaking she made her way towards Alex, wrapping her arms around her.

"Alex, I knew I taught you well." She let out a quick giggle; her tears were slowly drying up.

"I love you, so much. Thank you."

Jemma kept the embrace for another few minutes, also thanking Alex's soon to be husband, before turning her gaze to Adam.

~

Meanwhile…

As Bathory was dealing with the current situation, a cold, emotionless, wind-like whisper went through her head. It was her Templar.

“I want Darkheart to take over until I return. I promise I will regain control of my powers again.”

At the exact same time the voice whispered to Bathory, Ghost was also speaking to Darkheart.

“Don’t make the same mistake as me… With this title, comes great responsibility.”

"Understood Countess" General Darkheart replied. She turned her back and walked into the corner of the office and spoke back into her radio "Capture but do not harm. I repeat capture but do not harm is that clear." "Yes Sir!" The solider replied.

+++Outside the Castle+++

The little fairy was still watching the ghosts down below. Unknown to the fairy two special forces members were watching the fairy. The special forces men formulated a plan and both nodded, they each pulled out a grenade and threw it towards the fairy. The fairy was suddenly covered in sticky webs then there was a bang and a bright flash and the fairy slumped over. The special forces men high fived each other and ran over to the fairy. They tied her hands and feet and one picked her up and carried her over his shoulder. They climbed off the roof and headed into the now cleared enteryway into the castle.

Darkleaf -had- been on her way to grow the vines as requested, but on seeing the special forces men walking past her with what looked like a fae over one of their shoulders she decided to investigate. On her way to the dungeons she bumped in to Miss Elizabeth, "Where are did they take that creature from the roof?" she enquired, "To the dungeons I think Miss Elizabeth!"

On reaching the dungeons she cautiously crept up to the bars and peered through. At first she couldn't see anything due to the darkness of the interior, but after a moment she spotted the pale white and blue winged fae sat at the back of the cell. She studied it for a moment, wondering what type of fairy it could be before cautiously saying, "Hello?"

Ol'Mama Fedele's place, Brooklyn, New York..

Big Game's stay at home had been a frustrating experience. He fully expected once he'd shown his face around the neighborhood whoever had been bumping off his old lovers and associates would make their move. However despite all his efforts to practically present him self on a platter had been in vain, and he started to wonder if the murderer's original intent was merely to keep him out of the way for awhile.

Nah that don't make sense. Killing them people like that was far too much effort just to get me outta the way. Somebody planned to try claim my head, but some thing has scuppered their plans. A rival bounty hunter maybe? The question is do I hang about to keep an eye on Mama, or do I head back to the Isles?...

"Oh! Oh no! It's horrible. Antonio come see."

Big Game broke his train of thought and looked over to his Mother who was watching the television with a look of horror on her face.

"Mama what's up?" 'Game asked as he sat himself down next to the little Italian woman.

"It's that Paragon City again on the news. A giant robot just attacked a school. I can't understand how in a city overrun with superheroes that things like that can still happen."

Big Game looked at the TV, and was genuinely surprised to see the custom Kronos Titan emblazoned with Bathory's livery.

"Maybe it's because them superheroes just don't have it in them to finish a job properly."

Ol'Mama Fedele talked without turning away from the screen.

"Society is too soft on it's monsters. It's all about rehabilitation and protecting civil rights rather than punishment these days. Personally If I was standing in front of whoever controls that robot I'd given them the hiding of their life, and make sure they feel every bit of hurt those poor children suffered."

Big Game quickly dismissed the image of his Mother wielding a frying pan, and battering Elizabeth Bathory into a bloody pulp out of his mind.

"Maybe you're right Mama. Problem is all those with the guts to deal with problems properly are too selfish or wrapped up in their own affairs."

Ol'Mama Fedele sighed. "That's why the truly evil people in the world will continue to run amok, and trample on everybody be they righteous or self absorbed."

Big Game thought about his Mother's words, and he could clearly see her point. Bathory's Open Season had not discriminated against the morally abundant like Pious and his Nighthunters, or the morally bankrupt like himself. Pious and the Nighthunters had been actively battling Bathory's goons yet didn't seem to have the killer instinct to deal with the situation permanently. Meanwhile 'Game, and other like minded people such as the Corporation unfettered by hesitation to finish the job properly were just staying low, looking out for themselves, or putting all their efforts into making a fast buck.

