its a trap
has anyone seen a non-mastermind version of traps do ok in any form of pvp(zone, small team or 1v1 arena)? i was planning to try one again to pve on anyway, but if its possibly viable for pvp i could at least pick a blast set to work better for that purpose later on.
specific questions: do seeker drones apply separate stackable sets of debuffs since there are two of them? does poison trap have any use? i cant remember if it makes players go through the vomit animation or not, but does it apply a longer than normal duration hold(eg: telekinesis)? if you spammed webnades would someone's recharge/speed be noticeably affected? before you tell me to roll something else i already have and have pvp'd on just about every other debuff set available. i actually used traps too but only in sirens and it was in the old system and alot of things have changed. i was thinking of pairing it with either dark, sonic, psi, fire, or rad. |
But seriously, I am sure if anyone could make it work you could Solo. You should probably go for a Corr version though since fenders are still lacking the +tohit or phase (hiber) options in Epics available to Corrs.
As far as gas trap, seeker drones, and the rest of the traps powers I couldn't tell you.
As far as the blast to go with it...Rad, Sonic, Fire?
I could see it being very workable on the smaller servers. It would be a pretty decent toon for virtue with the playstyle there. You are probably going to want to have a buffer with you. And know you will need all the +hp you can find. P trap is still a nice *** debuff. And there are tons of melee toons that are more than willing to jump into the pile and die.
I am not sure you would like the way it plays but give it a shot.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.

"Situational power? Sure. Although in a sense... all powers are situational. It's just that some situations occur more than others." Understand the situation needed in order for the power to be most effective... and make that situation happen.
i have a ar/traps myself on virtue, yeah ar lol but traps is pretty good to support mm's as a corr. i think sonic is probably best way to go since your trap debuffs do a lot of -def and -regen already. if you go defender it could go nice with psi app since it has tk...the repel effect on defender can be nice to nudge people into your traps. Yes the poison gas trap does do the choke animation. oh and before i forget, i already have the name its a trap in virtue lol.
Yes each seeker applies a debuff. Like Dahjee said it can stack multiple times, but it is actually 6 times not 4. It would mean you already have them summoned and recharged when you engage someone and that you have a recharge on them that is faster than 40 seconds. Having them already summoned up kinda implies you are being pretty stationary though cause they move so slowly. If you call up new seekers while you have existing ones they are replaced.
PT is still a very powerful debuff in pvp. It applies a 2 second hold, not a sleep. And will shut down pretty much any level of regen it encounters. It can be pretty devastating if you get someone in an area they can't readily escape from.
The affects of webnade don't stack. Well not the meaningful ones, I suppose if someone had numerous Inertial Reductions stacked on them the fact that the -jump can stack would be of value.
I'd pair it with rad blast and make it a corr for +perception and phase as well as a bit more hp.
they need to proliferate traps to trollers... grav/traps would be viable in zones. As it is now with the time you need to lay down all that junk is just too much even if PvP 2.0 is slower than before. If all trap powers were like sleet or quicksand etc. it might turn out to be a good set in the right hands but right now nah... especially if you can roll a rad or therm or even cold there's no rhyme or reason for traps in pvp. but GLHF anyhow.
thanks for the input, everyone.
i wasnt trying to flame bait, just looking toward the future as im running out of things to try and have about 2x of most of the fotms.
i like 1v1s, and with the new vigilance and the possibility of new epics/ppps i was leaning toward a defender, though, i can see why people would say go with a corr. i might just do both since theres still another month at least before any new info goes public. probably one with dark and one with sonic blasts to try offensive vs defensive style.
i definately wont be doing this on freedom: 1st because im full there now, 2nd because people only 1v1 there if the matchup is clearly in their favor. dont get me wrong, its nice for # of people in zones and all the 6-8v8 kbs that regularly happen but theres no variability in builds. its like seeing a concentrated effect of what i13 did to pvp. /rant
oh if its not on freedumb, then build a traps by all means.
Pre-i13 there was one or two good ones, since then I haven't seen one.
If you can pin people down with web/poison, throwing trops with a lot of slow enhancers underneath them might help a bit, but any decent player should get away fairly quickly.
Im not sure how well the slows on web env/cocoon would stack with web nade but it might be something worth trying if you went the corr route.
