So I Just Played The New Villain Arcs...
"I can't stay mad at what is essentially me. I love me!" --Bender.
My clone however, is not me, she is a lousy beanbagging copy of me, and she is a jerk.
The dialogue must be gender-specific as Dean kept hitting on me. I would love to at least have that option: to set different dialogue for variables. The most obvious one that comes to mind is differing dialogue based on alignment....and can we get an $alignment variable?

Yeah, playing Dean's arc is definitely better when you're a female character.
And Dr. Aeon wrote the new villain arcs, by the way.

While the new villain arcs are pretty good, the 2nd one relies too much on the twists and doesn't feel nearly as cool on subsequent playthroughs. It's like trying to watch Fight Club after knowing who Tyler Durden really is.
I still have a big question though: why the hell was I cloned to begin with?

Not for me... I see him as a wannabe ganster who is probably a closet case.

I liked both Dean's and Leonard's arc and did think the writing was superior. If I had any complaint at all.. Why won't Leonard give me his cell phone number? LOL Even after defeating Protean I still had to run all the way back to him to get the final mission and complete the arc. that aside i enjoyed running it and kudos to Doc Aeon for the work! :-D
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
I agree. I am very impressed with the quality of the story and all the things you could do in the villain arc.
As said elsewhere... in this arc I felt like the big villain. I was immersed in the story, I was not another mook on the street that other contacts discard when you are no longer useful to them.
I would so love to get the possibility of Deans briefing (male/female text), the possibilities of "Army of 8" - badge mission in the AE (hint hint), as well as the Spawn AMBUSH on Player -feature.
If GR missions has this quality of writing... then I got good vibes for GR

I loved the hell out of it, and I think it works well for CoV, where the villain is much more precise about how evil he wants to be. In CoH the day gets saved and it doesn't really matter how much particular angst you had on the subject; you're still, more or less, a hero whose goal was to, more or less, save the day. For a villain it's much more useful to have these sort of choice based missions because being a villain is ultimately about being in command of your choices.
If I had one of these types of Arcs every month I wouldn't even have to look at other games.
I guess I must stop enjoying watching Fight Club now. Oh wait, I don't.

Not a good enough handwave. There should at least be some reasons given in the arc itself for how and why they used your DNA, right down to the point of reproducing the clothing you happen to be wearing that day. Actually, the cloning via DNA thing is ridiculous anyhow as it makes no sense for player characters who are robots, magical constructs, elemental beings, or anyone who is Science-origin (in which they would have to recreate the events that transformed you, assuming that it didn't really alter your base DNA). Something even more Sci-Fiey like a malfunctioning teleporter or quantum replication device could have covered that much better and still allow for things like the flawed clone and the nonsense of the 2nd wave in the cloning tests.
It's comics.
That's how it works in comics.
Seriously.

And colour me impressed. Kudos to whoever wrote and designed them as they were the best canon arcs yet, and I especially liked how [SPOILERS] saving my clone from the fire led to the ungrateful swine from stopping my bank robbery. [/SPOILERS]
Sooo when can see branching dialogue for MA, or dare I say even branching stories?