As for himself he really wanted to end Bathory's Bounty. He'd even already devised a plan of attack, and started to assemble the equipment needed yet found himself lacking the motivation to just go do it. Perhaps he was expecting too much in waiting for his friends in the Corporation to commit to dealing with Bathory. He looked down at his beloved Mother and thought hard about all those who'd already died because of Bathory's bounty.

Screw it. Looks like my hunter has given up or is dead already. Mama should be safe. I oughta head back, and try give Aquis and the Corp a push. If they don't want to join the party... well I'm sure them Nighthunters will soak up a whole load of hurt for me.

Big Game got up, walked over to his room, and started to pack...

Prior to the attack.

Tomb sat in her hideout, hiding her injuries under her costume. She sat in a big, black leather chair, the kind any Bond villain would be proud of. In front of her were several computer banks and monitors, each manned by a technician.

Behind her three white boards were attached to the wall and each was covered in calculations, the first was purely financial figures, the second showed figures that dealt with those people who hunter monsters and demons, it showed over time these numbers slowly dwindling as such factors as mortality and retirement took effect.

The third board dealt with the Countess and her eating habits, a few guesses were made to how often she ate and how long she had lived, the low end guess put her personal fatalities in the upper hundreds, the numbers spiralled upwards, in the more grim cases the Countess would of been responsible for ‘eating’ several thousand people.

It was noted on the board that each of these kills could create a new vampire, that would kill just as often as the Countess, and each of these kills could create a vampire that would go on to create and kill.

The numbers eventually showed an apocalypse scenario with vampires ruling the Earth. Below it Tomb had written “We must avoid the current stalemate of the war, the Hunters have to be active and on the attack. They need something to force them to continue.”

“Boss?” Riggs her lieutenant asked from her side “It’s time...”

“Begin the operation, kidnap groups move out and remember your masks. Meatdoctors make sure your tools are sharp.” Tomb commanded as across the city sprung into action.
She sat head bowed and muttered softly to herself.
“Please forgive me.”

After the attack

Blade stood infront of the graves of those lost in the Titan machines attack. His silvatian armour shone brightly in the dawn light, the sun rising infront of him. Blade hadnt been able to sleep well since the incident, and he knew his friends had started to notice this in his behaviour. Blade looked over the graves, all of them adorned with flowers and pictures, the grieving having left the night before. Blade had placed a single, blue petal rose on each grave. Something he did for anyone lost because of being caught up in an event to do with him. He flapped his wings gently and looked towards the sunrise. He knew the Countess hadnt done this, but he knew she was the cause.

His body filling with rage towards the Countess, Blade made himself resolute for what was to come. He stood and watched the sunrise, vowing to remember it for those who now would never see another.

Nine Days After The Attack. Friday September 10th. Moth Cathedral.

Sister Altair Mary Stevens was cloaked in her cleric attire, sat on one of the benches in the church nave talking with the Reverend Pious Hunter who was also in his cleric garments. The two spoke peacefully, quietly and yet fervently.

"Paragon City CSI forensics have completed their crime scene investigation" Altair reported. "Scans and analysis of the robot's remains reveal mundane tech modifications, hyper compressed. Which suggests the culprits are technologically masterful but not exactly a genius level threat."

The long-haired nun stood up and unrolled a large blueprint detailing the system schematics of a Malta Kronos Titan and began tracing it with a finger. "Look here father" she continued. "Titans usually have built-in flamethrowers, a pack of sixteen gas swarm missiles, sixteen incendiary swarm missiles, sixteen explosive swarm missiles, anti-regeneration plasma blast cannons and sleep gas canisters. They are heavily armoured with reinforced steel and are capable of maximum mobility for stomping and rampaging."

"That's a lot of fire damage, let alone the gas holds" the priest commented, also getting up to look closely at the blueprints. "That explains why it flattened the building so effectively."

"Well like I said, the CSI team's tech analysis shows that the machine was also modified. These diagrams here highlight the attached hydrocutters. It's a device that uses intense water pressure to cut things, only this had blood fuelling it instead of water."

"That explains the bleeding" the priest added. "For a while I did considered the possibility of a person sat within the machine and piloting it, like you do. So to be honest, I'm a little relieved to hear it wasn't manned."

"Yeah... can, can I finish?"

"Sorry, continue" said Pious.

