Chance to Placate - worth slotting?

In relation to the sleep purple set with chance for placate, is this worth slotting on anything other than a stalker?

Does it still hit a critical with placate or is it basically just a grant stealth power?

I was thinking of using it on my brute for pvp but I wanted to know if it was a waste or not.

the fortunata hypnosis placate proc is a mag 2 placate

for comparison:
placate is mag 4
smoke flash from ninjitsu is mag 3

as far as i know no AT can crit after the proc goes off, ive never used it in a stalker though to know for sure. it makes no sense to use on a brute imo.

For what reason?

I was thinking if the stealth lasted long enough it might be like a more effective cage type thing, you cant hit them but they cant hit you either without PBAoE or targeted AoEs.

It's a 100% chance to placate your opponent, meaning he loses you as the target for a second or two.

Like barrier, I would slot it in anything I could. It's one of the the most broken things in the game.

Castle knows. And honestly not much has been 'horribly' nerfed since pvp got wrekt.

It's pretty much what makes Psi/EM the runaway #1 best Blaster set. Psi already has a 4-power, 80 ft attack chain with delayed damage. But when you add the Placate Proc, it's just horribly broken.

I imagine a lot of Mind/ Doms would use it more in Mezmerize if they weren't /Fire.

he knows but not like the devs care about pvp

and you haven't seen the giant nerf shield thread in the scrap forums? yea castle is totes gonna swing the bat on SC.

Rofl @ people sweating **** thats to good being brought down.


A defense bonus as good as 6 pieces for slotting only 2 and an aoe crash nuke on a fast recharge. Totally didn't see that **** coming.

It is still quite useful, yes. It still makes your opponent de-target (is that a word?) you. But doesn't the DoT from fire cut the Placate off almost immediately?

Also BoTZ "nerf" =/= a nerf. It was a fix. The bonus that it gave was horribly broken.

The detarget is the good part, the placate is not really that strong as it is.

I've used it to escape a death from a chasing enemy before and that worked because he couldn't target me for a few seconds. Then again, he was a REALLY bad player, even in a zone.

To the OP: keep in mind Placate is not Stealth. It just makes you unable to be targeted.

A placate proc in a psi/em is a waste unless you are zoning/1v1ing.

often times it gives the target of a spike a heads up to phase or evade.

Most people monitor hitrolls anyways so they'll be phasing or running as soon as they see Will Dom in their buff bar, regardless of whether they have the proc.

Lol. Who monitors hit rolls? It's not that hard. Either way, slotting the placate proc in a team build psi/em is pretty pointless unless you could seven slot willdom.

Keep in mind Will Dom will recharge in around 8 seconds for a decently slotted blaster, to avoid a placate every 8 seconds is going to be fun

Speaking of which, is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the power/slot screen looks a bit different after the last issue? It may be just some graphical thing, but all the powers have room for 7 slots now. Like there's an extra space on the end, where there wasn't one ever before. Can't slot more than 6, but perhaps it's a sign that in the near future you will be able to? Anybody else thought about this?
