Why no CCs?

I've been playing on Virtue for almost a month, and haven't seen a single Costume Contest. I play evenings Eastern Standard Time, which is often quite busy. When I played on Freedom, there were 2 or 3 CCs a week, if not more.

Blue side - Under Atlas statue. Been in 3 this week actually.
Red Side - No contests. Maybe once in a blue moon.

Why don't you just hold one?

And there were the events that hosted them... just yesterday there was Sentry's 2-billion inf one, with several different categories. Day before that, American Legion had a whole bunch; day before that, there were some held by the Cape. They also spontaneously break out in atlas under the statue, as well as in the D.

I've been on Virtue maybe a month and a half since I resubscribed, and I have to have seen at least 20 CCs.

Because having 100 catgurls standing under Atlas has been done to death.

I'm KIDDING!

I've held quite a few CC's in the D over the past month or so. Usually while on my character...NovaPrime. The last one I held was like last week I think, and 1st place won 100mill. influence. An' my CC's are open to heroes /and/ villians.

An' before anyone says anything about it...even if a villian wins I can still email the influence to them. They just have to get on a hero to claim it. Anyway..... I try to hold a CC of varying themes in the D at least once a week, and yes.. its during your normal play times. Yes I /always/ hold mine Pocket D.

((CC's? Yes there are CC's in abundance in Atlas Park.

I've won a few here and there.

I also give back the winnings randomly as Christmas Cheer to lowbies when the mood suits me. Which, I must say, is quite often.

So, do I hold CC's? No. Do I make people's day handing out wintry gifts of random influence? You bet your frosty behind I do.

But yes Virginia, there are CC's to be found. Mostly in AP under Atlas Statue... the same place you'll find your loveable snowman of Virtue.))

Atlas Park has hosted several in my short time playing on Virtue, including a "worst costume" contest that was held today. I didn't attend, but I believe I heard the winner declared as a Mr. Snikter

I've seen a few CC's this past weekend alone, and I was only on for about 4 hours total.

Lack of funds, probably. If you're not giving away tens of millions of influence, don't even bother unless you just want to hear people whine and moan.

Yeah, a 5mil 1st place prize is insulting nowadays lol

Again..at least once a week I hold a CC in Pocket D. Each one having a different theme. Granted I announce the CC only a hour prior, but still...it happens. So far I've given away over 500 mill in prizes, along with the random recipe or salvage. Usually my prize for 1st place is never less than 100 million infl.

I also noticed there aren't as many costume contests on Justice, but that is completely expected. As stated, if there isn't a grand prize (and by grand I mean in the hundreds of millions) not many players will come.

Meh.. I used to go to Costume Contests every time I saw one because on most of my characters I regularly get compliments on how cool/unique/good looking my costumes are.. That said, however, I've never actually won a Costume Contest and I find each time that I see someone winning that ( and perhaps this is just personal bias talking ) doesn't have a costume even half as original, well thought out or unique as mine. They may be a run of the mill 'I hacked/stole this design from another comic book/anime/cartoon' sort of costumed hero ( which I see a lot of ) and they still win.

I must say it's very discouraging.. Especially considering on one of my costumes which I must admit was inspired by several things ( I never said I didn't do it, just that all my costumes aren't 'inspired by' works ) but to the point as I was saying, especially considering this specific costume in question actually had costume parts built in that had effects ( powers and temporary powers ) that I had associated with the function of the costume itself to make it appear as if the devices/items were actual functioning gadgets.

I've never seen another person put as much thought into a costume as I did in that one. Alas.. Beh.. Just bad luck, I guess.

Whenever I host a CC I tend to look past the ones that are copies of comic books unless they have done something unique with them. They don't even have to be fancy if they just look good. As with all things art, it really is up to what the judges things is good though.