"The incendiary missiles were also modified, mainly to offload napalm. The sleep gas canisters too had been replaced with a mix of various poisons including chlorine, which actually showed up a lot in the wreckage. Now get this, forensics found one of the incendiary missiles still intact. During the disassembling, the team noticed that parts of the weapon looked distinctively alien. As in unusual, not extraterrestrial. They found a certain accelerator device used to rapidly mix air with incendiary agents. The patent on this new device belongs to a Weapons R&D company based in the Rogue Isles, called Ironclad Enigma Solutions and the company is owned by who? None other than the Lady Irene Margaret Sepulcher."

"Lady Irene" Pious repeated, recalling the name to memory. "That's the same name Detective Grayson reported owns Ocean Farm."

"The same frozen fish and seafood business where he found those icy warehouses" Altair added. "He reported encountering couriers ferrying the dead bodies of Saint John's victims to that same location."

"We have ourselves a new suspect"

"That we do Father" said Altair.

"We'll need a search running."

"It has already begun" she replied.

"Informed the police?"

"Two steps ahead of ya'"

"This means Bathory may slip down to suspect number two, with Malta at three" said Pious, thinking out loud. "How goes the warrant on her Castle?"

"To be honest with you Father, Longbow have no interest in requesting permission from Arachnos. Since the terror attack, Bathory's days have been numbered. The Ballista, Longbow's elite bosses are hot-headed heavy hitters with no vocabulary for negotiations. These tankers are tough enough to withstand direct hits from rocket launchers, and can dish out enough damage to take out the toughest brute Arachnos can throw at them, let alone Bathory's skinny zombies. The Court have always been locked in frequent skirmishes with Longbow in Cap Au Diable and often times Bathory and her ilk captures them, tortures them, and if they don't kill them, they drink or eat them. Longbow are a superpowered army forcefully occupying the Rogue Isles and when it comes to the Blood Countess, it's not just business for them, its personal. Father, I have reason to believe they are already preparing a strike. They've been very patient with us up until now, waiting for our leadership, for us to spearhead this thing, but now they think we're either stalling or wasting time. There's no denying it... they are going to take Castle Bathory, with or without us."

((Some time before Ocean Farm))

The device made a squealing noise as it span, jerking as it hit its limits, pulsing with lights as it began to spin back up its restraints...

Idly Tomb toyed with the Yoyo, using it more as something to do, rather than deriving any pleasure from it. She was dwarfed by the black leather chair, which sat throne like in the centre point of the room, one leg dangling over an arm of the chair, she looked through business reports.

She glanced up at an array of monitors and screens, before returning back to her reports, a second later she looked back up again.

“The ****?” she asked, dropping from the chair to walk closer to the screen.

On a screen a man dressed in a form hugging, sandy brown spandex suit, glances around quickly, he rolls forward, on another of the monitors, he scythes the legs out from under a guard, rolling and elbow dropping the burly security operative keeping him down. Rising to his feet his sprints off screen.

Tomb stared incredulously at the screen... it couldn’t be...

A flying kick takes down another security guard, another reaches for his gun only to fall twitching to the fall as a ribbon taser hits him.

No one would...

He paused at a pair of doors, pressing something to them and rolling along the wall.

Tomb turned as the doors exploded inwards, ears ringing she stares in open shock at the figure striding heroically into the room.

“Do’er of injustice, quiver now in fear, for justice is here for you! Tremble now at the might of Mister Mongoose!” he announced in a sing song voice.

Tomb’s mind flashed to all her current schemes, but.. .they hadn’t been rumbled yet... had they?

“Agent of C.H.A.O.S put up your hands and come quietly!” he announced staring her down with the patented mongoose stare.

“Sorry what? Who?” Tomb was still staring at the horror that is a man in spandex, without a cup.

“The Central Hierarchy for Outlaws, Anarchists and Shadowy-figures?” he seemed less sure of himself.

Tomb shook her head.

“Never heard of them.” She admitted

The man deflated.

“Oh... well sorry about all this... to the Mongoosecopter away!” with that said he sprinted away back the way he had came.

Tomb picked up her phone, and dialed a number into it.

“Hello? I’d like to buy some doors, please.”

The Taking of Castle Bathory: Harbingers of Peace

"Live recording, September 23, 8PM."

"Clear balls of water rolled off the rustling leaves like teardrops, each reflecting the bright moonlight before falling to the Earth. Healthy soil now under attack by heavy rain, left wet, soggy and muddy until a sudden and mysterious force enveloped the area. Where nothing once was now stood two curious figures, untouched, even by rain. I looked on while they stood among the trees, hidden in the shadows of Cap Au Diable, observing the ominous building adjacent.

