Auction House

  • Fixed a bug that would delete an entire buy order for a stack of enhancements or inspirations when a single one was claimed.

Gameplay
  • Fixed several rare random crash bugs.

Global Email
  • Fixed a bug that would delete anything sent as an attachment if there was a double quote (“) in the body of the email.

Graphics
  • Fixed a software conflict with some graphics cards using Intel chipsets that made the shader quality degrade significantly.
  • Fixed a conflict with ATI-based PCs using driver versions 10.1 or 10.4. The game would crash if the user changed the 'Water Effects' slider to 'Recommended', disabled Advanced Graphics Settings, then moved the Water slider again.

Intel user here. Info:

Windows XP Professional v2002, Service Pack 3
Acer Inc., AcerSystem (laptop model Extensa 5620)
Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz
1.99GHz, 2.99GB of RAM
Video Card: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
Driver version 14.37.4.5218 (1/23/2010)

My settings on live before i17
My settings on live with i17

On test I now have access to shadows (they seem to go up to "Stencil Shadows" which acts strangely*), and geometry buffers. My characters don't look fullbright anymore and they seem to have some shading, at least compared to that second screenshot. My characters look better now.

* = The shadows are grayish white, at least from things like trees. It's as if the shadows are fog instead of shadows. It's weird seeing trees with "white" shadows.

I still don't have access to "shader quality" or "water effects" like I used to. But my game is slowly looking better.

If you Really want this tested, then you need to fill the Auction House, so that we can actually bid on items.

Also, the next time you add a feature like this, I hope you remember to tell us, so that we can test it, so that we can catch a major bug like this before it goes live.

I've done some limited testing on stacks of enhancements and inspirations. I noticed an inconsistency in the way different items are treated.

If I drop the same piece of salvage on the market window one at a time they are automatically combined into a stack. The same thing for recipes. But if I drop the same enhancement (say, a level 15 trainer acc) they are kept as separate entries in the market.

However, if I bid on 10 of the same enhancement, they are maintained as a stack when the bid is filled. The same inconsistency applies to inspirations -- you can buy them in stacks, but you can only sell them singly.

Items for sale and items that have been purchased should be stackable in the same fashion. Historically enhancements and inspirations have not stacked, and it's good that bids now stack. But we should take that last step and make the system treat all items symmetrically.

Fantastic! I've gotten back the Shader Quality options I had before. And it looks like another annoying graphics bug has been fixed as well (which I'm guessing was also related to the Intel software conflict).

Now I just need the contact/costumes picture bug fixed and I'll be perfectly happy.

I'm grateful this is getting worked on even over the weekend, but I wouldn't call the Random Crashes "rare", unless you've only fixed a few of their sources. I'm lasting about half an hour on average before I get kicked out of the game. I've got a character stuck in the Villain Tutorial, because one of the "rare" crash bugs is happening every time she tries to select one of the two new contacts after completing the very first mission for the very first contact, two others who crash any time they try to change into another costume or access the tailor, and all my characters seem to have about a 50/50 chance of crashing if I try to access another player's information window, try to speak to a contact (including through Ouroboros, so I guess I'll check out the new missions later...), try to open my contact window at all even if I don't actually call any of my contacts, try to speak to a trainer, try to sell things at an NPC store, try to change my difficulty settings, or really try to interact in any way with something that could cause a Character Picture to load.

I reported this (enhancements) in Closed beta via /bug and on the forums. Glad it is fixed now.

"Rare" in this case means "affecting a small number of players". I haven't gotten a single crash since the patch went live, and I suspect most people are in the same boat. It's annoying as heck for those who are being affected, but the number of people affected is small.

My options are greyed out the same as Dispari's on live AND Test (including shadows, I don't have access to shadows like she says she does on test), MAYBE my toon has improved a bit, but still game looking like crap. my toon and the npc (the hot dog vendor next to her) have no shading or reflections like they used to in i16.

This are some test screenshot from 10 minutes ago with the gfx setting menu.

The 'Rare' Crash issues still havent been fixed properly either. Still crash making a new charecter when i get to name entry screen, still crash when editing a costume and get to costume selection, still crash talking to MA contacts, still crash selecting a costume option from menu.

This is on a pc and a laptop so its not really a 'rare' occurance, I also know 4 people on live suffering from the same thing and those are just 4 people from my SG. Im sure theres a lot more than that who simply dont use the forums.

Reported at least 30 times now, been told the issue is with the engineers but obviously its not being looked at yet since its still happening on test. Funnily enough, on the original test version before i17 release I never actually got these crashes :/

If the crashes arent fixed in the live patch im going to customer support to demand a refund of my paid playtime, I flat out refuse to pay for a game I can no longer play due to bugs.

edit: blah, crashes suck regardless

Downloaded the patch two hours ago. Since then, I have crashed every single time I try to do anything that will bring up a window with a picture of another player or an NPC. Speaking to contacts, trainers, vendors, tailors, contacts, opening my own contact window, trying to speak to the bank teller in the mission I was working on last night before I gave up, trying to open my own costume window, etc. Every single time. I am up to 12 crashes now, with a 100% failure rate of attempting the above listed activities. It was only about 50/50 before this patch. All this patch to the "rare" crash bug has done is transform it from a chance into a certainty.

I can open the black market just fine now, though although, no matter how long I sit there with the Black Market open, the "Find", "Get" and "Post" buttons never turn available for me to click. I can sell things by hitting enter, retrieve money with the "Get All" button, but if I put an item I didn't actually want to sell into the AH, it seems like it's stuck there for now. Even so, that's a dramatic improvement compared to pre-I17 Black Market performance for me... So. Great. Wish I had some way of accumulating things to sell more interesting than street sweeping.

I know this is a known and wide-spread issue, but I want to point out that the CH still locks you out if you select "get all inf."

Followed your advice there. And, well, the only difference is that trying to access the Black Market started crashing me again. So, your canned response managed to re-break the one and only pre-existing problem I17 had managed to fix for me, without fixing anything else.

I'm heading over to suspend my account right now, until I can save up for a new computer. Exactly what I was promised I wouldn't have to do to keep up with the ******* ultra mode update.

I've got a friend that is playing on a Netbook with an Intel GMA chipset. That's a pretty low bar for playing this game.

There's never any guarantee that all computers will play, but it may not be the game in this case.

Still here, even after all this time!

@Eisenzahn: Don't blame the game. Yes, Ultra Mode has issues, but a lot of people aren't experiencing the same problems. It may be your specific computer setup that is acting up, and the recent changes just made the issues with your computer more apparent.

I'd suggest you look into the problem further, update your drivers, and take some troubleshooting steps yourself.

The developers promised us that Ultra Mode will not raise the minimum requirements to play the game. And they're doing their best to keep their promise. And from what I've heard, they're nailing it; especially when someone with an Intel GMA can play the game, which is really the very bottom of spectrum as far as graphics processing is concerned. I'd know. I put up with one of those for 2 years.
