Nemesis Staff and Blackwand bug

Both of their animations are messed up. Just a heads up.

Specifically with the Nemesis Staff, the animation seems to be turned upside down. That is the staff is pointed toward the ground when it appears and is then swung upward. I haven't tried out the Blackwand yet.

Steps to reproduce: use the Nemesis Power, it was occurring 50%-75% of the times I used the power.

That's the new trick "back hand" attack. It fakes out the enemies so they don't see the attack coming until it's too late.

Honestly, the first time it went off, I thought it was some kind of crotch-rocket attack because of my view distance. It took a while to figure out what was going on.
So yeah, I've seen this as well.

ANY staff power, whether used by a player or a villain is having this problem when the power is first activated. Nem Staff, Blackwand, Divining Rod, CoT Mages with a staff, etc. If the Staff is already drawn by the player, then it plays normally. You can test this by clicking the power while out of range of a mob, switch target to a different mob and move into range before clicking the power again.

BAB said during Beta that he'd fixed this twice but would check on it again. Apparently, the newest fix for it hasn't worked it's way to the Live build.


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Actually, I discovered tonight that if you click the wand out of range of a mob, it still plays the entire borked animation- and roots you- and THEN tells you the target's out of range.


Things to remember:
-Common sense ain't;
-Overkill is the only kill;
-If someone asks if you're a god, run away.

Right. Because it doesn't do a range check until after the Staff is drawn.

I used to use that method to be able to run around with the Nem Staff in hand between mobs just so I could get the cool looking cast to Enervating Field on my Rad/Dark Def.

As long as I kept clicking it occaisionally to keep it drawn, it didn't root me when I got a mob into range.

I am glad this thread is here so that I know it isn't just me! The animations to me look kinda like they are flipping the staffs underhand, it is happening with all my toons but not every time. If you target first with the wand/staff then it seems to work normally, but if you employ the wand or staff in mid fight it activates underhand and the toons seems stuck in place for a moment if the target moves out of range.

I've been having this problem too.

Although, I kind of like the animation...

I realize the rooting thing may be a problem, but I'd like to see this an option somewhere...

Just to expand on this, most of the "draw weapon" animations are broken. Instead of playing something completely different like the Staffs, it doesn't play anything at all, but you still hear the sound effect and the enemy still gets damaged by the attack. I notice this especially on Melee toons that have an axe or a sword and it's constantly being redrawn after using Sand of Mu (for example).

Like somebody else mentioned, there are many instances where the blackwand will not root you anymore. The same goes for many other attacks. I even had it happen with a Warshade's Mire last night, and that's a weaponless power. And by the way, the Mire graphics looks really crazy while you are moving and it gets stretched over distance. lol

While this isn'r a huge game-breaker, I hope this will get fixed. I like the original animations, and would like to have them back.