"It was with a certain air of confidence and sure purpose that the man and woman crossed the road and approached the stone building. Despite the strong winds, the woman's fedora hat remained fashionably positioned over her eyes, her long dark trenchcoat fluttering in her stride. The man leading the march wore a brilliantly white shirt and skinny black tie which danced gloriously in the wind with each graceful step.

"As they reached the great oak doors of the great stone building, the pair exchanged a reassuring look, almost bracing themselves for what was to come. Two loud bangs echoed through the night as the man rasped his knuckles against the wooden doors. Quietly and with no intentions of leaving, they waiting, perched on the enemy's doorstep. Meanwhile, myself and the other allies lay in waiting should peace turn to war. Grayson"

A few hours after the two had been asked into the stone walls of the Gothic building, the great doors creaked open once again and out came the resplendent halo-stricken form of Pious Hunter, followed by the trenchcoat-clad Alena Corvas. Stood in the doorway was the the assassin referred to as Drew Firstblood. The three exchanged words before parting ways. "Priest!" came the voice of a Longbow Commander, in full red and white uniform. He had been perched across the street, blending in with the local Longbow patrol squad. "So how did it go?" he asked, leading the pair to a nearby Longbow carrier.

"Surprisingly well" Pious replied, climbing into helicopter. "For all the wrong reasons, this latest atrocity has united both the House of Bathory and the People of America under a common cause. By 9am tomorrow morning, Bathory's bounty on hunters will be called off... Open Season is over and the hunt for the St. Johns killer has begun. It seems you were right Commander, this Lady Irene Sepulcher could quite possibly be a distraction." Pious paused momentarily and turned a steel gaze to the Commander. His eyes blazing with burning determination. "Bathory has a new suspect" he continued, "...a youth called Tomb."

Somewhere between Paragon City and the Rogue Isles

The wall-screen showed Pious Hunter's head, the sound playing his voice so the room could here it. "Well, it seems we have found a little problem friends. This Tomb person is a serious threat to our plans. They must be dealt with. This cease-fire can not be allowed to continue. Ideas?" asked the head of the table, his shodowy figure outlines by the light of the screen.

"Kill Tomb!" One man cried. "No! Recruit her!" Another exclaimed.
As the yells and commotion grew, the head of T.R.I.N.N.I.T.Y. Corperation reviewed his options and the small amount of info they had on this Tomb. It was obvious she was trouble, but her skill at causing mischief may yet be of use.

He held up a hand and the room fell deathly silent. "Tomb is a secondary matter...the Plan can continue dispite her interferance. We must change tactics and quickly."

As he began to give instructions, men ran from the room to inform their departments, allies and commanders. When the room was empty except for a select few, The Head of the Corperation turned to the view screen. "oh, and one last thing, send the word out. T.R.I.N.N.I.T.Y wants to talk to Tomb. I'm sure she can find us"

Paragon Outskirts, Evening of the 24th

Three figures stood looking over the city, one in front and two flanking it like a sort of honour guard.
"So...it's over?"
"For now, dear. At least, for the majority of the players. Still... I have unfinished business. I need to find...someone. Or someones, to be precise-"
"You mean the Council, father."

Leon DeFeurard smiled faintly, leaning on his sword, eyes shifting to bring Lawrence into the corner of his vision.
"Very astute, lad," he chuckled, before looking over the city once more. "Yes...the so called Council of Ten. Ex, ten, whatever way they say it. My business is with them. The 'Lords and Ladies'," he added with a humourless little smirk. "I need to ask another favour of you tw-"
"Consider it done," Maria said quietly.
Leon laughed, at last, glancing around and grinning, teeth glinting in the moonlight.
"Time for checkmate. Check. And. Mate."

26th September 2010, NewCastle-Upon-Thyne, Castle Keep

It was not even a week ago when Elizabeth had left the official yearly meeting with the Council of X and already she called in an emergency gathering. Most of the Council didn’t move far from the meeting place though… England held many houses owned by Council members… and the history most of them had with the land made them linger a bit longer.

Though the Castle keep was open for the public during the day… the walls where inadequate to keep these vampire lords at bay during the night. The castle was rebuilt in stone during the reign of Henry II, between 1168 and 1178. In this time the keep and the curtain wall, with a gatehouse were added to the site. During the reign of King John (1207 - 1216) an aisled hall was built in the bailey and during the reign of Henry III between 1247 and 1250 a barbican - the Black Gate was added to the north gate. Just after the fall of the night a dark shape began to appear in mid air under the Black Gate. Slowly forming an oval patch… a patch from where Elizabeth Báthory appeared.

Waiting for her was her close friend Vlad III of Wallachia. He who was known as Dracula these days. “Welcome back Erzsébet… I dispatched the word to the others and they are already taking their places. Only the Primogen is indisposed… in such way that I couldn’t reach him in time.”

Elizabeth nodded… “It was short day to re-call all members… I didn’t expect all to manage to get back here. Not so soon.” Both their shapes started to shimmer and their bodies reshaped into a night mist. A mist that entered the cracks of the big wooden door and reformed inside.

There was a big table placed fort hem in the hall… Elizabeth nodded to all members there and took her seat at the head. She knew she had lost one vote in favour for her with the Primogen not available so her face was grim and unsure. Slowly she stood up again. “Gentlemen… and lady”, she said nodding to Akasha… “I come here before you to request a ‘cease-fire’ of the former agreed upon bounty in my jurisdiction.” Elizabeth looked around her and she saw some disturbed looks… and some curious. It was obvious the Council was unsure what her motivation was for her current request.

Akasha was the first to reply… “And why would you back down in our war against the many many hunters of our kind, dear?”, she said with a sarcastic tone in her voice.

Elizabeth gave her a look that would kill a mortal woman… then continued as if there was nothing said. “We had a lot of result… many of these idiots died. But so did many of our brethren… and those who serve us. It has come to a point that this whole ‘Open Season’ is taking a toll on my business. I need advise from the Council in how to proceed.”

A hard slap of a hand was heard… followed by claw like nails carving the table wood. Akasha looked up… “Never will I back down! This is a war… and I say nay!” Elizabeth looked at her without any surprise on her face… “Some part of me agrees with you for once my dear Queen of the Damned. But what do the others say?”

Vladimir raised his glass to the Blood Countess… “I have seen the development of this ‘war’ and eventually none will be the winner. I say cancel this unwanted attraction we are receiving.”

Hands where raised… and heads shook ‘nay’… Until all nine members present had voted on the motion. Then Elizabeth sat down… The vote was three agreeing with her vs. five against her. She was outvoted and her sharp mind was already formulating new plan. She had an agreement with the holy idiot she will have to break and some core-business to relocate.

“Ok… if that is the Council it’s wish I will follow it. But then let it be known I need more help… in funds as well as soldiers. This war has to end up in our favour fast.”

With a soft ‘Yay’ all members nodded and as silent as the meeting started… just as silent it was over. The only thing a wandering passerby would notice where nine unusual bats flying away from the famous keep looking out over the river Thyne.

A secret location, on a secret island, on a totally secret day (tell a lie it’s a Tuesday).

“Ladies and gentlemen…” the little girl Tomb announced “I have moved us in to the second stage of operation, steal all the vampires money.”

The shadowy room was host to a bunch of rogues, drug dealers, brothel owners and other miscreants, they sat around a long oblong table, at the end of which sat their ‘boss’ Tomb.

“Now things might be a little tough for you, for a few weeks or so.” She says tapping her foot against the table.

“You see I have need for an absolute tonne of money, and thus I have liquated ninety per cent of our assets” she announced glibly.

The room erupted into whispering and accusations, the girl lets her captains argue, her ears ***** as one of them claims they should ‘get rid of the little witch’. No one’s eyes were on here.

BRAT!

Her gun spoke over the arguments, splattering the wall with brains, he’d probably just been angry and not actually plotting against her, but Tomb doesn’t take chances when it comes to rebellion.

“The money will now be used to set up a counter bounty” she smiles over to a heavily moustached man, who just happened to be sitting next to the still warm corpse she had just executed.

“Jolly there can clue you in, I’m not against you guys claiming the bounties yourselves, and the money can be considered yours.” Her offer was generous, a chance for them to pick up money just for themselves.

“Buy yes, where was I. I’ve put out a bounty on the undead, all of the undead, I don’t care if they are heroes, villains or just working saps, they belong dead!” she announced fiercely.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Around the world the bounty went out, large hard cash sums paid for proof of the destruction of the undead, and a full twenty million dollar bounty on the head of Countess Bathory.
